Hey backyard Chevy you say towards the end to tighten the screws to certain pounds. I think the caliper screws were 22? How is that measured? Can it be measured? It would be my first attempt at brake pad replacement and I want to do it right. Also is a resurface of the rotors necessary or not? Thanks!
@backyardchevy328
@backyardchevy328 2 года назад
Well that would be done using a torque wrench..if u get new brake pads, resurfacing the rotor gives u a fresh surface for the brake pads..so they work better..with better stopping grip..or u can replace the rotor if necessary

what about cleaning pushpins and bleeding an old break fluid which is right by the caliper??
@backyardchevy328

Cleaning pushpins and adding brake lubricant to em should be done...bleeding old brake fluid i dont do because it could introduce air into the system and could cause worse problems, i would rather bleed old brake fluid completely separately.

@backyardchevy328
@backyardchevy328 3 года назад
Anytime🙂..the rears will last longer than the fronts..they almost last twice as long as the fronts..but depends on how much miles u put on the vehicle per year and also depends on the type of driving..freeway driving will wear out brakes less than city stop and go driving
