Are you using the DFAT adapter on your optic? Wondering if it’s practical to do without it.

No, my scope can parallax down to 10-15 yards and the paper targets are at 21 yards. You'll only need a DFAT if you're trying to focus down in the 3-5 yard range.

Perfect! My scope will do the same, so that’s good news! Love the videos by the way. Just got into NRL22 this year and having content from experienced shooters is a great way to learn. Thanks!

Great video , but I have a question regarding barrel length. Just bought a CZ457 Varmint in 22WMR which I know cannot be used in NRL22. I'm wanting to get into NRL22 soon but can't decide on what barrel to buy in LR. My options are a standard Varmint 20", a Varmint 24" Nitride SR, or a Varmint 16-1/2" Nitride SR. Any recommendation would be appreciated. Thanks...

Heavier, thicker, and longer barrels seem to be the trend. The reason is that they push the balance of the rifle forward which is important for getting stable on props/barricades. In my limited testing the thicker barrels seem to be more accurate as well but may be more ammo picky (more so for the MTR versions with the tighter match chamber). Are you going factory or aftermarket? For factory barrels I'd lean towards the 24" and 20" as long as they are the heavier profile barrels like the ones that are featured on the CZ 457 Varmint AT-ONE 24" or the CZ 457 Varmint 20.5". I would not recommend the 24" pencil thin barrels like the one on the CZ 457 American. I'd take the 24" over the 20". For aftermarket there are a lot of good options from Lilja, Modacam, and others. With any barrel lot testing ammo will be the key to accuracy. Further improvements can be made by matching headspace to the type/brand of ammo that you use. This can be done through the use of bolt and/or barrel shims. I'm in the process of building out my CZ 457 MTR with 20" barrel for this year's base class. I will have videos detailing the process as well as a lot of upgrades starting next week.

@@CopperStarPrecision Thank-you for the great feedback ! I am going with a factory barrel at this time, only because of cost considerations. If I shoot suppressed I'm afraid the 24" will be getting unwieldy. Maybe the the 20" will work best. Does a nitrided barrel have a bearing on anything ? Really appreciate and respect your opinion...

24" suppressed would be pretty long for getting into and out of barricades like the ladder so if you do plan to use a suppressor 20" is probably the way to go. As for nitride coatings, I don't have enough experience one way or the other, but I don't think it's something that would make or break your decision. My match rifles do not have nitride and I haven't felt like they are holding me back.

Nrl22 props look a little complicated being a shooter who is 6 ft 5 in tall. Do you see many taller shooters?

There are a couple of competitors locally that are that tall. Makes some stages easier, and others harder. It's all about finding what positions work for you.

Hi, is there competition for 22 WMR?

Not to my knowledge. All competitions from NRL22/PRS Rimfire to Benchrest to Olympic Rifle and Pistol sports use 22LR.
