Add in an intake pipe to the turbo since the compressor housing isn't facing forward, you can get more air in and spool the turbo faster and get more boost
Don't forget to add heavier valve springs, hone the intake/exhaust valves, lighter flywheel/piston, and remove the governor! Your turbo will actually do something then....
Guys! Please put a torque converter on that and drop the rear sprocket size a few teeth. Then you can tune your engine to run at a set rpm and the clutch will do the work.
I,don't know why you guys are running a centrifugal clutch and not a torque converter sent up which would work a lot better for boost and low mid and top end
You guys are doing some great stuff with the EFI kit. Tunning a turbo single cylinder is no easy work. If you ever need a mount for that tablet I own my own 3d modeling and 3d printing company. Id love to help you guys out for free
He made doing that tune look easy as hell, lol.. At first it was sputtering and did not sound happy at all. I'm a little surprised he got it that smooth for having literally nothing but a laptop... good stuff guys!
What are you talking about. 2 stroke or 4 stroke. This engine on a shifter trans would rip. An most shifter karts are 2 stroked if not a torque thumper motor.
@@Archermboi On a stage 4 build I'd figure you would be running at least a 26lb spring? If that's not enough I have seen 32lb'ers as well as double spring sets 48lb on eBay for under $30. I'd also recommend a set of chromoly push rods and titanium retainers while you are at it. The whole thing shouldn't cost more than $75 or so.
@@Archermboi I'm sure that thing is only making 3 - 4lbs boost. The valves aren't floating.. The stage 4 kit is designed to turn 10,000rpm. They need to lose the turbo. Thats a 20hp kit and a cam with a lot of overlap. Turbos hate overlap and that turbo is way too big for that motor. The tiny bit of boost it is making is getting blown out the exhaust because of the overlap. The other thing about a lot of overlap is you need to rev the shit out of the motor to get any gains. This is a perfect example of buying a lot of expensive parts that don't well together. They have a cam designed for a normally asperated high rpm motor and a turbo that needs about a 1000cc motor to spool properly. Springs are the last of their issues
I like the Indy car style go-kart , i seen one on FB marketplace local to me for , I believe $300 wish I could get it but I have too many things going on right now , good video keep up the good work and I want your C10 truck ...lol and Congratulations on the 100k subs .
As a kid, we ran super modified dirt track car fuel in an 8hp Briggs motor. Backfire blew carburetor loose. We kept wrenches when riding. Straight pipe muffler it blew blue flames when backfire. It was mounted on a reinforced 2 1/2 hp mini bike frame! It was super fast until we blew engine some time later.
Now that y'all have a tablet and Bluetooth and stuff, ya know what should be next? A ROCKIN' STEREO! I would love to see you guys do that! Please? Great job on 100K, I know y'all work real hard out in the Texas heat(since I work in it as well), so I'm ALWAYS cheerin' y'all on! Also: Go A&M!
Congratz on the 100K...love your vid's I hope you found the Bluetooth thingamajig that went awol on ya!?! Anywho, I hope you have a great day & be safe.
I think you guys ought to fabricate a water-brake one of these days. Seems like something you could figure out. (Perhaps less complicated than the engine work.) Then you could load test the engine without burning up any brake discs. Could probably make something that bolts to the drive line, or perhaps a chain drive so it'd be simple to setup. (Not having to fabricate the other stuff for a full dyno or whatever.)
I like what you've done with this cart thus far. If you want it to go faster I suggest switching up the gear ratio between your centrifugal clutch and the sprocket on your rear wheel. Smaller sprocket on rear wheel, larger sprocket on clutch. Another thing you could try is incorporating a 5 or 6 speed Harley Davidson or similar motorcycle transmission between the clutch and the rear axle.
Not to be an old man; but to be an old man I got a little puckered up when you flew by that tailgate at head level. If your engine locks up at a bad time you could be in a world of hurt.
Getting there, So basically now its a bigger injector some more tuning/adjusting of your map to fix your drive ability issue. Maybe suggest taking to a wheel/hub dyno and not engine dyno so you can tune with load and have your AFR's etc checked. Keep up good work, and wouldn't mind a $$ figure at end just to give people idea (good advertising option too)
Sorry guys, but 0 boost means NO boost... you havent got enough exhaust pressure to build boost on that tiny engine... you wouldnt be making more power top end, that where the engine curve is least likely to make power.. keep trying, bigger motor i say.
If you ever return to this crazy cart, just tune ignition timing at low RPM to gain some torque at bottom end (timing table used in this video is good for top end because you need less advanced timing at top end, but at bottom you need advance the timing for best power) but beware of knock! 😂 Just experiment with it, you should hear knock at this small engine. Allso tune it for at least 13.5:1 AFR (= more power, because excess fuel will cool down cylinder walls and prevent konck) and keep eyes on intake air temperature.... I must say I really love that rev limiter when you hit it on road 😍
It would be cool to see a dashboard molded out of fiberglass behind the steering wheel so you could permanently mount the tablet. Then you could have a digital speedometer.
Awesome job guys keep up the good work. Glad to see RU-vid supporters supporting their favorite channel. Always like comment and sub if you like videos.
It would be interesting to see someone with a Dyno for these things just do a big bang and go all out with like I don't know something smaller than a gt35
Did you hit 50 mph? Turbos should make a lot of torque. I guess it's just the single cylinder and spool up issue. Cool build anyway. Fun to watch. Congrats on the 100k milestone.
Definitely think yall need to have an exhaust pipe on the turbo. It's not going run right without some kind of back pressure. Hell even just a pipe with no muffler would do the trick.
I'm working on it. I'm working on a new smaller case to fit closer to Honda's n clone engines. When i get done with this revision I'm going to post some video.
Dr.D I believe you should try to make a supercharger out of a air pump, or use a junk yard 3.8 liter super charger or aisa 500 check into it, my thoughts are not enough exhaust to move the turbo but check out the boosted boiz there making tubo shopping cart. ps not a real doctor
@@rugger8787 that just gave me a brain tumor. Two strokes make more torque and hp at the same cc. And it's almost impossible to turbo a two stroke. But a four strokes advantage is the better low end torque. That's all.
I tell you if you can somehow get something like a dyno did you can put the go-kart on actually drive it weren't acting up and kind of fine tune it it probably wouldn't take as long
Add a 2nd identical injector and wire them together. Cut your map values in half to get started on the tuning process, and then add your fuel in the top end. It's simple guys come on
Everyone talking CVT and yet all the fastest minibikes and go karts use a clutch.....I have yet to see a mini bike that does 90mph using a CVT. The only time I ever used a CVT on my off road go kart, we hit like a max 5mph vs 15mph with clutch (thing had issues galore, but the only swap we made to it)
good job, and i understand your build reason, but the chassis and framework seems to big and heavy weight for geting performance. i would say lighten it up weight wise, if not pull the turbo assembled motor off and mount on smaller lighter frame. the clutch springs sound to soft, put higher rpm tighter clutch springs in and raise your idle speed. also a higher octane race fuel like 98 octane or higher will help. rev limiter on because you dont wont to blow the motor, but your reaching for more power. gonna be hard to risk it, after all the work. a small cvt would help, but funding, space on chassis, room to build, and the added weight of cvt may only help a little. ideally for this weight and small cc engine, if possible use a old semi auto transmission 3 speed off a old honda monkey trailbike or small atv. 6 speed from a shifter kart 2 stroke is way to heavy and your motor wont turn it like a 30 hp 125 2stroke. but the cool factor of a turbo 4stroke gokart is awesome.
And people said sub 400cc engines don’t make boost. BUSTED. Kyle from Boosted Boiz has his Shopping Kart running with a 200cc Lifan ATV engine making 10psi. He’s got experience and people close to him (Brent/Jamie, PFI Speed) to make it run very well. His kart has torque, sucker wheelies from a dead stop now.
Stop it with these suggestions that take absolutely no thought. They already have an expansion chamber. Why would they design it exactly like Kyles? They just need to keep playing around with it until they get it to where they want it.
cool bit of kit but ive got to ask, why a wind back and go. here in the uk we put manuals in every build regardless of what its going to be. but across the pond you guys tinker with auto's. but why🤔
Hmm... it doesn't seem like the turbo is hitting full spool. You may be getting positive pressure, but I'm not hearing any blowoff noise so its definitely not hitting whatever you set the valve to. I wonder if supercharging might be better at this engine size... do you think that turbo would work on say... the ninja250? (I've been thinking about trying a tiny turbo on mine)
If you guys want I can try and tune the kart for you that way you have a good enough tune in the software so the self tuning will have little to to change.
The turbo is too big. That's the problem. My brother in law drives a 660cc Daihatsu Mira turbo (from factory) that uses a smaller turbo than the one they're trying to run on that 212cc. It's not gonna work unless they rev that poor thing to 20k shooting connecting rods into low orbit lol
