Following points were not covered as part of Akera, which significantly distinguish mazda cx5 from others. 1. HUD display: Its so nice and simple. Blindspot information is not only displayed on the mirrors, but shows on the display as well. 2. Memory Seats: You can save the drivers seat position in memory, but it can as well be set to key. when some one opens door using that key, the seats are automatically adjusted to the number. 3. Diesel Engine: Its turbo engine. But best thing, once you have reached the acceleration 0-100/110 kmph, the revs are under 2000. This coupled with perfect insulation, we hardly hear any noise on a level freeway. Not sure, about petrol car, i have not driven one. 4. Bose Audio System: Adjust the bass and treble setting along with bose audio pilot and you feel like you are in a movie theater. 5. Lane Assist: Set the setting in "early", the car tries to align the car in the center of the lane. we can feel it on your hands. Its like this, we think car is moving towards the lane, and the moment we think, we should turnleft, the car steering turns left, before you attempt. It looks as though miracle just happened. 6. istop: car stops at signals and starts upon touching acceleration pedal. Best part is its very fast. you hardly discover that it stopped/started. 7. Autohold: push the autohold, once you enter the car. once istop stops the engine, you can remove the feet on the pedal. the car stays as it is. This does not sound great, this is because, i m not good with explaining. This is really good. Drawbacks: 1. No Android Auto, Apple car play. (I would have not used anyways...) 2. traffic updates feature is good, but needs subscription. Not a biggy, as its less than 200 for 3 years. but still you need to pay for it. 3. fuel Consumption is quite high than expected, especially in city. 4. Some settings needs to be turned on/off everytime you step in the car. had they been embedded in the permanent setting option, it would have been better, for example, Autohold/istop. (Did not feel like a big thing to me). 5. Lane Assist in advertisements sounds like this car is an autonomous sort of vehicle. But it isnt. get used to idea that this is lane assist, not autnomous. nevertheless, i loved lane assist as it is.

Not too sure about comments RE: Tiguan vs CX-5 interior quality. Almost every surface in the CX-5 is soft-touch, Tiguan is soft touch on the dash and front doors only, otherwise everything else is scratchy and hard (and decidedly un-VW). CX-5 is also a lot quieter at speed - lucky the Akera has radar cruise control because I unknowingly hit alarming speeds with the new CX-5 on motorways. Best in class if you want a diesel, though the 2.5 petrol leaves a lot to be desired.

I would rather the Mazda CX-5 over the VW Tigaun any day! The Mazda may not seem as "polished as the Tiguan" but it will definitely be far more reliable!

I just got my cx5, the wheels look not bad in the shade. The Diamond cut accents look really good in that setting. But when the sun is on them and you notice the dark parts they do look not that great. ill Be getting new Summer rims once i switch these to winter tires this year.

The car is really amazing, I was driving today in the heavy traffic , 4.5 hours to Alabama in the rain with adaptive cruise control etc. , it's feels very stable at high speeds even on wet surfaces, I definitely get less tired after long drives. It's a combination of stability, comfort, low noise level . My wife recently drove CRV to South Carolina , when came back now she wants desperately to upgrade to Mazda, maybe blue ?

the mazda is the best of all ,in my humble opinion.problem is that in this segment there is so many good ones to choose from.kia,hyundi.honda,nissan,ect.there is even the new volvo xc40.in the end its all a matter of taste.

A road tester doesn't know if bigger wheels count as a "win". Every manufacturer I'm aware of, including Volkswagen, puts larger and larger wheels on their models as they escalate the trim levels. So I think that's a win, IMHO. As a motoring journalist, I'm sure that the Volkswagen would be the better SUV to drive on a race track, but I know which one I'd rather own and use for its intended role, stupid in-house Mazda infotainment system notwithstanding.

Is Volkswagen more popular everywhere but here in the U.S.? Everyone here seems to think VWs are unrealiable and junk but reviewers in Europe and Australia praise VWs. CX5 > Tiguan any day.
Dude get your facts right. You saying (2:13) CX-5 trunk is bigger than previous model but not as big as Tiguan. Before I bought CX-5 I did check trunk in VW Tiguan and comparing to CX-5 looks very claustrophobic. VW Tiguan cargo - 23.8 cu ft. Mazda CX-5 cargo 30.9 cu ft. It is 30% difference, how can you not notice that??? How I or any one can take you as solid source of information? Not coming back to your channel anymore.

It is a new model (which is yet to be released in USA) and it is class leading for luggage space. But on that note, the new Tiguan USA model will be even bigger. With even more luggage space. If you compare apple to oranges you right. On the other hand I suggest compare apple to apple. Capacity given by mazda are measured with rear seats up and up to tonneau cover. Key word: tonneau cover. Capacity given by VW are measure to roof. Even if cars are for different market or continent there are some differences you right, but those diferences are not that big. Using common sens wont hurt anyone, but if cars are in the same class like sedan, suv, cuv.... Can car shorter by 7cm have 40% bigger trunk? something to think about?

The wheels ARE hideous! That would be the first thing I would recycle on this car, followed by that ridiculously bent and kinked chrome sausage under the front grille.
