Maxtrax vs Actiontrax comparison & thoughts. Both of these are excellent products. Basically it comes down to the weight of your rig. If your rig is heavier than 7,500 lbs, I recommend the Actiontrax. If your rig is lighter than 7,500 lbs and you don't plan on ever getting a heavy rig, go for the Maxtrax.
If you're not getting stuck, you're not trying hard enough!

Thanks for the comparison. I wanted to know more about the weight limits so I contacted maxtrax. Their response "We suggest anything over 10k should use out XTREME Boards. They are more reinforced for the heavier vehicles and come with replaceable teeth. Anything near 10k or lower is fine to use the MKII's." Great review.

Dude, thanks a bunch for the concise review and comparison! I'm glad I made the right choice with my ActionTrax for my 8400lb Transit AWD even though MaxTrax had a more predominant reputation and similar price. Details matter.

Thank you so much for the great review, I had not known about the weight limit. I was on the fence with Maxtrax, but I'll definitely be getting a set of ActionTrax after learning this new information. I have a 2019 Power Wagon and she's just over 8,000 lbs.

Actiontrax are made in America AND used by USMC and US ARMY. Maxtrax are not. That says a ton (no pun intennded). Im on Action Trax web site and about the warranty, Action trax offers a LIFETIME warranty with NO weight limits, NOT a 5 year limited warranty. this is a cut and paste from their web site: US made ActionTrax are your go-to vehicle self recovery solution when you've lost traction in sand, snow, mud, or loose rock. ActionTrax are specially engineered for N. American conditions of cold temps, sharp rocks, and heavy vehicles. Lifetime Warranty and US customer service 24/7/365. You Gotta be objective and make sure you are passing the most accurate intel so you're not steering people into a ditch regardless of how you personally feel.

Do the Actiontrax and Maxtrax stack together? I have Maxtrax now but would like to give Actiontrax a try, If I could get 2 Maxtraxs and 2 Actiontraxs on the Maxtrax studs that would be ideal.

Why do you suggest the MAXTRAX for a lighter vehicle bot an ActionTrax for a heavier vehicle? Also, MAXTRAX do not warranty using their traction boards on rocks either (at least here in the UK, where both brands are the same price and very expensive), whereas ActionTrax do.
@threecreeksbackcountry
@threecreeksbackcountry Год назад
MAXTRAX are only rated for 7k lbs and Action Trax have no weight limit. MAXTRAX are stiffer, can act as a shovel, and are little easier to deal with compared to the ActionTrax which are super flexible.

@threecreeksbackcountry
@threecreeksbackcountry 5 месяцев назад
We had to do a quick search to find out about the new maxtrax lite. If the regular ones don’t fit or they take up too much room, the smaller ones seem like a good alternative. They won’t give you as much surface area as the big ones but they could potentially get you out of a situation. Better than nothing for sure

@@threecreeksbackcountry Hi! I’m not trying to stack those 2 brands together, I’m trying to mount my actiontrax on the overland kitted universal maxtrax mounting plate. I asked them for clarification on why it won’t work and I have a feeling they are not going to reply but this is the only option I see that I have to mount my recovery boards to my Molle panel
@threecreeksbackcountry
@threecreeksbackcountry 5 месяцев назад
Gotcha. We just Googled the mount plate you’re talking about. If the Trax hole locations are slightly different, it looks like you could easily move the mount pins on the plate with a little garage fabrication. Mounting these Trax is actually really simple and the honest answer is you don’t need any overland kitted plate mount to do it. You can build your own mounts with a little bit of creativity and a trip to Ace. We made all of our own mounts with old bolts and wrenches lying around. Go with the easiest option. If modifying your existing mounting plate is the easiest do that. If building a new mount from scratch is the easiest do that. If drilling a new hole in the ActionTrax is the easiest, do that! 🤠 There in no wrong way, as long as it’s functional

Good balanced review thank you. I just can’t believe how Actiontrax just completely copied maxtrax design to the letter. There is a guy out there with a review that is just preaching how good Actiontrax are however you don’t see them on any vehicles here in Australia, what you do see is a heck of a lot of Maxtrax, tried tested and proven to work in Oz.
@USActionTrax
@USActionTrax 2 года назад
First recovery boards were patented in the US in 1912, so actually the Aussie boards are a copy as well. They are all just a "better mousetrap".
@TheRealTMaye
@TheRealTMaye Год назад
So you see more Australian boards in Australia? No shit.. Actiontrax took what Maxtracks did and improved every area that it was lacking in. Including the Dupont polymer that they're molded with. Plus, every time you use your Actiontrax you'll get to smell a hint of freedom and 2nd amendment in the air.
@9821Joker

You know what else you don't see alot of in Australia? Sub zero temps and snow. You know what you see alot of in America? Sub Zero temps, snow and Frozen and broken Maxtrax. Maxtrax are great in warm, temperate climates but Actiontrax are designed for multi temperature conditions. Ranging from frozen to blistering hot. We used Actiontrax in the Marines and in all my time using them, I never saw one break, ever, using them on MRAPS, Hummers, ect. I've seen built jeeps break a Maxtrak a few times.
