I can't wait to get the X-T5. It reminds me of the X-T2. IBIS is the only thing I wanted the most. I had the X-T4 but it was a bit too big and heavy... I didn't know that I prefer the flip up screen more than the flip out. Because shooting from the hip it's better to have the screen centered, where the lens is also pointed at, instead of looking at the left side of you.

I had a x100v all dressed up with the hood and all that. I really enjoyed that camera. It introduced me into the Fuji world. It also eventually had your channel pop up in my suggested videos to watch a few months ago. I over time decided the fixed focal length is fun but just not for me and my needs. I listed it and sold it within 45 minutes on a forum. Then went down to my local camera store and he just got a shipment of various xt5 combos so I picked up the silver xt5/16-80 kit. I really for some reason struggled with 16-80 or the 18-55 kit but ended up getting the 16-80 kit. I am heavily invested in the Nikon Z world and love it as well. My main kit is usually my z9. I was not that enthusiastic about the zfc as I was the DF when I got it back in the day. So, Fuji is kind of filling that gap. Thank you for the great videos, love the channel and the sense of humor you bring to your videos.

I just got my XT5, and so far I like it a lot. It feels much smaller than the XT4, even though it's really just a few millimeters different; It must have to do with subtile changes in the shape. Have to say that I'm a little pissed off that several manufacturers, including Fuji, have stopped including chargers with their cameras. Seems to me like a stealthy way to increase to price of the camera by $50 to &70. No charger means that if the battery goes flat the camera is out of service while it charges.

Just used the XT-5 for street photography using electronic shutter - necessary if you want to use the "preshot-ES" to catch precise moments of a running or walking subject. The rolling shutter made almost all of the shots unusable, even with a walking subject. I suppose that's a function of the high data burden of a 40MP sensor. Made me nostalgic for how great that function was on an old Lumix GX85 micro 4/3.

The best thing I truly like about this camera is the screen . I’m a photographer and have no interest in video and whilst I understand the draw to including it, I am also unimpressed by the megapixel count because I do not think we need that . If a high res option was included then that might have some value to a non pro user . Therefore , I can see a lot of reasons to stick with a XT 1 or 2 if a stills user . That said , I find a lot to love about this camera . As for the packaging , this is perhaps to reduce waste and landfill ; if that were true , what is it with all that plastic ha ha. Lovely video Omar ! Thanks once again

I’ve only ever had the x-t30, and I am still able to take great pictures with it. I’ve got a lot more to learn in terms of basic photography techniques before I would consider getting a new body. But if I were getting one and had the money, the x-t5 would be for me. Dials for exposure and focus mode, more hand grip depth but less size, flippy screen, and the latest in af, film sims, and battery performance. The added video capabilities and larger sensor would be icing on the cake given my needs. I find the x-t5 design encouraging and hope they continue with this vision for the x-t series so that when I am ready for a new body it will be all that the x-t5 is but more. (And in the meantime I’d love some af and menu kaizen for my x-t30!)

@9Mtikcus
@9Mtikcus Год назад
We pre-ordered the X-T5 which we received on release day, having used (and still are using) X-T3s it was an immediate wow in terms of focus speed and quality. We will still be using both XT-5 and XT-3 for a lot of the work we do in studio with the camera tethered, I don't need 2 card slots, WR, or a lot of the other features so an X-T50 would be a great 2nd body to work with the X-T5 but as far as i know, the X-Txx series does not support tethered shooting which would mean it is unusable for our instant print events (camera - wifi to computer - straight to 8"x6" printer all without cables) The X-T5 is a massive upgrade for our photographer that shoots birds and wildlife first day he was raving about how good the tracking was, and how much more cropping he can do from the 40MP files. For our studio portraits where the frame is filled and normally only printed up to 18" x 12" the 26MP files are more than enough, however shooting video without a gimble and the extra weight is appealing but not £1700 appealing right now to buy another X-T5 when we are happy with the 4K from the T3s

I put it on my X-T4 and realized it was great as an over the shoulder instead of around the neck strap. 🎉The rubbery surface keeps it on your shoulder unless you’re wearing a silk shirt, so don’t do that. I also realized that carrying my camera over my shoulder instead of around my neck was a far more practical way to carry it. The problem in the past was the camera would slip off my shoulder. Not so with this strap. I went from hating to now loving it. And my neck is much happier.

Thanks Omar for all of your content. I upgraded from the X-T3 to the X-T5. It arrived on Thursday. Shot some images around the neighborhood. I was excited to use the Nostalgic Negative film simulation. After shooting I uploaded them into Lightroom Classic v12.01 with Camera Raw v15. After import I clicked on the first photo in the Develop module. The profile said "Provia". Humm I thought a mistake was made during import. Pulled down the profile browser and well that's when I discovered that not only was Nostalgic Negative missing from Camera Matching profiles but so were Classic Negative, Eterna Bleach Bypass and Sepia. Went back to the Library module to check metadata and Yes the X-T5 along with its serial number and the XF 33mm f/1.4 lens were cited in the Library. Couldn't believe it. So I plugged in my X-T5 to the computer and started up X Raw Studio. Yep X Raw had photo listed with Nostalgic Negative plus when I checked all the sims were listed as well in the app. Next just to be sure I went to Capture One 23 and added the shots I took to it and yes those came in on the Auto setting as Nostalgic Negative. I'm not sure If I am the only one who has discovered this error on LRC. I haven't seen any google results for missing camera profiles in LRC. I just wanted to know if you have discovered the same error in LRC? How soon will it be before Adobe fixes that?

I find it funny how some people say that they’re disappointed with the video features of the X-T5. However when the X-T3 came out it was hailed as a great hybrid camera, it’s interesting to see how things have progressed, in any case, I think either camera packs a lot into such a small form factor. I have a X-T3 and I’m not a videographer, more of an old school stills guy, which is why I love Fuji for their retro look and feel. I’ve had a play with the X-T5 and I’m sorely tempted, largely by the IBIS and improved AF, but right now dats a lot of dosh to lay down for a nice to have feature. I’m gonna wait until Fuji run one of their cash back offers, or maybe picked a used or refurbished one once it’s been out a while, Incidentally Omar, that funny looking three pin plug, is the much vaunted UK mains plug adapter, envied the World over 😉

Yep today plus 2 extra batteries and the dual charger. A bit anxious about using with my favorite landscape lens 10-24 due it is not on the preferred list for 40mp. Will be testing it extensively in coming days. Plus hopefully Kirk and/or RRS will have the L bracket soon.

I'm glad you made the observation about whether or not images were out of focus or if the image quality was just muddy. I noticed the same thing in the photos you were showing and didn't want to be the jerk to bring it up. I've really been thinking about the XT-5 but have been wondering if the jump to 40 MP has hurt the image quality more than it's helped, especially where higher ISOs are concerned.

I love your videos, IMO you're among the best on YT. And, I'd like to gently point out there are a significant number of photographers who do not do video on their cameras. Ever. Strictly photography only. For us, shooting video is what iPhones are for. It'd be nice to have a little more stills photography centric material in reviews and camera grading. Thanks.

I've been pretty much only using an old Nikon entry-level DSLR camera and a Minolta SRT 101 for photography for years now. I'm incredibly excited to be getting the X-T5 as my first foray into the modern mirrorless camera world.
@marccabuy926
@marccabuy926 Год назад
Coming from a Minolta SRT 101 you will immediately feel at home. I shoot B&W on a SRT 303 and for color I use one of my Fujifilm camera's with dials. The only perhaps annoying difference may be the aperture ring as it turns in the other direction.
@ElizabethRS
@ElizabethRS Год назад
@@marccabuy926 Yeah I specifically chose to go Fujifilm because I'm used to the individual adjustable dials that the X-T5 has. I'm sure I could get used to the PASM dial, but at the moment I have very little idea on how to use it. Even on my old DSLR, I kept it on manual all the time because I preferred the control of everything.

Omar, why does Fujifilm bother including a neck strap that twists so much its basically soon replaced with a non-Fujifilm one? I've found this annoying strap for all three Fujifilm cameras I have bought. Including any accessory that is sub-par is just poor quality control IMHO.

After some thought, I think I'll wait until all the variants of the 40mp sensor with IBIS to come out, and then decide. I might just upgrade the X100V in this case as this is the camera I'll take out most often. Will see

Been with Fuji since X-T1 and was really excited for their new AF improvements. Tested the X-H2s at the camera store against a A7IV and wasn't as impressed. Fuji AF is indeed better, actually usable eyeAF now, but still isn't as good as I wanted. For stills or non-moving subjects the new AF is good enough, but falls short with motion. Sony still does far better. EyeAF is more sticky and fluid. Not sure if I should wait for firmware improvements or maybe even x-t6, but the A7RV looks very appealing. Does all the new features Fuji introduced in the X-H line, but 1 step better. Like a future X-H3 made available today for twice the price. Higher 60MP. Better stcky real-time AI AF that models the body instead of just search for an eye. Able to guess eye location even behind a helmet or behind obstructions! Flip screen that also tilts! Best of both worlds. 9.4M 0.9x EVF which is massive. Better pixel shift that does movement correction so the slightly change won't be blurry.
@arjunrai9555
@arjunrai9555 Год назад
Sony is the king of AF, so if that’s your no. 1 priority then I’d buy it. Fuji has other benefits (and drawbacks) but it won’t matter if you need the best AF.

Off course de X-T5 is for me! But, after having my X-T3 stolen, sold some lenses (and one guitar) and got a Sony A7III with my two favorite focal lenghts (35 and 85). Perfect camera, perfect auto focus, perfect everything for my concert, family and street shooting as a pure hobby. After that, got yesterday a X-T1 like new for 200eur to use with my 23mm F2 (only lens left) because nobody can't live without a fujifilm!
@christopherbgriffith
@christopherbgriffith Год назад
Yes! Picked mine up yesterday. The hardest decision was the color. I have a silver X-T3 and a black X-T2. Ultimately went silver. Only shot a little with it so far, but I noticed two things right off the bat. First is that the AF on the new 33mm lens is basically instant. The second is that the IBIS is so good for lower shutter speeds to keep the ISO down. I was taking 1/60 shots of my kids watching TV last night in dim conditions and the photos were crisp and had less noise (even at 1250 ISO). I like the beefier grip as I’ve gotten accustomed to using the X-T3 with its grip all the time. I’ll probably buy the overpriced little metal hand grip just to fill it out a bit more, and I got a second battery to have on hand. Super excited to use this at family gatherings over the holidays. I felt like the 4 was very much not for me and this one feels like it was worth the wait.

The Dash 5 tics my boxes: weather resistant making it PacNW friendly, acceptable AF, IBIS, all day carry levels of weight, excellent street size, and the ability to flip the screen without almost doubling the physical width of the camera, and rugged shutter mech. On the to-buy list for mid-2023.

I have X-t2. Wanted too upgrade maybe, but wanted both IBIS and the tilting screen, as I shoot from hip and above the head often. X-t3 - no really a reason to upgrade, X-t4 - no tilting screen, X-t5 - has all of it, finally.... The saddest part is that can afford it but I do not _need_ it... I hoped that X-t2 would give me an excuse to upgrade, but it still chugging along 5 years and a couple of serious drops after, let alone a couple of lost bottom screws, which I had to fix...

I am waiting "patiently" for my X-T5 to arrive. Pretty excited they have basically taken the guts of X-H2 and put it in an X-T3 body (mostly...). I really loved my X-T3 and was always a bit sad that it never got the full firmware upgrade to get the same film simulations, white balance menu, and a few other things the X-T4 had when they both had same processor and sensor. I am sure fuji had their reasons, I just hope it wasn't only to differentiate for sales reasons....maybe there is some subtle technical reason. Anyhoo.... yeah, can't wait for my box to have a second body, making the X-T5 my main and have X-T3 for a backup and to also introduce my daughters into the photography hobby. :D

Very photocentric which I love coming from the XT3 so all the goodies like IBIS, 40mp 3 way flip screen etc along with the improvement in auto focus and tracking which the new generation prcosessor gives us - bought it with the new 30mm 2.8 Macro too so off out to test - can't do RAW yet until the editing software catches up but nice to shoot jpg for a while for a change!!

How is the shutter speed dial, does it go in 1/3 increments? I have an old X-E2, where the shutter speed dial goes in whole stop increments (like 1/30, 1/60, 1/125, 1/250,...). This has made me set it to T, a position which allows me to set the shutter speed to any intermediate 1/3-stop value using the thumb dial on the back of the camera. The result is that the big mechanical shutter speed dial on top of the camera is never used for anything other than contributing to vintage look.

No battery grip = Not for me.. the fantastic 90mm f2 lives on my main camera, a lens that I shoot 95% of the time in portrait mode..I feel Fuji made a mistake here, the X-TX line ALWAYS had a grip, it makes no sense that the T5 doesn't. They're tryin to push people to the XH line, which are not the same with the flippy screen and PASM dials.. I'm sure the new cameras wonderful image capturing machines.. but I'm staying put with my trusty X-T2 workhorse

@@Optidorf Definitely seems like a great camera.. Glad you're enjoying it. The extra megapixels, IBIS, film simulations and bigger battery make it a worthwhile upgrade from my X-T3. But to be honest, those upgrades are all "nice to have" and not "must haves" for me: - I use the 56mm 1.2 most of the time and rarely need IBIS + the 18-55mm 2.8-4 has OIS. - A battery grip with 2 extra batteries give me enough juice to get through the day. - The extra film simulations can be done in post. - The 40mpx are nice for cropping, but most of the time it only will use up more space than needed.

This is the T for me, finally. I chose the X-H1 over the X-T3 in late 2019 because I wanted IBIS and I got a good deal on it with the battery grip etc. Haven't really been happy with it, though. Got an X100V two years ago but, as much as I love to have the camera around me and in my hands, it's just not right and I dearly miss IBIS. So I'm now going to sell both my X-H1 and the X100V which would allow me to purchase an X-T5. This thing's got it all. Amazing on the inside and a classic look on the outside. Can't wait!
