MAXING OUT Microsoft Surface Thunderbolt 4 VS. Surface Dock 2 

You can get up to 4 displays working with the Surface Laptop 5. You need to use Thunderbolt compatible displays, which allow you to daisy chain the connection between them. Dell, HP and LG sell several models that do this.

All I can say is it’s all beautiful.

I'm disappointed that the surface dock 4 does not use the surface connector freeing up built in ports to the surface devices while providing power. Being a proprietary connection, it looks like it's limited to usb specs and didn't update to thunderbolt or pci-e specs. The dock is no different than any other thunderbolt dock with more limitations than third party solutions.

Great Demo!!! While the Surface Dock 2 is made for Surface Pro 6 and newer, is there any functionality on a Surface Pro 3?

It would be nice to know 4k@30hz or 4k@60hz.

Hi. Firstly, awesome video. I was excited to see that your 4 screen set up worked as I have been hoping for a similar set up. I have a surface pro 7 and an surface dock 2. Two monitors connect to the dock via DisplayPort to usbc cables. This gives me 3 screens including the surface. I tried to connect a 3rd external monitor via usbc to hdmi cable which I connected to the usbc port on the surface pro. Unfortunately the 4th screen does not work (or at least I am only able to have any combination of 3 screens working however the 4th screen is greyed out in the display settings. Any ideas why this might be? Thanks in advance.

When you had 3 monitors plus the laptop, what was the resolution on all the monitors? I'm trying to use 2 24" and a 32". The highest resolution I can get is all three at 1920 x 1080, which is fine for the smaller ones, but not sufficient for my larger display, which I'd like to run at 2560 x 1440. My current dock won't support this much total resolution and I'm wondering if the surface dock 2 could.

I upgraded to a surface pro 8 a year ago but the surface dock 1 (although supported) doesn't work all that great with it. I can't decide between surface dock 2 and surface thunderbolt 4 dock, I'm leaning towards the latter but I noticed it has less power passthrough at up to 96 watts versus 120 watts with the former.
