What’s really awesome is that they originally wrote them getting back together fairly quickly. It was Danielle and Stefania that advocated for more of a slow burn reconciliation.

The slow burn was really incredible! THIS is how you create really great ships and character development and story arcs.

I agree with you on this one. I wonder what's gonna be for them in Season 7. Unfortunately, I think we have to wait for a year and a half to see them again.

I really agree with you on everything! I believe, (but it's my headcanons and it may be different from what the writers have in mind) she really does want to be a captain again one day, and, hopefully, she will, she will just have it healthier. she'll deal with it differently and, gosh, I wish we could see it (as long as the show runs, huh) eyes forward is pretty much a messed up thing with a variation of which I've been dealing myself (differently from Maya but still) it takes away so much and I'm glad they made her go through this journey finally however, I, honestly think that Carina might as well need her own therapy, you know? she's been through a lot, she knows it, for sure, but, I think it would've been good for her too. and they need to talk like about a lot of stuff, for example, moving to a new place, since, personally, it doesn't click for me when Carina's being in some ways haunted by their bedroom in 6x15 and then in 6x17 it disappears as all of her fears

actually surprised to see someone, who reads the description lol😂but thanks for the compliment, and, even more so, thanks for the comment, I know I asked, and to have an opinion really matters, cause I'm always really curious about what the others feel! needless to say that I kinda expected them to find a new place since they're rebuilding their relationship and it would've made sense, I think? I mean, obviously, the apartment talk was needed and I know that with Danielle directing 6x16 they couldn't write Carina into the script (which literally sucks, she should be able to have a proper storyline with or without Maya, damn it, she should be more than a wife, but a real complex character with an explored backstory, since Stefania is series regular on the show, come on) the gap between 6x15 and 6x17 and the lack of consistency kinda kills me. It's like her concerns needed to be heard a little bit earlier, no? They had a wonderful moment, when Carina let herself be vulnerable in her wife's arms and get the feedback she needed, get the care and the words of affirmation, support and promises. Now, the fact that the writers did the same thing when they started too much storylines and couldn't finish them in a season be damned. (is it much of a problem to order 2 more episodes at least, huh). And because of that we suffer with the lack of good writing, cause what's supposed to be good turns to the other characters (which I think is fair a little in terms of the show, but doesn't mean it doesn't bother me and my marina feelings) For a 100% agreed about the conversation with Ross, I mean, it makes sense that she was the one to assure Carina, because Maya tried to blackmail her in the first place, but still, it sets back to what I said about the amount of storylines and lack of time to show them. The same goes about the captaincy. We (and Maya) were robbed of the actual investigation, wtf? I mean, I'm not completely opposed to Andy becoming captain, (even though, you're right about her emotions and insubordination, I'm rewatching the earlier seasons rn and in that she hasn't change a bit. her temper is the same. she changed in a way of having experience but hardly personally.) that was the whole point of the show from the beginning, BUT, if they do it then what's next? Kinda don't get it. Suddenly she wants to be battalion chief and chief (6x16) and when I heard it I was like "wait what excuse me". She never thought about being more than a captain and now she suddenly does, while Maya, who dreamed of it, because she was ambitious from the beginning, no thanks to her father, but anyway, WAS LITERALLY ROBBED? Without proper explanation and with double standards from Ross, how nice. (And I have to admit, Natasha makes me confused cause I don't understand what I feel, I both like her and not) I cannot stand the idea that we may never see Maya as captain because, idk, it pains me personally because it's unfair. Also you're so damn right about the toxicity of 19 and I mean bruh guys why are you calling yourself a family meaning you're all caring about each other when you aren't.

Really since they first got together, Carina has had to compete for Maya’s attention when it came to everything in Maya’s life especially the captaincy. This has been addressed subtly and not so subtly from the beginning and Carina made herself okay with that until Maya began to spiral. It was then that she finally had to come to terms with how much she’s actually had to compromise of herself to be in the relationship. Though I know it appears to be the case, I don’t think Maya not taking the captaincy in and of itself is why Carina took her back. It’s about her (Carina) seeing that Maya is okay with the checklist not being completed, that she’s not going climb over whomever she needs to in order to get what she wants and that competitive beast, the one Maya talked about and showed everyone beginning S2, is under control. I think Carina has every right to complain because she knows the cyclical nature of people who have mental health issues and she’s put up with so much so yeah she needs proof that Maya is not only in a good place but she has the tools to stay in a good place and she won’t be tempted to blow up her good place by something that has in the past made her unhealthy and incapable of having healthy relationships. I think Carina would be Maya’s biggest cheerleader if Maya pursued the captaincy because it’s genuinely what she wants not because she has to win at the expense and to the detriment of herself and everyone around her. It’s one thing to pursue a dream that’s truly your own not driven by the obsessive need to not lose with someone you love beside you and quite another to blindly drag and trample all over that person in said pursuit because failure means death. The biggest fumble the writers have made imo is making Maya’s recovery all about Carina which could be purposeful (this is a drama after all). I would love for them to show how making wholesale changes about yourself for someone other than yourself can be detrimental but I doubt they go that route…primarily because the fans are so fairytale oriented that any additional strife between them would cause a riot. Though clumsily written, I do think it was good for Carina to have heard it from Ross because of all the other people hurt by Maya’s antics Ross was 3rd behind Carina and Beckett. Ross has no skin in the Marina game, she has nothing against Carina whatsoever and she had no bts knowledge of Maya circumventing or being clandestine about it (like she did when she got the captaincy the last time) so yeah her reassuring Carina makes sense to some degree. Her reassuring Maya or conversing with her about Carina would have made no sense at all. Ross has been shown as someone who people have underestimated and tried to screw over her entire career. For Ross what Maya did made her no different than all the others who tried to tear her down before so Maya is now an adversary of sorts. I think Ross recognizes that Maya is changing but Maya still has a lot more to prove because she made her attack so personal and not just on her but on Sullivan (yeah he’s an egomaniacal dick but she was willing to further destroy his career for her own) and especially Beckett (she gave an alcoholic alcohol while he was on duty) which from a Chief’s perspective shows how much Maya was willing to screw over her team members especially those in need to get what she wants. All those things are hard to overlook when she (Ross) has literal lives and livelihoods in her hands including her own. As far as the captaincy itself is concerned, this is a drama and the captaincy is no different from the merry go round that happened on Grey’s when it came to Chief of Surgery. It’s for dramatic effect and is bound to happen on a Shondaland show. Not for nothing too, all of the firehouses they’ve shown on this show have been toxic so Maya going elsewhere won’t be too much different.
