Maya Moore is an American social justice advocate and former professional basketball player. Recognized by Sports Illustrated as the "greatest winner in the history of women's basketball" in 2017, Moore was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2024. In high school, she earned titles such as National Gatorade Player of the Year and Gatorade Female Athlete of the Year. At UConn, she led the team to consecutive national championships in 2009 and 2010, winning the John Wooden Award in 2009. Moore helped extend UConn's undefeated streak to a record 90 games in 2010-11, and became the first female basketball player to sign with Air Jordan. Drafted first overall in the 2011 WNBA draft, Moore joined the Minnesota Lynx, winning four WNBA championships, a WNBA MVP Award in 2014, and a WNBA Finals MVP Award in 2013. She also earned three WNBA All-Star Game MVPs, two Olympic gold medals in 2012 & 2016, and multiple other accolades. Internationally, Moore won titles in Spain, China, and with UMMC Ekaterinburg in Russia. She is one of 11 women to achieve an Olympic gold, NCAA Championship, FIBA World Cup gold, and WNBA Championship. In 2020, Moore was listed among Time's 100 Most Influential People.
