Nobody can drive home the southern rock sound like MATSOD. I am desperately wanting to hear more, I have everything they made and I need more! Please, guys, bring us more.
its incredibly rare for a hardcore band to stay as hardcore-that method of singing is hell on vocal chords and it leads a lot of artists to choose between going softer or losing a future doing what they love. It's a dumb reason to hate a band. Maylene still kills it, this is awesome
Oh yeah.. I saw them at house of blues Chicago when schuylar croom Fronted for them.. On the third album tour.. Saw them in same place witn Dallas Taylor on lead.. Excellent concert both times..especially when they opened for Clutch..lol
I wish the song wasn't messed up because this band rocks. Been listening to them since their first album and this is my favorite songs plus the video is great
This is pretty much the most mellow song on the album, they didn't "change" so much i think but they sound like they have more constructed songs together, maybe the production was better?
hardcore band?, fuck that shit, maylene was made for being a southern rock oriented band and i really love that, this song is the example, lynyrd skynyr would be fucking proud!
@MurderAt1300 This is from their album III. This album was just as good, but this song added a change of pace. Their new album is the one that is different
To be honest, I've always used this in the argument of what Maylene COULD have been. III was a good album, sure it was a bit softer but it kept the same characteristics and attitude of previous albums. However, IV is just...as everyone said for this album but true, it really is Nickelback or Theory of a Deadman instead of the southern metal/rock band we've all come to love.
You think this is bad. Check out the latest cd they just put out in Nov of 2011. III had some pretty ballin tracks but nothing compares to the first two. That shit was legit.

Changing your style and selling out are not the same thing. Selling out is what Atreyu did back in the day. Their music became more simple and boring while it also got softer and more radio friendly. Maylene didn't sell out, they just started singing instead of yelling. Yes this song is softer than old Maylene, but it's no less intricate or well put together. Plus selling out means you get more popular. They did the unpopular thing by changing their style. People change and so does the music they want to make.
Atreyu selling out? hahahaha yeah right... that's why now in their Hiatus all of them have their own bands which are pretty good and true. Atreyu just sign with a major record label so they could get to other places. BANDS EVOLVE, SO DOES THEIR SOUND. if you wok, you get paid... guess what? they work on the music industry, they're suppossed to make money out of it.
Ferret records became a subsidiary of Roadrunner at this point which had Maylene move this way. And on IV Ferret records got completely bought out which made Maylene a part of Roadrunner fully whichnis why you have the even moreso drastic change on that album. That is the only reason that their music changed. Because they had to if they wanted to make music anymore. Now they do a tour once a year just for fun and won't make music because therw is no money.
At this point, I think they would have been better staying under Gotee, and doing a distribution contract with a bigger label. Tobymac and the guys at MonoVs.Stereo seemed to give them more creative control than they got from Ferret.

(To the people who actually like this song) I'm covering it with my friends for this year's graduation, and none of us can find the lead guitar bit, like we can find the chorus, opening riff and verses but not the lead. Help?
awesome band, that have so many different sounding songs, sucks this one is kinda skippy...but man I want that car, 70' Chevelle SS with a 454ci..thats balls to the wall for sure
Sad. So many bands blow it out when they are unknown, but there comes a time when they have to make the call - either toil in obscurity or give in and get paid. Looks like the time to get paid has come. Now they sound like everyone else - so spend wisely.
Maylene is awesome, I just saw them in Nashville. Guess how many songs they played off the 4th albumn. This song. They didn't play any more because it doesn't even sound like normal Maylene. DUH. I love Maylene, but they fucked the 4th albumn.
I love this song and this band. But this video seems poorly done in my opinion. Looks like a band that isn't signed to a major label. I blame this on Ferret.
