Thanks for posting this video! We just bought our van and are about to get started on the build and one of our first steps is to cut all the holes in our ceiling for the fans.

Cutting into a van is, in reality, pretty easy. But it never gets less stressful!! Good job on your install!! I just filmed a "How to" video also!!

Great video, although I would recommend two fans, one for intake and one for exhaust. A hatch is good, but not as efficient as far as air flow goes.

Thanks for this video. I am getting ready to cut the first hole in my van and this helps give me confidence. It looks like installing the fan in the front rather than the back gives you a completely flat surface for the fan to sit on. I was going to purchase an adapter to flatten out the surface, but it seems you don't need one in the front.

Thanks for the video. I know you posted this ages ago. If you are still reading your comments, I am curious why you choose the dark tint one? any regret? I just bought the clear one before watching your video :(

We’re just starting work on our Promaster, and your info is very helpful. We did get a diesel, and I’m surprised how quiet the engine is.

Way to go! We finished our fan (x2) installs a couple weeks ago. Hoping to release videos down the road when we are further along in our build, definitely want to give back to this wonderful community! Thanks for all the great info your are sharing!

The way I see it is like this... If more and more people choose to live this life instead of the usual way people live then the products for vanlifers will improve, the state laws will be forced to accept us as contributing members of society, and maybe we can even help lighten up the laws that discriminate against the homeless population. So why wouldn't we all want to share as much info as possible so that others can join us? Who cares if it's trendy right now. The people who really want to live this life will stick with it, and the people who are just doing it for the trend will do it for a year or 6 months or whatever and then go buy a house. That doesn't effect those of us who are serious about it. I see so much negativity surrounding nomadic lifestyles from the outside And inside. Every single person on Earth is just trying to figure it out for themselves. Sorry to ramble.. that had very little to do with what you said haha I've just been thinking about that a lot lately so I had to get it out😅

@@pairofdrifters Pair of Drifters I whole heartedly agree! On a recent road trip out west, I couldn't believe all the places specifically "banning" vehicle living. I do understand that some people don't live by a leave no trace standard that should be the center of this way of life (its probably the trend followers not necessarily 'living' the nomadic life) but it would be incredible if legislation was put in place making facilities for vehicle dwelling. It would create safe spaces, clean bathrooms/shower areas, refuse areas. Not to mention bring jobs to places that might need them. Win win. We could probably talk for hours on this topic!

Nice. Hows it been working? My van has ribs fron to back so it would sit on top ribs. Does fan not come with something to screw into under the roof? Strange that you have to use wood🤔
@kevinkruelle1492

Interesting to see you started the pilot holes from on top of the van. Most people I see do it start that process inside the van first. Is there any benefit to either? It seems a lot more straight forward to do it on the top if you're cutting in that sunroof area like you are.

There could be an internal support beam under the roof. If you drill from the inside first you can be sure you avoid hitting it.

Just tip using sealant. You should push it, not pull

Curious what region y'all are in? i'm from East TN and currently live in NY, so in those places, I'm sure a fan is more than sufficient for cooling, but I do plan to travel a lot, especially to warmer climates. Trying to figure out if the fan is good enough, or if AC will be necessary. (I also have a TON of windows)

You’ll want two Maxx fans for really warm climates, one for intake and one for exhaust. But keep in mind that your van will never be much cooler than the shaded area it’s parked in. Maybe AC is what you want. I typically like to go to the desert in the winter, and northern mountains/coastline in the summer, avoiding extreme seasonal climates. Not always that easy though

Did you purchase the leveling frame off of Ebay for the instal?
@noobuskahn
@noobuskahn 3 года назад
He didn't use the levelling frame because he installed it on the flat part in the front of the vehicle. If installing in the rear, it is probably a good idea to use it :)
