If your dryer looks like this one, this is the near-universal kit to fix it: bens-appliances.com/products/whirlpool-dryer-noise-repair-kit-4392065-includes-691366-341241-349241t?_pos=2&_sid=3c3430674&_ss=r
Thanks. Have this same exact model. Had it apart twice. Cleaned it up and lubed the rollers. Helped for a while. Ordered repair kit at your website today.
Thank you! My maytag dryer had suddenly started squeezing very loudly during a cycle. My wife found your video and dared me to do this "easy" repair just the way you'd done it. We ordered the parts listed here and for less than $30 we repaired our dryer in about an hour. You just saved us over $150 dollars in repairs. Cheers!
I wish I could hug you! You’re video saved me! I’ve been a single mom and I don’t really have someone to help me figure out these things but I found a marker in mine and now it works great again!!! Thank you again!
Thank you! Just taking it all apart and putting it back together seem to somehow fix the banging around. The only tricky part was putting the beltloop back through the the idler pulley as your wrist was in the way for those crucial few seconds. Eventually got it figured out through trial and error and a bit of knuckle skin. Thank you, your video was extremely helpful and got the job done!
I gotta say i loved your video my man. We have same model and it was making some crazy violent noise and to be honest i still dont know what the issue was but i took it a part and put it back together and it seems to be working so ill take it haha. But your video really made things a breeze. If all appliances had repair videos like this I'd probably never buy another new one just keep repairing it. Gotta love right to repair.
I totally fixed my dryer by watching this video! Ordered the parts kit in the link. Works perfectly. Thank you SO much for posting this. Saved us a lot of money!
You sir are my hero, not only did you have the video showing how to, you link the parts I need. Hell yes. Mine was a bad lower roller wheel but if I replace one, may as well replace it all
This was a very helpful video. Thanks for the content. I fixed my dryer and saved what would have been an expensive service call. I also learned that it would be crazy not to take it apart and clean it every two years or so! Our dryer is in the basement, so cleaning out the vent hose will really help it be more efficient.
I remembered how hard it was to get those DRAT tri clips off while replacing the wheels. WOW!!! Thanks for this vid that took me down memory lane. Cheers from S. CA
A helpful video! The first time I watched, you made me realize the importance of removing the back panel and cleaning that area. I'll be doing that seasonally from now on. I purchased your kit because my Maytag dryer was making a loud thumping noise, along with its signature squeak. While that makes for a wonderful beat for a background track, it's not conducive to a healthy appliance. I received the repair kit in 2 days (absolutely amazing!) and successfully fixed my dryer. All the parts fit perfectly! For anyone reading, I have the Maytag dryer model MEDC215EW1. Thank you, Ben!
I ordered the parts through your link. Received them in 4 days. Followed your instructions and the problem is solved. Thank you! My dryer is a Maytag Dryer MGDC215EW2.
Thanks a ton for this video. I watched a dozen others before finding yours and yours was by far the best video and exactly what I needed. I appreciate how you explained every step in the process and gave tips along the way to make it easier for us. I never thought I would be able to disassemble and reassemble a dryer! My dryer was making an awful dog-whistle-like squealing. I didn't have any replacement parts so I just followed your video and cleaned the wheels (I used brake cleaner) and put the tiniest amount of lithium grease inside the rollers. I also cleaned the pulley and put the tiniest amount of WD-40 on it (not the pulley itself but its moving parts). It seemed to fix the problem as the dryer is running wonderfully now. You might have said this but I would like to emphasize how sharp some of the metal edges are. When I finally got the front put back on I noticed I jad sliced two of my fingers (on different hands) on the inside of the front panel. It looked like a murder scene 😅 so be careful everyone.
Helpful. But folks, when you take your dryer apart, pay special attention to the blower seal (gasket where the front of the dryer meets the blower fan). Mine was stretched out beyond re-installation. The replacement part for my Maytag MDE4000AYW is no longer available new. I lucked into a resale of one on ebay, but if I hadn't found a suitable replacement, replacing the drum rollers/axles, drum belt, and felt seal would have been too much time and money down the drain. Be forewarned and check your blower seal to find out if it is still in good shape before you open up those replacement parts.
Success!! I installed the kit today and the problem is gone. Thank you so much. BTW, I found about $4.00 in change inside the machine, a little reward for 90 minutes of my time to install the kit.
Interesting video to say the least. I appreciate the time you give to do it. Does the dryer sound quiet now? Also I notice you didn't use a power driver on the screws. Is there a reason for that? Thanks for the video.
I just dont for videos because I usually want people to think "Oh, I can fix this with just a screwdriver!" but the next video that bit me because of dealing with a side by side fridge. Eventually I'll probably just switch permanently to a power drill on everything because its just soo much faster on and off camera. We always try to use drills off camera, but on camera I've tried to make it simple. Dryer is quiet now and sold already
This video was perfect man but I’d say to put the drum on the back pulley first too. That part was causing me a huge problem. Other than that this video was amazing. I wish I was rich so i could send you some money for removing the stress I just went through. I hope you receive good karma for being a good person. Asap.
You have another sub! lol Have you done a video on freezers? I wasn't able to find one in your list...but I'm a dummy on computers, so it's possible I missed it. If not, could you? I am thinking: Upright vs Chest, Brands, Expected Longevity, etc. Also, how to repair if they still run but act more like a fridge than a freezer. I live in remote-ish Alaska, so having large freezers is very important to us. Thank you sir, you certainly have the gift of teaching!
😄...i caught the St Anger Metallica jab....reminds me of a similar post when you said "first lets chk the drum for trash that can make the noise and get rid of it" ...and you tossed the St Anger cd...lol classic 😎
that squeaking drive me crazy i spary White grease on the wheel shafts every 30 days it's worth it to not hear that squeaking sounds thank god i have a older Kenmore dryer it takes about 20 minutes to do 😊😊😊
Dealing with squalling noise in mine. Got the rear apart, everything looks good but the blower housing is a bit of a turd to put back in! Getting ready to put on insulated ski gloves to get the top connector harness apart...I like to keep my ladyhands pretty and no scars😉 Pretty sure blower or pulley is going wonky.
Great video. Do you have a video for a Maytag gas/propane clothes dryer that is making noise? Would the repair parts you linked be the same? (The lint screen is at front, after you open door). Thanks!!
Love your videos! Your appliance recommendations have saved us time, headaches and serious money. I have an older Maytag Ensignia Electric Dryer Model No.: MDE8757AYW (the lint filter is inside on the lower front of the unit). Will the Whirlpool Dryer Noise Repair Kit work for this model?
I just did a dryer repair on my circa 1963 Lady Kenmore gas dryer. Every 15 years the blower belt stretches and starts with a squeal. Even my neighbor commented on the noise. This is the third time I installed a new belt. They say warm up the belt in water, then stretch it by hand. I managed to get it on, anyone know an easier way?
My Maytag centennial dryer has a issue where once it runs and for a while, if I open it to then close it and try to run it again, I hear a buzzing noise behind the timer selector wheel and it won't start up again until I unplug it and let it sit for a while. I bought a kit with all the sensors and the heating element and it didn't fix the problem. Any clues to what it could be?
So my top load washing machine stops in the middle of a cycle and if I apply pressure to the lid it starts up again. What could the reason be for this?
OK here's one for you. 2010-era Maytag electric dryer. Seems to work fine, but a few seconds after I start it, there's this whining (eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee) sound that lasts for maybe five seconds then stops. Sometimes hear it faintly during the dry cycle on occasion as well. It *doesn't* do it on the fluff cycle (no heat). Any ideas?
Any thoughts on fixing newer model GE profile (model PTD60GBSR0WS) intermittent vibration from burner shield cylinder and back duct running up toward drum? There’s no missing screws or broken tabs from what’s shown in online IPC. The parts can be made to rattle just tapping on them.
PLEASE help!! My Maytag model is MGDX655Dw2...... I want to order the parts but im not too sure these will work on my model. Any help will be grateful. Thank you!!
I have a top of the line Kenmore washer, top load, that won't drain on a regular wash. I have to move the dial to another setting, usually drain to get the water out. I'm a widow on a pension and can't afford a big bill to get it fixed. I'm pretty handy, so I'm wondering if I could fix this myself.
Anyone know if LG front load washers 'stink'? Sure, I could buy that powder stuff and spend a fortune to avoid the smell, or I could just continue to buy top load. I'd like an LG front load, large capacity, but I can't stand the smell front loads leave on clothes.
Front loaders never smell if you do the following things: -run a cleaning cycle with a cup of natural white vinegar once a month, if you haven't done this and the clothes stink you have to do multiple cleaning cycles until the odor is gone -never ever close the door after washing, always leave it cracked open. Same for the detergent tray -don't overdose detergent, you only need a bit Applying these simple rules and you will always have very neutral smelling laundry, I have had LG front load washers for 20 years now.
The level of cheapness and 💩 design of these is quite unbelievable. Design mentality of “Save 4 cents here, 2 cents there” year after year, this is what you end up with. Why even have a belt and pulley when it would be easy to direct drive the drum with the motor sitting right there, it would last forever…
