I bought the Soul Red 2016 Mazda CX5 Grand Touring AWD for my wife. It is fully loaded. There are several features that I am impressed with. I won't try the city stop feature because I think it is too risky. I may use a cardboard box to see if our Mazda will stop. We currently have 415 miles on it and my wife loves it. The Sport mode gives you more rev, but I would prefer a more powerful 4 liter engine. The gas mileage is great at 26 mpg in city traffic. After rebates and my trade in, I think I got a good deal at $27,590. The HD radio, Pandora, SiriusXm, bluetooth, talk to text, verbal navigation commands, cruise control distance detection, side view blind side detection lights and a few other apps are all a plus for me. There are many features for a great price. I am driving my wife's '16 Mazda CX5 GT around town more than my BMW now.
Hi CarLadyLisa: First of all let me say that you seem like an awesome car sales lady and your videos are great! Last week I traded in my CX-5 2014 for a GT 2016 and could not be happier! The Infotainment system is fantastic and overall the interior is more spacious and up scale. My only complain with my purchase is that the dealership I bought from charged me a $400 administration fee! Mazda Canada proudly advertises "no administration fees" and yet they allow dealerships to add this extra costs to new cars and that is not cool! Anyways keep up the good work CarLadyLisa, you are awesome!
Papi Chulo Thanks for the comment & Congratulations on the new ride! This doesn't sounds right but I can really only speak for our dealership in Ontario. Could they have a charge for a product like nitrogen or theft registration perhaps? If you feel you got a great deal then don't sweat it and question it the next time. Glad you are enjoying it. :)
Thanks, Lisa, for putting together this video. I appreciate that you braved the frigid cold to make it. It is a very timely subject and found it very informative.
Thank you. This video was the perfect answer to my questions. We have a 2013 CX-5 and LOVE it so much that we've already pre-disposed ourselves to getting another (new model) one. We are just sorry to see the particular shade of red for our 2013 no longer available.
Lisa, as I compare my 2016 Mazda 6 GT to my Wife's 2015 CX5 GT the differences are HUGE. I think I might see how much of a hit we will take to upgrade to the new year. She only has 4k miles on it and still looks showroom condition.
johnnieace45 Yeah they did a few pretty nice things to the 16. Just be sitting down when you get that info. Generally its 20-30% of its value. Reason being...Although it is very new, it's still considered a Pre-Owned vehicle at that point. Subject to cleaning, safety inspection and selling it for less than a new one. Why not enjoy the one you have? Comparison is the thief of joy. ;)
Thank you for your great videos, Lisa. I have been waiting for 2016 CX-5 for sometime and your videos definitely make my waiting shorter. :) Don't you know if you can put mp3 loaded SD card into the slot? In other words, is the SD slot functionality limited to accessing navigation maps? In my current car, I can use both, the SD slot and USB ports for playing mp3 files.
It's interesting how a subtle change to the headlights and grill make a difference to a car's appearance. Although not a huge exterior change to the CX-5 the 2016 version stands out a lot more.
I really have to buy car from this lady .. she is so knowledgeable in the cars ..i need one suggestion Lisa ..if i have to pick one between these two cars both used with same kms .. how much price difference i should consider ??
I was locked out of my 2015 CX5 with the car running, I had the key fob in my coat pocket and I went to clean the snow off my car and then I couldn't get back in as the doors locked. I had to use the actually key. Is there a setting that I should change so I don't get locked out of my running car again? thanks,
This is the first I've heard of this happening. I'm not sure if there is anything you could do differently. The programmable walk-away locks on the GT models only work when the vehicle is off. There is a menu for vehicle settings through the touch screen with options for doors & locks. You may have to play with some settings and trial and error. Did you press the lock switch on the fob or the lock switch from the inside? Generally the vehicle is not supposed to lock when the fob is outside the vehicle. Is your battery in the fob low?
I test drove a 2016 with a guy from the dealership, and he says the 2016 has less noise, which is one of the main complaints about the 2015. Wouldn't this make people want to buy the 16 over 15 if the price isnt that much different?
They added more sound dampening material so yes 2016 is quieter. You see...that's the thing. Pricing is subjective to interest rates, lease rates, cash rebates so purchasing the outgoing model is always beneficial for the pocketbook. It really depends on ones specific needs and wants. If you see value in the 2016, you will find every reason to purchase it and same with a 2015.
+Radek Svoboda That's wonderful. SD card slot is for Navigation only. The Audio menu does not have an option to select the SD card for music. You have 2 USB's to chose from instead.
+Andre Baez Officially no. My Part Manager advises me that the internal connections may not fit. Going from halogen/projector beam to an LED. It would be at clients risk to try and no guarantee it will work. If someone does I'd love to post a video of a successful swap.
Nice review Lisa, already the CX-5 is a winner since it was launched few years ago. 2016 model looks very nice but somehow I like some cues of the previous 2015 version specially the honeycomb front grille. What do you think?
Not sure....Colour is really personal preference. When it gets warmer I'll do a video and take you though the colour options. It's so cold here right now the crunch of the snow hurts your teeth!
Just bought a 2016 CX-5 but finding it hard to look for reasonably priced custom fit all weather floor mats. Do you know if the 2015 floor mats would fit the 2016? Thanks!
+Topp Brocales They will yes. We sell a Mazda weather tech type mat. Front and rear are $304 + hst for the set. Don't know how much cheaper you will find a custom mat.
Thanks for the swift reply +CarLadyLisa! Our deal included just the front OEM mats so I'm looking for the second row and cargo liner. Do you have a link?
You can do the rear floor liner for $129+HST and cargo tray $125+HST. If you are in the GTA send me your contact info through www.carladylisa.com to make arrangements.
Unfortunately,I like the 2015 better, still like the CX7 best for size and space! great video though thanks! You forgot the most important detail though the new 7 year warranty!
I bought a 2015 and love it, but I do like the look of the 2016, and the stereo looks nicer. However, I think I'll eventually upgrade the head unit, and I cannot be without an e-brake. It's just too much fun to pull in the winter.
Hi Lisa, could you please make a short Video from the colour titaniumflash at daylight, maybe with the 19" sport wheels? And maybe with the meteorgrey next to it? Many thanks :)
No. So awesome! The more in demand this vehicle is, the hotter a commodity on the used car market. Bet you got a fantastic deal & look what you have to choose from the next time around. :)
Dont be sad..even the 2015 mazda cx 5 looks hot :) every year mazda gonna looks better and better :) may be u gonna like more 2017 mazda then 2016...:)
Ian Chan Don't be sad. The Mazda Connect system allows for future upgrades/enhancements. With these Third Party programs its harder to regulate and warranty if an issue presents itself. Mazda has safety and governing road laws in mind when they develop the programs. www2.mazda.com/en/publicity/release/2013/201309/130924b.html
