D agree big time with you. Refreshing to see more lay ups, post play to score and mid range shots on the floor. Too much three point shooting now in the game and defense not always there.
@@tonyos7271 Defense not always there? There ain't no defense at all anymore. Everygame is like an Allstar Game. All points, no defense. And these ugly a** 3s... A vanilla guy like Steph Curry would not make it back in the days. Just think about the Bad Boys Pistons in the late 80s/early 90s.
It was all downhill once they changed the rules in 1999 to kill defense. Suddenly no one had anything to overcome, thus no reason to get better. Imagine a weightlifter, and they take some pounds off his bar. He's doing more reps! Clearly a better athlete!
@@coldsnap5742 yeah, probably an understatement to say defense is lacking in today's game, yet guys like Morant claims he could take Jordan. Young man doesn't even understand.😔
I never got to truly remember the 90s games, I was too young to really remember. When I go back and watch tho I'm very confused why people consider this era the best, this brand of basketball would stand no chance against what teams are capable now a days. I see no world the Bulls being able to compete against the Warriors at their peak running that offense either
@@BayAreaHoops415 if GS had to play any one of the Bulls championship teams, especially the 96 thru 98 teams, they wouldn't know what to do b/c none of those guys have had to deal with being defended like they would be with those Bulls teams. The rules on defense now vs then has made it much easier for the offense b/c that's what sells tickets. The 96-97 Bulls would destroy any GS team you put in front of them. And don't even get me started on what the '92 Dream Team would do to these guys today. Sorry young fella, but the NBA today is soft and full of cry babies.
Seeing all the comments, I’m glad I’m not the only who thinks the NBA was so different and awesome to watch in the 90’s. Everything was just much better, from the players, the teams, the game and even the commentary. Glad these videos are out there for people like me that can go back and relive those moments!
I have been watching the NBA playoffs in 2023 and 90s basketball looks slower to me, especially on defense. It would be silly to think the game wouldn't evolve and improve.
@@MrGriff305 But at least it is more fun to watch than just jacking up bricks in 3 today. Players driving and being aggressive on the basket is what makes it great.
I feel the self same way that you feel. Lol & these players aren’t evolving 😳 but it looks to me as if the players are actually ( Dissolving ) 😳 and it looks like that Oracle was right on that Movie called The Matrix. Ummmmm ( Everything that has a beginning has an end Neo ) lol 😂 & the NBA of today is as weak as Tap Water 💦 ( It’s not a game ) and we talkin about ( Tap Water ) 💦 ( It’s not a game ) 🤣
@@nbastalgiacritic1751 My thoughts exactly, could you imagine players now with that defense on them? 😂 There's no way people don't see the clear regression in skill on both ends when watching this compared to players now
@@BayAreaHoops415 Regression? That means you think '90s ball was better, but you are replying and agreeing with someone who thinks the current state of the game is superior. Which is it?
Did you really watch and pay attention to these highlights? This isn’t great defense or physicality. Are you just jumping on the bandwagon? Let’s be real here
@@ThouArtOfWar0724 I dont believe the standard was 480p in 1993 when you had analog cable and VCR recordings. The first HD televisions weren't until the mid 00's...
@@JJ-vp5ic You're right! Too much talent to be a fan. Also remember Spurs's Robinson-Hardaway and Orlando's Shaq-Penny. Not like today that guy called the king..... Well he can be the King..... 90's got so many Kings and only one forever called The Out-of-this-world star MJ
Thank all of you.finally a section where everyone knows the sport.this era isnt close to back then.every team even tbe bad ones had some of the best players to play the game.too many people cant or just wont except this fact that the game today isnt nothing like it was.everybody was playing against the the best everyday.today man forget it not wasting any time talking about the truth that any real good player can be better then tbey really are today's game sorry but true
Actual good athletes on both teams all starting 5's and benches involved ! Teams around the league you knew all their players who associated not just BIG 3 hype with no talent actually more greed than game no class respect bring shame to their product is tame compared to yesterday
That silky smooth jump shot, insane athleticism, handles the rock on a string, high iq, impeccable footwork, lockdown d, and the killer instinct. The perfect basketball player 🏀 🐐 🏆
The Jordan mid-range game, and his turn around jumper is there with the Sky Hook as the most unstoppable weapon ever. You just can't do anything about.. He was insanely efficient..
truth is mj was one of a kind. I used to think no big deal there'll be more players like mj... but it's just not gonna happen. Check out mj going thru three players like they weren't even there... over and over... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jnDyG07ZkZs.html

Basketball was so much better in the 90s. I looked forward to primetime games on NBC. So many good players, good teams, more exciting. Heck, even the sitcoms were great in the early 90s. Ahh. How time flys
Great Kids shows also, and of course sports at its peak nfl, NHL, nba, mlb, even Olympics with Michael Johnson, Carl Lewis was still going, our figure skating and gymnasts, the best sitcoms, great music, great movies, war movies started to look freakishly real. But clothes were ugly, cars were ugly, and al qaeda was growing rapidly, drive bys and gang wars were huge. And Ccp was on the rise of taking our politicians over, and starting to make all of our stuff for us, which led to the cheaply made stuff, which is still an issue today. So there was great stuff but also bad stuff.
MJ is the GOAT and was otherworldy in this entire final, but Barkley was just unstoppable. It's a shame he never won a title and we have to listen to moronic kids disparage him about it, dude is absolutely one of the best players of all time.
It’s amazing how different the game was. Back then, the goal was to penetrate the defense, get as close as you could to the basket, then shoot. Now it’s just chucking threes. Was so much more enjoyable to watch in the 90s.
@@jasonmoukala8909 yes, actually, in the last 5 years, the number of 3s taken per game has risen substantially. By orders of magnitude since 80s and early 90s
Man! I remember Richard Dumas killing it during this series, broke my heart when dude's career was cut short. I really thought he was on the way to becoming a 90's great; prolly was. This Pheonix squad was so damn dangerous
When the nba was boring a.f not alot of teams with real athletes weak as defence easy baskets idk why they say to get a basket u have to get hammer lebron would of kill that era
@@reynaldoruiz1834 Now NBA is boring. Like prison inmates, all are in tattoos, players run on a court. No talent, no strategy, no playing technique. The last one from real NBA era was Kobe, the rest of players is BS.
@@mardikermardiker8514 hahahah tattoos and everything but now actually they do look like athletes speed strength and now u actually have to go to college to make it cuz they have alot of talent not like back then didnt have enough from college had to go to high schools to look for new players now in college is full of new better talent all sports keep evolusionating now they all can play all 5 players not like back then only 2 out of 15 players wow
Another case you can make for MJ being the GOAT, is the fact that he played against all the talent of the golden era of the NBA (the 90s) and he came out on top most of the time beating them all.
90s was a boring era . We're living in the golden era now. I believe from 2005 till now we've had say more different champions than there was in 80s,90s era
@The Traveler today’s game is a total snooze fest. Guys today take nights off even when healthy. 1 and done college kids have made today’s NBA not as talented as it was back then. The 80’s and 90’s were the golden era of the league. It was must see tv. You had to be both mentally and physically tough in order to play back then. There were true rivalries back then, not the love fest super team league you have today.
@@TheSnake1123 can't speak much on 80s cause I didn't grow up in that era. Snoozefest was going into every season knowing that the bulls were going to win. The rivalries lacked spark because everyone knew the bulls were the only thing that mattered. The Game was also less skillfully. Guys didn't have the shooting skills and talent of today's players and I say that as someone that is 6 months older than lebron
@The Traveler well there’d be no NBA today if Magic and Bird weren’t there to save the league from going bankrupt. Those Celtics-Lakers finals were some of the best basketball you’ll ever see. That was a true rivalry where you saw the passion and drive for competition. And who do you think made the blueprint for players today to succeed? Guys back then actually showed up to work. You had to be mentally and physically tough to succeed. Guys today taking nights off when they’re healthy shows you how great the work ethic is for today
Thanks for posting this. These teams were so incredible to watch. Reminds me why Jordan is the GOAT. Not just the stats or ability, but it is the style too. He just looked otherworldly out there, more so than anyone else. Barkley was incredible too. I know the modern style is more three-and-d, but I am trying to imagine a scenario where Charles doesn't average at least 40ppg shooting 70% from the field with his post game against todays players. He was so explosive.
Não há palavras para descrever aqui o quão maravilhosas são essas jogadas desses gigantes incomparáveis da NBA 90s: Jordan. Pippen, Grant, Jhonson, Barkley, Ainge entre outros tantos. NBA 90s: Show. Show.
As great as MJ was , this video shows how great the phoenix suns was. They might not be golden state but they were an amazing strong team. Very complete team that just happened to meet the juggernaut
Barkley has always been my favorite player. His physicality was superb. Now as an analyst he is straight forward and doesn't hesitate to express his opinions. I love Chuck.
@@mentorraci3188 Not only MJ, on that game King Charles is amazing as well. I really enjoy this year play off, some players are showing amazing stuffs (i love what Leonard Kawhi is doing), but i am a nostalgic of the golden years when MJ, Scottie Pippen, Denis Rodman, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Clyde Drexler, Patrick Ewing, Kris Webber, John Stockton, David Robinson, Charles Barkley, R. Miller, Akim Olajuwon, Tim Hardaway, Latrell Spewell and so on...i cannot count how many amazing players were playing together at that time. But for sure, now it is more physical , the game changed.I was not a big fan of the years of big Shack and Kobe but i like Iverson during that period...
The atmosphere in the stands resembles of football (and I mean European football) stands when I watch the 90s NBA videos... Nowadays, NBA crowds are mostly busy taking selfies and eating popcorn in the stands.
Everyone has their favorite, and mine was Jordan. We can argue it all day long. What you can’t argue is, in the playoffs, in the Finals...he simply refused to lose. He wouldn’t allow it. That man hated losing more than he loved winning. To me, he’s the greatest. Always will be.
The golden times....Will always remember when the bulls won the title my english teacher (A woman) here in france wrote this on the black board as the event of the day "the Chicago bulls won the 3peat in basketball" alonside the date of the day...was so cool. We had a big jordan poster in the classroom....
No joke. I met him once in the 90’s. Enormous hands, but didn’t seem taller than 6’04. I walked away being even more impressed. He was like the spud web of big men
Beautiful!! Absolutely beautiful..I truly enjoyed that trip back through memory lane, Thankyou!! Honestly forgot how good and dominant Barkley actually was!! That man definitely deserved a championship ring!
I just felt so fortunate to have witnessed the BB of the 80s and 90s. The transition of talents from the 80s to 90s were phenomenal. It just got better every year.
The game was way better before social media and internet. The rivalries were intense. Players from opposing teams weren’t friends with each other. Players didn’t jump from team to team chasing rings like they do now. The players had more personality and didn’t all try to emulate their predecessors. They grew up playing ball all the time not playing video games. They cared less about money and it was more about the competition back then. And we had Jordan, magic, bird, Barkley etc.
@@pettypodcastshow8267 of course, but alot of shows aren't stupid enough to have the word podcast as an adjective before the word show... it just sounds dumb... change the name if you wanna be taken serious

Oh look, the refs aren’t calling everything??? Goodness, and there’s no timeouts every 2 minutes which stops the game, just for money that comes from commercials- man oh man this is sad
The 80's and 90's NBA was so good i wish they would consider putting these old playoffs/championship series on DVD sets. Just watching these old highlights makes this 49 year old want to go out in the driveway right now, lol.
The way Michael can one-handed keep the ball...it was and still is to me the biggest sport hero. Thx from the Netherlands (Yes, I played 7 years of basketball, but not nearly as popular as it used to be in the 90's anymore)
Richard Dumas what a talent lost amazing skills I can actually state that I have been around 4 of these players things you do not think about in reality until you witness a video like this to remind of the past moments of glory now gone but cherish remember they live on !
