THANKYOU! At last, someone actually teaching how to use Max. You are a lifesaver. I've found the software's inbuilt lessons pretty incomprehensible, and the forums are like reading some elite's secret code - utterly inaccessible for someone just starting out. Everyone says Max is a pretty steep learning curve, but this has just made it a lot easier.
The average user in this comment sections is like, "Let me go to a beginner's tutorial for a program I already know lots about so I can bash the guy who has selflessly made tons of tutorials available for free on RU-vid."
great tutorials! I think you could move a bit quicker, or perhaps put timestamps in the description. I feel that most of us know how to save a file :) Great job!
+Travis Fodor True, but I'm focusing on real beginners, here. There's a lot of great tutorials out there (Baz and dude837) for the more advanced user, but I noticed that there weren't a lot of basic "get you going" tutorials, so I contribute to this niche. But thanks for your feedback.
Know that one day, I'll be rich, and I'll send you a good crate of wine from 'round here, in return for what you did for us. A simple 'thanks" would'nt be enough. (Côte Rôtie, France is where i'm writing from)
Thanks so much Damien! Although I sometimes agree with Gustavo (below) about turning the speed up to 2X !! If I'm in France, I'm hitting you up! Cheers!
Yes that would be great! And about the speed, to be true I thought the same in the beginning, but in fact, it provides you a great advantage towards others: it eases the memorizing process and surreptitiously lets you take good habits, the fact is that I remember all of my yesterday lessons, while with other tuto makers I found myself still a bit lost, here we take time to know each way, an it's sidewalks, and to me tutos are the best for that. I know it's a good thing to question one's own way of doing things, so one can get better, but please, don't change yours, it already is the best.
+Tucker Bartsch In the main menu click on "Options" and then selecet "segmented patch cords". Then you "click, click, click, anywhere you want to make segmented patch cords. However, you will find that the real problem is getting rid of ones you make accidentally... for that info I could charge! But you just push the "Command key" and the unwanted cord will disappear. Also try making a patch cord and then -with it still highlighted- press "Cmd Y" and it tries to organize itself automatically...
An intro to Max would be nice. What is Max? What does the name Max mean? What is the point of this software? Is it to create art, music, or video? Who developed it and why? Pretend like we know nothing...because we don't. Your videos assume we know stuff about this program. We do not. You mentioned "Argument" without explaining it. Having said that what you do explain is very helpful. It's just not comprehensive. Thanx I saw how you showed us that Max 7 has tutorials...but you didn't show us how to play them. I am in the software now, and I cannot figure out how to play them. (I simply don't see the play button)
Marius, it's true that as soon as you learn something, you forget what it was like to NOT know it. I'll try to keep that in mind on my next edition of Max (or any other) tutorials. I have tried as best I can to keep it "even" (explaining basic stuff in basic videos, same with intermediate) but it's good to be reminded. Peace, John R
