But oddly he doesn't seem to understand that by claiming to be completely incompetent he's also saying he's unfit for the job. Rather than repeatedly saying "Don't worry, my underlings haven't shown me this but it'd never happen," the correct response would have simply been that it was unacceptable for one of his prosecutors to be overstepping, and that disciplinary actions would be taken to fix the situation.
