I was frustrated with my shop organization, my tool placement, and my lack of production because of it. After visiting a friends shop, I decided that my shop would be more efficient and productive if set up properly.

Just found your channel and this video. We have almost exactly the same size work space and I deal with the same issues with organizing. One thing I’ve done is hang everything that I can, I made some special hooks and hang my engine stand for instance, I also have a long section of wall mounted shelves up high. Basically anything I can keep from taking up permanent floor space is off the floor. I could still improve some things but that’s just the direction I’ve went. Thanks for watching, and welcome to the channel. I have to look at getting stuff up off the floor, and also anything I don't use regularly to have a spot where it's available, but not in the way. Hanging the engine stand is an interesting idea. That thing is always in the way. I have two of them, one is in another space with an engine on it for storage. It's also always in the way. My shop is 24x40 and i have 3 cars in it. Same situation your dealing with . Try to think in three dimensions. Look up about 6-8 off the floor and see all of the unused space at that level. Cleveland power and performance has a couple of shop tour videos. They put up pallet racks and placed the first shelf high enough so that you can walk under it and use that space to work. Mount lights under the shelf and you have a great work area. Plus you can take advantage of the uprights to hang and store frequently used tools on them. Also think about mounting your trailer receiver vertically on the side of the bench. Easier to mount heavier tools and they will be more stable. Comes in handy for shears and such. Good progress. Its alot easier to get work done in a clean shop

Thanks for the comment, I'll look for the videos you're talking about. I can't really put pallet racks across the width of the shop because I have to have clearance for my gantry to travel by. I wouldn't mind one more section of racking though. Thanks for the tips.

@@SlowCarFix even if you just do it on one long wall you can take advantage of the unused space up high. you can also narrow the upright to whatever width works in your shop, they just cross tubes and an angle brace. I'm doing that to mine. Keep updating us on all of your progress

Looks a lot better, no slip trip or fall here with plenty of eblow room should make working on the 55 more enjoyable. Nice to here your buddies were of help to you on the relocation of equipment. Nice to hear your at least getting help. keep up the great work, should have the 55 finished in no time now.

Thanks Christian! It's a big difference in there now. You'll have to see it sometime. The '55 will be a long project, but I'm enjoying the process. There's no race, but I am looking forward to it.

Trailer hitch grinder holder. Saw a nice setup on "home built by Jeff" where the grinder setup swings under the bench when not in use. Sorry don't recall which episode.

I've been thinking about some retractable reels for extension cords. I have two for air. I would like to change one for a manual reel. Thanks for watching.
