Water looks bad but the sound of the ocean and the visitors talking in back ground wer great sounded like every one was having a great time. Still on my list 🥰

Yes, Roatan is in an unfortunate geographic location. They just don't have the turquoise blue water the other islands have. For us, the other amenities at this resort make up for it. Hope you get to go soon!

I absolutely LOVE Maya Chan Beach Resort. Everything is included. Transportation to and from the resort. Your spot on the beach is reserved, so there's no mad rush to "get a good area." They're ALL good areas. The staff is super friendly and so accommodating and the food is delicious. The last time we were there, we met Dave's Dad. Lovely gentleman. Don't hesitate to book a day at Maya Chan Beach resort.

We just got back from Maya Chan a week ago and I can't say enough good things. We cannot wait to go back to this place. The people were so friendly, and the food was awesome. I appreciated the fact that when we arrived David told us everything that was included and where everything was. I didn't want to leave. We will definitely be back! Oh and when we went the water was crystal clear.

This was a very well-produced video! Thanks for showing this delightful area. I have a few questions: did it smell bad/fishy due to the sea weed? I know this is a risk of being here. Have you been able to enjoy the water/beach with the sea weed that comes in there with this location? Trying to plan ahead for what to do at our next cruise. Thanks so much.

Hey Nancy!! On a bad day, the seaweed is noticeable, but not a deal breaker because the peace, solitude, food, and service are so amazing. On a good day, it’s light and not an issue at all. Plus, there’s a pool if one prefers that. Hope things are well with you!

It really depends on the current and the heat. April through October are usually the hottest months in Mexico, so sargassum reproduction is more abundant then. You should be in better shape in February!!

Just put in a reservation request for July 25, 2023. The response was quick, but they are going to shut down their business from June 1 thru August 30 for storm season. Very disappointed, but understand. Now, What do I do. LOL

I've heard that from some others--disappointing. In January, we're trying Jaime's Blue Reef for the first time. I've read good reviews. Here's the website if you'd like to check it out. Hope that helps. I've also read good reviews for Almaplena Beach Club, Hayhu Beach, and Pez Quadro Beach Club. We have not been since. Among E Caribb and AK, we’ve only been to CM once more, in May. We filmed the new port areas instead and went back to the ship to film other content. I haven’t received any info about large changes. Putting in the pool was the last big change they made, I believe. Their website is very helpful to describe the amenities.

The video it says they have only closed for a week after a hurricane, but I just emailed them and they are closed from June 1 through august due to hurricane season…

Just wondering if it is customary to tip the transportation driver? I understand that at Maya Chan all tips would go in the box, not to individuals, but I’m not sure about the car/van drivers.

Not unless the wheelchair has tires meant for sand-over-sized tires. A person with normal wheelchair tires would likely be able to get from the street to the eating area. Beyond that would not be possible without the large tires.

This is a private excursion, for which they include transportation from the cruise port! They are currently priced at $59 per adult. They have three prices for children, depending on the age. Their website is very helpful and linked below the video.

It wasn't bad when we were there, but Costa Maya is set geographically so that they never really have that perfect aqua blue water the other Caribbean ports have. We love this resort for all the other things it offers! They also have a pool now, which is nice.

Unfortunately, Costa Maya, as a whole, is geographically located where they get a lot of seaweed. The water is just not the color of the other Caribbean islands. The resort is very honest about that fact in the information package they send before payment. To us, everything else there makes up for the "less than perfect" water.
