I'm a 61 year old lady and this Video was great helping me repair my dishwasher. My impeller was broke so I'm purchasing a new and then going to follow video to put back together.
Tremendous video. This is the 2nd time I referenced it and succeeded both times repairing my 30+ year old Maytag. Friends who bought new ones are disappointed in the performance and regret not fixing it instead. Thanks again for the help!
I decided to do the same thing because it's not rusted. No smell. Cleans well it was here, when I bought the house. I think the inlet needs replacing and will have my son check the filter for debri. Water isn't coming in, after a floor leak, but it' still comes on without the water. Heating element still works too. Better machines than the new ones.
Excellent video! My model is slightly different, but I couldn't figure out how to remove the pump cover - the screws were obvious, but mine has a spray tower. Once I saw you remove the retaining nut, I realized I just had to unscrew the fixed (lower) part of the spray tower. This video was a lifesaver! (And I discovered I need a new filter)
Fantastic video. I didn't realize that two of the parts had actually fallen apart until I watched the video. I bought the two new parts and presto, magic, it's all together and working again. Thank you!!
Thanks for the video! Now I dont have to buy a new dishwasher and now it looks and works like new and all I did was tear it apart and clean everything.
Great video, helped me clean the filter and the area under the impeller. But I need instructions on fixing a Maytag dishwasher that won't drain. I cleaned these parts hoping it would fix the problem, the filter ring was pretty gunky. But it still won't drain and I don't know why. The dishwasher is a newer model with digital control panel but the inside looks the same as in this video.
My May-die dishwasher quit washing. Stumbled on your how-to video here and said, "GREAT!!!" I didn't know the proper assembly so didn't know what was a screw fitting. Impellor was broken. New one on the way! Update... There was an EXTRA part inside the pump assembly that in NO WAY belonged there!!! It is not in your video and not on the parts diagram. It also was what likely broke the impellor!! I can only think that somebody worked on this in the past (we got it used) and did this intentionally. The dishwasher was previously very loud (4 years for us!) and now it's QUIET!!!
The impeller removal is difficult on many of these Maytag dishwashers. I used a 50 cent coin to lay on lower tray, then a large flathead screwdriver to pry the impeller off. Unfortunately I snapped pieces off the impeller but did save the lower tray from any damage with the coin technique. You must pry around the impeller, bracing the flathead screwdriver on the ribbed areas of the impeller where there is more plastic to prevent breaking. This process took me about 10 minutes, and the impeller WILL come off. Be patient, and learn from my mistake. This Maytag dishwasher is a solid machine.
@@stevenwatson9678 I'm having that problem now. I soaked it in wd40 all night and it still won't budge. It must be rusted on. I'm going to keep the wd 40 on it today and try prying it off.
Thanks... we just did this after having a grinding noise... only used the video to see how to take apart.. did not replace parts... but now it leaks ???? What could we have done wrong ?? No more grinding.. found miscellaneous items and cleaned out..
My old dishwasher looks just like that one. It is a maytag jetclean. The problem that popped up is that the liquid gel detergent didn't all dissolve. The dispenser door did open but not all the gel was gone. I know the water ran in and drained, so what happened? Any ideas?
when my washer gets to the fist drain cycle I hear a electronic hum sound then it cuts out and does not drain. I don't know how this is supposed to work so any info would be appreciated. the first water fill is completed then the motor works for first clean cycle. it looks like the same motor then does the drain cycle maybe in reverse spinning direction????
If the dirt left on the dishes is bits of food particles I would be checking to see if it is filling to proper level. If the issue is more of a film being left I would check the rinse aid dispenser to make sure it is working ok. if you have recently changed the brand of detergent, that can affect cleaning performance as well. Ensure your hot water supply is at the manufacturer'ss suggested setting. At the end of the cycle check to make sure all the water has been pumped out of the dishwasher.
