I never got hyped like during those intros on NBC with the music and narration...omg it felt like I was about to watch a war every time lol. Now it's like watch these guys run up and down taking turns shooting a 3. Wtf is this they call basketball nowadays?
The Audience Demographic has changed big time, costs of tickets and marketing has pushed out the sports fanatic, and brought in the "event fan" ( a night out for some business folks and families)
Lebron fans still think Jordan has no competition 😅😂😅 they are blind or what ?? Is very simple just watching a game like this to know lebron would've went to the hospital 😅😂 after get fouled by the Knicks or the pistons 😊
I’m so happy I was born in 1982!! Because I had the privilege of watching the nba in the 90’s!! This was the best era of nba basketball no debate just is what it is!!!!
No "no-charge" zone, no flopping called, hard fouls, cigarette sponsors on the scoreboard, this is pure. Gen Z basketball era couldn't handle any of this.
Aaaahhhhhhahahahahhaha, “cigarette sponsors on the scoreboard,” (Newport’s) 😂, 90’s was the last era of “real men basketball,” it seemed like every superstar on each team always came through in big games, it was like you knew it was coming, so cool and fun to watch!! Man I miss the damn 90’s😂😂
Oh brother! The 90’s had some of the worst teams in history. That was no gem of an era; the 80’s was. The only thing propping up the 90’s is MJ worship. One of the biggest floppers in the history of the NBA is Dennis Rodman and he did get calls. You have always had players who would bait others. What’s the big deal about a no charge zone? Cigarette Sponsors!!! influencing people to smoke and get lung lung cancer. Nothing good about that. Players adapt to the era they play in. The current crop would have been just fine in the 90’s. The irony is the league got “soft” to protect MJ. If you blew on the man it was a foul. Why can’t we just enjoy the game and not compare all the time. If anything these are this is the most talented set of players I have ever watched, across the board that is. The addition of so many great international players is also a great joy.
@@paulneil9649 Worst teams? The Supersonics with Gary Payton and Shawn Kemp? Or the Jazz with Stockton and Malone? The Pacer with Mark Jackson, Rick Smitts and Reggie Miller? The Magic with Shaq and Penny? The Hornets with Mourning and Larry Johnson? The Spurs with Robinson and then Duncan? Many of these guys are hall of famers. The 90's were anything but weak.
Bird, Magic and Kobe were the others who played the same way. They did whatever it took to win. But not pad stats to get triple doubles like in last 15 years.
I've had the opportunity to watch Magic; Bird; MJ; Kobe; Shaq; and LBJ in their primes. MJ was the best all around basketball player I've ever seen. You can compare the others with one another, but MJ played at a completely different level.
@@Johansson1960 because LeBron proclaimed himself as the GOAT which is partly due to him being delusional. No way can a person proclaim themselves to be the GOAT, that declaration has to come from his peers in the same field. MJ has never proclaimed to be the GOAT and thankfully for his area of time that he played MJ peers proclaimed him as being the GOAT. MJ lets his dedication and work on the court speak for him.
The greatest era of basketball, 1991 92 93 96 97 98 the bulls were unstoppable hints the 2 three peats. I'm still waiting for another team to 3peat twice 23 years and counting.
I don’t know why I cry whenever I watch Jordan and Pipen. I thought it’s because of their greatness and I will never see anything like it in this lifetime. Omg. The passion and the drive to win!!!!!!!!
this is the Golden Era ladies and gents... real rivalries.. physical defense... hand checking was legal... respect and Love to the Knicks and Bulls of the 90s .. it was like watching 2 boxers slug it out .. 1 Boxer usually was favored to win, the other boxer didnt care, he just kept slugging away
if your just watching the highlights of jordan, then no you wont be able to understand why he is the greatest. rarely do they show the defense he played on the court night in and night out. or the fundamentals or his game presence. glad to say i watched nearly every game he played, night in and out he would amaze the guy was remarkable.
@@dvvaughn564 i watched EVERY game Jordan played in in the early 90's. In my opinion, i think that was the most entertaining time to watch the NBA. :) Totally agree. :)
@@dvvaughn564 Exactly. The rivalries, the wars, bad blood between some teams that made the game more exciting. It was things like this that made the NBA fun to watch. What are the rivalries in today's league? Some teams figure "if i can't beat em', i'll join them," is today's NBA. JMO. :)
For any of the young fans who haven’t seen a lot of mj footage, this video is loaded with classic mj moments. His ability to get a good shot from all over the court vs any defense is insane. And the great defensive plays, just dominance.
Jordan never took a play off his his life. LeBron takes more plays off on defense in any playoff game than Jordan did in his 13 year regular season and playoff career.
Even to this day you can feel the intensity and the hustle of all players for both teams. I'm not going to say today's basketball it's not fun but back in those day it felt personnal, the drama was off the charts.
@Christian Nieves "I'm not going to say today's basketball it's not fun..." I'll say it: it's not. It's too formulaic and predictable. It’s PAINFUL watching this wack ass era of the NBA. All of these guys literally play alike: constant calls for screens, in order to get iso’d onto a slow-footed Big, just to chuck up an incessant amount of 3ptrs. And what makes it even worse, these are the top scorers constantly doing this bullsh*t! It’s utter TRASH!
@@natedablack7857 I feel you man shit is hard to watch sometimes it's become a dribbling exhibition and a three point contest. Guys can have a 3 on 1 break and everyone will run to the 3 point line smh I remember watching a game during this years playoffs and it must have been 10 possessions straight both teams jacking up 3s and missing it was awful to watch. I miss the big men playing big, 7 footers will let a 6'6 guy check him and won't even take the ball to the basket definitely miss 90s era but not just bball all sports, music and movies were at their peak in the 90s imo
@@natedablack7857 i concur... even with zero analyzing, you just feel the lackluster. i love bball, but i usually just end up getting into something else if i start watching a game these days. i remember these old games... I WAS HYPED during them. i was going outside and hooping on the commercial breaks... doing the Ewing free-throw line dance, etc. lol.
@King Hoss 👑 I just made that point the other day. How guys don't fill the lanes and run to the basket anymore. They all spread out to the corners for 3's.
@@Jayhova89 its a fact they would have won? Do u understand what a fact is?😂 thats an opinion wich is retarded. A fact is bulls won thw title in 92. Thats a fact. What u said literally is not a fact😂😂 its a pathetic excuse and opinion. I mean maybe it had to do witb jordan was the better player. But ive noticed lately the last few years people dont know what a fact is. A fact is like abraham lincoln was the president.. But if i said i woukd be president if i was friends with bill clinton. Thats an opinion..🤦♂️
you forgot how he started that sequence by slipping through the Oakley/Starks double team and scored over McDaniel 😉, but a ridiculous piece of play only MJ could come up with
They say Jordan only wins championship because he plays with allstars. He didn't. The team was just that good. They were trained to become more competitive and one of the biggest influence is MJ. They said he played practice game like its nba finals game 7. That hunger for victory sure made its way to his teammates mentality. You can see in this video how hungry they are. If they wanna fight they will and they will go toe to toe. Game 7 against a very dirty physical Knicks Team. Who would have thought. But still MJ and the Bulls managed.
bastardjustice Pippen, Grant, and Rodman were the only All-Stars Jordan ever played with on these Bulls teams. Hodges and Kerr both competed at All-Star Saturday for the 3-point contest(Hodges was a 2-time winner I believe), but they weren’t All-Star selections.Kukoc was an All-Star, but didn’t become an All-Star until he left Chicago. LeBron’s list of All-Star teammates include Love, Irving, Wade, Bosh, Allen, Chalmers, Haslem, Shaq, Jamison, and Zydrunas Ilgauskis.
ESPN's 30 for 30 series needs to highlight the Bulls/ Knicks rivalry. The ratings would be off the charts. The 30 for 30 show highlighting the Pistons bad boyz era was great...had me rolling
After watching this again, Jordan’s fadeaway is truly the best amongst any other players, it takes a lot of skill to consistently hit those and make them look easy. Unfortunately I don’t remember this as I was a baby however I will never forget the 1998 bulls championship and how the city went crazy celebrating after Jordan hit the most highlighted shot in history.
Only twice in the championship seasons did the Bulls go to a game 7, here against the Knicks, then against Pacers in 98 eastern conference finals. The 94 playoff series between them was a great series. I really thought the Bulls were going to be able to win that series. 90's playoffs rivalries between Bulls/Knicks, Knicks/Pacers, Suns/Rockets, Rockets/Sonics were great times.
@@Gabriela1Acevedo Jordan wasn't there in 94 playoffs, it's Pippen who brought his team to the 7th game, if Jordan was there, quite sure the Bulls will win that series...
I think Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen were the greatest NBA tandem of all time. For that matter maybe the greatest tandem of all time in all of sports!!!
Players are too highly paid. You have Duncan Robinson making more on his last deal than most of these guys made for their entire careers. Do you think they actually give a fuck if they win or lose? Does LeBron even look like he cares if he wins when he is taking at least a dozen defensive plays off in an elimination game? Players really only care about their stat sheet, and the way the game is handled facilitates stat padding to keep those players happy.
As a bulls fan this series was grueling to watch start to finish. The Knicks really did take them to their limit. Once they got past the Knicks it was smooth sailing to another championship.
I remember watching this and knowing that as soon as McDaniel got in MJs face it was OVER for NY. That's what ths new generation will never appreciate because it was so surreal to watch: as soon as someone lit a fire under MJ he would absolutely dominate the entire game and get the WIN. It was something as an NBA fan that ive never seen another player do. Kobe was the closest. Lebron is laughably not the GOAT but for sure in my top 5 of all time.
Lebron isn't built like MJ. Kobe was closest you're right. Those Knicks, Pistons, and Pacers team. Just the league and presence of big men in the paint back then....Lebron as big as he is. ....guys would have got In his face an let him know in those days. Today ...he already big as Shaq and you can't touch him. Guys definitely not talking shit to him like those Knicks squads did to MJ.
@@CS-np2oo The point is Lebron only has moments when he can just make things happen and take the win. Jordan did it constantly, and other than the first run after he came back after baseball, he never failed the big moments. He just didn't. The the game was brutal back then. Lebron has had the advantage of a far less physical NBA, and he's still only looking up at Jordan.
They were so much bigger, stronger and faster. That's why you had finesse players like Jordan, Pippen, Payton and Olajuwon. Skill players like Magic, Kobe Stockton and Kidd; and over the top players like Bird, Miller and Mullin. The bigs... Olajuwon, Ewing, Robinson, Shaq, Mourning, Mutumbo, McCale, Parish, Kareem, Walton, Kemp, jeeez and that's not all.
I didn’t know it back then, but I was watching the best of the best play basketball ! These videos bring back great memories. Thanks for putting them up.
I saw a regular season NBA game between the Sixers and Lakers in 1982 that went to OT. Kareem had over 40 points. As I watched I realized why I barely watch the games now. The 80's and 90's were incredible. The 3 point shot has over time ruined the game. I think the court has to get bigger or they've got to eliminate the corner threes; something to end this 3 point contest that it's devolved into.
I'm a fairly new basketball fan and have tried hard to get into the new guys and stay up on the modern players, but I keep finding myself coming back to the old school stuff every time. Too many rules and regulations and distractions in today's game honestly.
this here was the epitome of 90's NBA basketball, super intense defense, nobody's backin down, gettin in each other's face, it's was truely competition at it's purest, back then everybody had that competitive nature.
I was at that game. Turning point was the incredible MJ sequence where he scored, stole the inbound, got stripped, chased down X and knocked the ball away. The energy in the building went through the roof. My nail biting subsided a lot.
NBA in 1990's was fucking incredible. I not going to sit here and say that the 1990's was the best era, because I think anyone can have a solid argument for any era. But man, I can watch and be entertained by these videos over watching some of the NBA games of today.
mitube4u Actually the 90's was the best era of the NBA nowadays the NBA is not the same but it is what it is I'm glad I was born in the 80's and had the honer of watching this cool enjoyable games
Reggie Miller Isaiah Larry Bird the Ralph Sampson the twin towers Vinny Johnson coming off the bench shawn kemp Seattle the mailman and Stockton Barkley the wease good times.
Chris Cantrell you sure did name a lot of people who don’t have any rings lol. Ralph Sampson?!?!? Shawn Kemp is just a nostalgia name. All he did was dunk i.e. Blake Griffin.
What a terrifying moment... you have to drive around Xavier McDaniel and then get double-teamed by Patrick Ewing and Charles the boss Oakley, Jordan has to be the toughest player ever!
Shout out to Ewing. My favourite player. Man never stopped fighting and never quit on NY. Only HOFer on the squad and didnt change teams every two years like guys do now. Loyalty. Respect. Legend.
7:53-8:06 - "Here's Jordan splitting through! Jordan with the steal! And then it's stolen by Starks. McDaniel, chased by Jordan; (Crowd goes wild) it's a CLEAN block!! Marv Albert with the call - couldn't have done it any better!! What a sequence by Jordan!
It gives me goose bumps to see Michael Jordan step up to Xavier McDaniel! You can feel the intensity.. and it did motivate Michael to get in the Knicks ass.
Before KoBe, Duncan, Dirk, Iverson, Pierce, Spreewell Paul, Curry, Harden, Irving, Durant, The World & My ERA was Watching: Jordan Bulls, Stockton Jazz, Payton, Sonics Penny Magic, Miller Pacers, Ewing Knicks, Robertson Spurs, Morning Heats, Isaiah Pistons, Mutumbo Nuggets, Haseem Rockets, Bird Boston Magic Lakers Barkely Suns, Drexler Blazers Priceless Time for the love of the game.
Bulls vs Knicks rivalry was so epic in the 90s. Even in MJs 2nd prime in 96 I loved when they played eachother. So much passion and physical play. Starks made some ridiculous shots whenever he played the Bulls lol
To look at it a simply politics is short sighted. It was about opposing racism. One does have to be a politician to do that. The excuses made for Jordan are embarrassing. This is past fandom, this is worship.
these 2 teams had great games against each other, very physical and epic. Marv's announcing and Magic's famous saying "who's game is it, it's Michael Jordan's game"🔥
7:52 Relentless! Michael doesn't take a shot and relaxed. He chases down the ball even after he lost it. Let's teach this to the next generation - Be committed. Give your all at all times.
I like what McDaniel did here. He knows he's just a role player and MJ and Pippen are superstars, but come playoff time you compete and never back down even against a Jordan or Pippen. Something you will rarely see on today's NBA.
X-Man was a bad man during his time with the SuperSonics. Playing for the Knicks rejuvenated his career. Starks and X-Man were consistent key players on the Knicks other than Ewing that was giving the Bulls problems. When the X-Man wasn't signed, it took a bit of air out of the Knicks when they played the Bulls the following year. The X-Man was a free agent and there must have been complications on signing him at that time.
Man, man, man, I just can't get over Michael Jordan and the Bulls. I miss these guys so much. Trust me, basketball will never be the same, and we will never see another player like Michael Jordan, no matter how hard Kobe "Be" tried to "Be" LIKE MIKE. PS: Much respect to those Knicks, for they never gave up nor back down!!!
I believe if the Knicks had home court advantage in this series/ game 7 at MSG THE KNICKS WOULD HAVE WON! They were the ONLY team who had a legitimate shot of beating Jordan's Bulls in this 3 peat era!😳😳😳.
Alot of so- called great players today, really would not even be "great" in this(Jordan's) era of basketball. I'm just glad im old enough to have watched " real" basketball, once upon a time....
What?💀 put a player like demar in this era, he’s averaging as much as Jordan. Put an even greater player like Lebron, he’s averaging a 49 point triple double. Especially since players were less skilled and athletic, and zone defense was illegal
Labum lasts 5 minutes at this pace. This is the highest level of basketball that will ever exist. No question! Blessed to have grown up in this era. Watched all these games live and to see these players put all their soul into their sport seriously shaped me as a person.
