Max has a lot of fun with his driver buddies off the track, still has fun with Danny. Everyone lights up a little more when Danny's around.

Every video you can find of Daniel and Max is enjoyable. They get along really well. Max keeps it businesslike when speaking to the media. The media is not always sincere with him.

On Max being more jovial here: he's actually a lot more like that than people usually think. It probably has a little bit to do with his age here, but overall he's still kind of like that when he does things like this. Not exactly the same, because he's matured of course, but he can still be very goofy and gets excited over silly things. Though he definitely has a certain chemistry with Daniel. They're actually still good friends and these days it seems like it's more Daniel who looks up to Max. It's interesting to see how their dynamic changed over the years. And I don't really think that he's had to work on being composed like you say. If you watch interviews from when he was very young, before he got into F1, he's always had a somewhat serious, mature and composed attitude. He just really has two very different sides to him that come out in different settings.

The first interview you watched with Max was a very formal interview. It is very well known that he hates doing official press stuff. The Max you are seeing here is how he normally behaves. He is always goofing around with his teammates.

That is how Max is. He hates taking part in interviews but as soon he is Tag teamed with his teammates he is really funny.

Max learned pretty early on that with the media you're either a hero or a zero with not much in between. So in interviews that's where he likes to position himself: in the middle. Tempering the praise and rising above the critics. In these marketing videos we see more of the fun and natural side from Max, especially with Daniel.

To me Max always seems a bit more reserved when talking to the media. But in background stuff with people like Daniel, Lando and Carlos he’s mostly pretty relaxed. Daniel and Max together was something else though, they were so fun together.

He's never mentally in control when ricciardo is around, even in recent interviews where ricciardo is in. XD

I have never been so excited to watch a video! These two, I swear, I can't believe how much energy these two had when they were teammates. And yeah Max was so SO young. Daniel really helped him with letting loose and having fun. I miss this side of Max. He has fun still but it just doesn't feel the same. Great video as always, Max! daniel and max are kind of like brothers, even now when they meet its chaos. In my opinion this the max you get before the weekend and after the race, in between that he just wants to stay focused

In general, Max is usually like this with other drivers and friends in the paddock as far as we can tell, but the first interview you watched was formal, and Max famously hates taking part in media because they like to twist things for clicks.

I think rather than being more serious versus fun, i think Max is just more real. Whereas Danny always has a smile on his face (not in a bad way, he absolutely lights up the paddock), Max doesn't care to pretend he enjoys the umpth interview he has to do

Yes, these two really have brotherly friendship and still do to this day. Max definitely had the right team mate to learn from when he was that young. Although as Max got better, Daniel did struggle with his position within the team. he always stayed very good friends with Max. Like Lando and Carlos ("Carlando) this is for life! LJ

Max has had these 2 modes - fun & serious - since he was a kid. Of course he matured, but you should watch the interview with him and his dad when he was 11 years old and said he wanted to be F1 champion, you can see a combo of fun, humble & serious Max there. It's in Dutch unfortunately, with only auto-translate subtitles, the title is 'Jos en Max Verstappen in Holland Sport'. An amazing interview, he was already dead serious and kinda confident about it...

Max is actually like that most of the time ahaha he has a very loveable and fun personality but I think many people misunderstand him, I think he's very straightforward when he needs to be

They literally complement each other. The only time I see Max let loose of himself is with Danny. There’s a lot of funny moments between them. Those I hope you react to as well.

Max is actually pretty cute 😅 he can be super excited about things (mostly racing haha) but he always does it with the other drivers. He just doesn't like talking to the press I guess and I understand because he got so much hate from the medias when he was young (people keep saying he was too young and didn't deserve his seat) so he's not really happy doing media duty nowadays. And like he said they want a vilain and they choose him to be one because he's quite aggressive driving and just take everything he says out of context and make him the bad guy. While he's actually great friends with most drivers and super polite and humble according to the staff that worked with him.

What a difference that MAX with the MAX of 2022. Its good there is a chanse that Daniel is comming back again to RBC. With them 3, Checko included they will have lots of fun but also in business they will "drive" each other to the top, higher then high.

This is ancient, from 2017, Max was only 19.

I can tell you what changed in max's life to behave more composed.. it's called Kelly Piquet who has a beautiful young daughter, so that basically makes him a dad and caring partner. He has matured so much in the last couple of years.

Point is, that you see a different more serious side of Max when he talks to the press then when he does these kind of fun games with other drivers. Obviously he also matured a but since he was under the age of 20 in this particular clip. But yeah.. we were all a bit upset when Daniel left Redbull because they had such good chemistry together.. You can check tons of other interviews with daniel and max together or playing games. They always had lots of fun!

Personal view.. The 2021 season was the turning point for Max. (And please, refrain to talk about that season. Was amazing, just not the end of it). That season "gave" him "the eye ofvthe tiger", the "Keep focus, never relax!", the "world-champion attitude". If you see Max in the beginning, middle and about the end of that season, you'll see 3 different "Max's".

Max said he hates being in front of the cameras, he barely appears in the netflix show. Even his dad has said that if he could change anything in F1, he wouldnt have so much of this media content. Thats why they seem so cold/unconfortable. Like father like son.

Max’s childhood is a bit tough. His dad, Jos, has had high expectations and trained his son to be the World Champion only. Jos project his ultimate dream into his son because Jos didn’t get to do it himself. Jos has been tough with Max. On Max carting days, Jos was mad at Max and told Max to get out of the car. Jos left his teenage son in a middle of nowhere. Max had to called his mum, Sophie Kumpen, to pick him up. Jos has had anger issues resulting him getting divorced by Sophie, plus got restraining order from her.

Max has a bit of an abusive father. Like they have a difficult relationship becuase on one hand he likes and respects him as well as his mentorship. On the other hand the father (Jos Verstappen a former F1 driver) did go overboard probably. I would recommend you to look up Max Verstappen Penelope. Thats the daughters name of his long time girlfriend. Shows a completely different side of him.
