Max0r | Genshin Impact Is a Playable ANIME Reaction 

If you are curious about the plot - Max0r avoided spoilers for the most part - the short answer is this: You and your twin sibling are dimensional travelers. When trying to leave Teyvat (the world of Genshin) you are stopped and separated by an Unknown God. After several years of recovery and getting your bearings, you set off on a journey to try and find your sibling. Because you were separated by a God, your initial plan is to meet the gods (aka Archons) of Teyvat and determine if any of them are that god, and ask for information. There are Seven Archons - so far, as of the latest patch, your journey leads you to meet four of them so far. In trying to meet the Archons, the story has local focus in each of their nations while occasionally connecting back to your overarching journey. Hope that helps!

NGL the sumeru story is pretty damn dark. The Nerds found what was left of their god reduced to a child and because she no longer fit on the pedestal they wanted to chain her to, they locked her away for at least 500 years. Lots of messed up stuff in Genshin.

Maxor is trying to not spoil the plots because it's complicated and it takes a Genshin lore expert or hours to explain. The lore + story itself can be very confusing especially for new players and dialogue skipper. To start with, YOU HAVE TO EXPLORE and look for it yourself. The pieces of information can be found everywhere in the game like characters voiceline + story (not every character have credible sources. Only few are reliable or lying), weapon details, artifacts details, material details, NPC (some info can or not be trusted), books, old scripture in ancient building, billboards at the city, world quests etc... And most importantly, limited event story. And yes, we took our lore VERY serious. Our lore discussion is heated. Each nation had different old history and Teyvat (Genshin world) itself carries dark hidden secrets.

He probably didn't go into the lore and story very much because it isnt finished. New content has revealed a lot more about the story and put the previous stuff in context. It starts out simple and gets more complicated.

guys remember the whole racism thing is him just making fun, its not really racist but moreso xenophobic and only genshin players can understand most of the things and inside jokes he is saying. dont take it literally XD

And the majority of the musical interludes in the video were from Genshin and Honkai Impact (Same devs). They do killer music as you could hear here.

The lore is huge and deep. It starts meh but its getting darker. You need a 3 hour video to explain it and its still ongoing. Max0r is using a lot of inside jokes.

"I've yet to see a plot" Max0r doesn't really talk about the plot outside of skimming over it in the beginning and end briefly. The main story of the game is pretty damn solid (aside from Inazuma being rushed), and there's a ton of really good optional side stories. That and the world building is fantastic and the lore is really deep. Assuming that the game isn't "dark" because it has an anime aesthetic is a massive disservice to the game and the insane amount of work the devs have put into it.

The reason why he don't mention the lore is because it would be way to complicated to put into even a 3hr+ long video. Also, take everything he says with a grain of salt since it's mostly inside jokes and that genshin players say everything he says is correct because the understand said jokes.

So you are aware, in the latest Event, Cyno, one of the most badass characters of the recent story arc, does nothing but make bad puns during the entire event. keep in mind he has the most serious, deep voice in the english version and it's the best thing ever. feel free on your own time to look up a compilation. it's like 2 minutes i think.

So yeah he only explained enough to make it more confusing. It was definitely made for people who already know the game.

I think the reason he didn't talk about the story of genshin is because he's most likely saving it for when he eventually does an incorrect summary of genshin impact video

Max0r video seem to make for old genshin player so new people who haven't play the game might not get all the jokes and references.

worth noting that genshin has 6 child-like characters out of 60-70 characters in the game. It's hard to tell but there aren't that many child characters in genshin.

It has 1 connecting plot, go to the new place and maybe see your sibling. But most of it’s smaller self contained plots for each nation. He is also going over more of the gameplay and world design. 16:42 you have to get there via plot teleportation, but after the perma storm is gone you can take boats there.

In case you are worried: the video consists of jokes, most of which aren't supposed to be taken literally, and can be understood if you play the game and pay attention to the (sometimes unvoiced, like the "racist jinn" quest) dialogue. There's no plot discussed in the video because plot and lore are not the purpose of said video. Also, spoilers.

I guarantee that you have never played a game quite like this one. The nine hundred million dollars Max0r mentioned? That's not how much the game has made; that's how much they've spent on development. The earnings are four times that amount. If you want darkness, don't worry, if you play long enough you will get your fill.

Genshin has one of the greatest stories I've ever experienced, and also massive dark lore. Maybe don't jump to conclusions after watching a meme video considering you've never actually played the game

To be fair, the rapping in the English dub was bad due to translation. The Japanese and Chinese dubs of it was actually really good.

In order for Max0r to actually put in story stuff, he would have had to replay the game for months. It's perfectly reasonable for him to just skim over story stuff and talk about the overall game.

the story wasnt touched in the video much.. but Genshin Impact story is pretty dark.. :D like you wouldnt believe... :D just give it a shot.. dont care about rolling for characters or.. building characters thats not necessary like at all :D you can just explore the world and read dialogs.. there is story to be told everywhere main quests,side quests,character quests (which they are completely free) there are books,weapons with lore,enemies with lore.. heck even animals/food has a lore :D i dont want to give an examples cause it would be spoilers but for example Inazuma (episode 3 in this video is so sad..:D like literaly can make you cry) Sumeru too..

Max0r is really funny but I dont think its a great exposure to the game. I reccomend you guys watch other videos about genshin lore and gameplay because they are actually great.

Tbh the plot of genshin is you play as a set of twin travelers Lumine(girl) & Ather(boy) at the start you choose which one you'll play as an one of them will get taken away by some mysterious god then the entire game after this is your MC of choice trying to find their missing sibling but you run into a lot of situations along the way

Genshin's plot is really more like One Piece you know? Its a neverending exploration to search for something. That's how I view One Piece. Other anime is like 'being the best" or "revenge" etc.

I've played hundreds of games, including the ones you guys play, and Genshin Impact is still my favorite by far.

I tend to visit each nation's libraries for more info of the lore

Genshin has a great story sadly its not very beginner/casual friendly. If you want the full story you need to read artifact decriptions, books, do side quests and explore everyrhing you can and then some more.

I've played this game almost exclusively on English, and the voice acting is actually really good, in fact I like it more then the japanese one. It's just that Maxor obviously has an agenda against it. But yea, the RAP is infamously bad, the voice work is good, that just a very horrible example

if you want your lore Dark and Grim then Yeah Genshin has that But, IT TRIES ITS BEST TO HIDE THE DARK SHT THERE. The Main story is trying its best go through teyvat without going through the fucked up stuff there is. examples: the Desert Quest line where its two stories that ended up with Genocide, The Child sacrifices, Slavery and Rape in old Mond, Human Experiments, the Hilis, Trauma and Dementia, etc. its Hidden all in the sidequest and damn some sidequest are top notch, ofc not just the dark and grim ones.

Don’t worry, Tighnari’s VA(the groomer) doesn’t work for the game anymore, and they are currently hiring someone else to redo all of the voicelines he had/has in the game.

The "plot" is just; "Your sibling got imprisoned in blocks when you got sent here, now explore this beautiful world of extortion, xenophobia, aristocracy-flavored racism, gods that would make the Greek gods seem quaint, war crimes and really good music. Oh, and there's a LOT of lore we're going to drop feed you."
