When I needed shocks for mine, I did the right thing…. I went on market place and bought a set of shocks from a guy with a 3/4 ton lifted Chevy 🤣🤣🤣

Looks like they came out perfect! I'm working on a RUF/missing link/SPOA setup myself right now. I'm doing drz frame gusset plates, shock towers, and lower shock mounts. I used those same bump stops when I setup my CJ springs rear, will likely end up using them up front too. I measured and should be around 20" compressed, and like 28" full droop. I found newer f150 rear shocks are 18-30", so I picked up a used set for $40. Being used I'm hoping they won't be too stiff like a lot of shocks on samurais end up being.

Thanks dude! You're being much more resourceful. I hope they end up being s little worn out so they ride better.

Dude I just binge watched every single episode of your samurai build series! So sick! Definitely going to use a lot of the mods you did on my Samurai! Keep the sami videos coming! Had a question on your camera set up.. I was curious camera/mic/holder you we're using? Seems like its not too heavy and provides great video/audio. Thanks!

Joey! Thanks for the comment dude! I'm glad you're liking the videos. All of the equipment is down in the description. I had to get a special cord for my Android but I think the regular iPhone headphones cord works fine. The lincoln weldpak 140 has been awesome! Highly recommend. That should be in the description too. Cheers!

Awesome vids as always brother! Long time subscriber but don’t comment as often as I should as I’m sure viewer interaction helps with feedback and future build vids. I just want to start off by saying you make videos that are straight forward, well thought out and very user friendly to follow for those of us looking for tips. So much appreciate all that you do! Question I had is what type of spring/shock setup would be best in your opinion for slightly faster driving on sandy and muddy trails where my wife won’t complain as much about bouncing out of the truck lol (not sure if you can rightfully answer as your rig is for crawling/mine is for Florida flat sugar sand trails and mud but would love to hear any input!)
@FortuneOffRoad
@FortuneOffRoad Год назад
Thanks man! I appreciate the feedback, good or bad. It's hard to get a good ride with leaf springs on a short wheelbase, but it sounds like Jeep YJ springs ride a lot better. If you're going fast I wouldn't recommend missing link shackles. The YJ springs may ride TOO well, meaning you might need a sway bar to keep the body roll under control. Hope that helps. 🤙🏻
@thefreshestcatch7434
@thefreshestcatch7434 Год назад
@@FortuneOffRoad yeah I was leaning towards the YJ setup… I should admit that fast was a horrible was to articulate my statement hahaha I’ve never met a fast Zuk in person. More looking for a softer ride over bumps and pot holes on the trails while still not spending a fortune. I can’t find a YJ kit for under 1200-1400 all said and done, so even though I don’t really have the cash for it I may just bite the bullet and pick up a kit from Dr Z. Thanks man! Looking forward to that heavy axle build series!
@FortuneOffRoad
@FortuneOffRoad Год назад
@@thefreshestcatch7434 you could always get the dr z kit and pin the first shackle closed when not going "faster" than most zuks 😉

Thats funny I just did 5125s and that video posts later today. Got my daughter to help install them too. I did the opposite and went with lighter valving 170/60

What rear springs did you end up running? still using stock rear sami springs out back or did you go with the yj springs in the rear? Im starting a RUF setup found a set of used springs locally and in the process of buling the RUF set up. Love the videos..... Keep them coming!

Enjoyed your video . why is your shock mount on the botton of your axle. I welded mine on top of the axle that gives me 3.5 more travel.
@FortuneOffRoad
@FortuneOffRoad Год назад
Thanks! I welded it on the bottom so I could run a 3.5" longer shock. Now I can max out a 14" shock in the front 🤘🏻

So im pretty much set up exactly the same way except yj springs . so would the 25-187762 be pretty much the exact shock you would recommend?
@FortuneOffRoad
@FortuneOffRoad Год назад
Yours probably flexes even better! You really should measure it out. The shocks are cheap a d might as well get some that are perfect for your setup. I think you're about 1" taller on YJ springs too.

I have a question for you experts in the 4x4 sector! (and I would like to know if you can tell me if it is true that the ironman nitro gas shock absorbers go well with the original set-up and can be adapted with the +5? I have a Suzuki jimny 4x4 with m13a 1.3 l petrol engine with shock absorbers and standard settings, yesterday afternoon I picked up the new ironman nitro gas shock absorbers and the 4x4 spare parts dealer in Florence told me that these ironman nitro gas shock absorbers are ok for 4x4 off-road vehicles with stock trim or in a second you could put the springs higher and it becomes a +5 high trim is that true? Greetings from Florence Italy!)

I have only ran the stock shocks and bilstein aftermarket. The bilsteins are obviously better than stock, but I like them a lot. They have many lengths and valving options. I have a video in my Samurai build Playlist that covers everything you need to know to order.
