Nice and concise comparison, thanks for the work. How about trying a windsurfer (parabolic dish pair) with the omni-directional antennas, or stock antenna (using a different remote) with windsurfer? I think you'll find you can do 20,000' with just a windsurfer and stock antennas. I suggest you do your comparisons at 300' AGL to get away from any rogue wifi signals. It looks like when you were out 3mi away that your craft was only 100' AGL, maybe less, since the terrain might have increased in elevation. It would be good to know if you are FCC or CE compliant, it makes a difference.
I did play with windsurf a little, the will not gain you much, maybe 1000 feet max. Best thing is to put better gain aftermarket, and drone itself defiantly lacking AMP. Thank you for your comment.
I know this is an old video but it has just turned up in my recommended, I can see from your video that the circular antennae provide better range but surely there is a significant loss due to the antennae on the mavic being linear, your results don't make any sense to me, maybe my antenna knowledge is flawed.
