Steve - Welcome, I'm very happy you found my channel and that it's been useful for you. Wow, 4 x 55 gallon barrels of boards is a lot to process with some potentially great value. Feel free to ask me questions as you go along at sharkscrapper@gmail.com. I believe that was a flat rate large. But here's data on a box I just loaded with CDROM boards: 19.6 lbs of boards in a box that measured 14x9x10 inches. Total shipping weight was just over 20lbs and cost me about $20 using FEDEX ground from NE FL to BOARDSORT. Actual costs will be different for you depending on location but hope that helps give you an idea of what to expect.

I've looked at the math and for me cutting the gold fingers doesn't work to my advantage. That said, everyone's situation is different so I always encourage viewers to do the math based on their situation.

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking but I've never had any trouble logging in to Boardsort.com.

If you remove everything from the board, then throw it in in the trash. You've removed the value. Your local yard might buy them as low grade because there's still a tiny bit of copper layer in them. But don't try to sell them to Boardsort.

Very dependent on your location, what carrier and service you use. Turns out I decided to repack that material with some high end boards in a much larger box weighing 50 lbs which cost around $43 using FEDEX Ground, but with over $250 of material. Large flat rate boxes to boardsort cost me $21.10 if I don't increase the insurance. So far, I've managed to pack over $400 worth of material in a large flat rate.

Henrik - The BOARDSORT.COM process is very transparent. First I weight each category of item, such HDD Boards. Then I enter that weight on the "sell to BOARDSORT" form which calculates the payout. After I enter all the material the sites asks me to confirm this is what I want to sell. Then I get a receipt and an email confirming what I've sold. I now have five days to mail the box to them. After they get the box and confirm the contents, I get an email telling me the payment has been authorized. Then I get paid either by PayPal or a check, whichever I choose. A lot of detail to your short question - hope that covers it for you.

I agree. If you can shake them off the magnet, then likely nickel plated brass. If they stick strong, then scrap steel screws.

Thank you for the clarification. It depends on how close you are to Boardsort. It costs me between $0.75 to $1 per pound to ship to Boardsort. So I make more on low grade materials by selling them locally and avoiding/reducing the transportation related costs. My brother was Army, 82nd, so I'll let you slide on the GO ARMY 🤣

BOARDSORT pays more if you remove the brackets

@@sharkscrapper I'm not disagreeing that point. Yes they do pay more per pound if you remove the brackets by 10¢/lb. And I can see why your removing them since you're using flat rate boxes so you're trying to pack it as full as you can to maximize profit to shipping costs. What I was trying to pass along info wise is that on a per card basis is it's more profitable for cards weighing less than 1 pound each. Take for example the card I used in the thread I linked. Let's say I was given 1,000 of these cards $1,750 with the brackets left on. $1,610 with brackets removed In this example if I left the brackets on I would earn an extra $140 and saved time from not having to remove them. I guess I figure out the per piece profit for card and saving time as I'm saving up for a Boardsort delivery for when I take my wife to go see her brother in Wisconsin as this is a hobby type adventure for me. I enjoy watching your videos and learn aspects that I haven't encountered yet in my roaming around my little neck of the woods. Keep up keeping stuff out of the landfill and keeping your pockets a little fuller with money from the scrapping. 😁

That's a constant consideration for me. Can I pack enough of the high value items in to make it worth the postage vs what I can get from local yard/buyers.

Same. Doing 5th grade math I can calculate higher paying items are worth it. Lower value stuff I have to depopulate some of the good parts and take the rest to a local yard. For example, motherboards would cost $80 for $60 worth of boards.
