@@victoriavarlam its been 1year now and I am very happy with it! The only con is that it has a firm ride, but just like most other cars nowadays. There are many pros..its super fun to drive, I just love going on twisty roads, it gives you such confidence no matter what speed you're going. Everything in and out is super high quality, sound insulation is awesome...and its Mazda - everyone loves it! You'll have haters no matter what brand you take, but not Mazda :) Oh...and if you get petrol, its super quiet, super economical, BUT you gotta be skilled with gears if you want performance since it doesn't have turbo, revs are very important. Regular service is cheap, but body parts are expensive, so good insurance is a must. All in all, I tried everything in that price range, and to get that CX5 quality inside and out you gotta add AT LEAST 15k to go in the upper class. Nothing in its price range gets even close. Other than CX5 I only got that pleasantly surprised with 3008/5008

In Australia the CX-5 is the no. 1 seller in it's segment(RAV4 may challenge it soon) but we still went with the Tuscon Elite. Whilst the CX has the better drive train and the interior is more lush the Tuscon is the best riding vehicle in it's segment. This is due to it being locally tuned to our conditions. Few other small advantages over the CX, boot space, comfort, spare, tech etc. Would be happy with either and even the Sportage I'm sure. Nice review.

I agree, even though the petrol version of the cx-5 lacked power everywhere below 5000 rpm. The exterior and interior design are elegant and I agree the suspension needs quality damping its too springy soft expecially when encountering course roads. Still the one I'd choose out of the 3 easily. With a more capable engine it could be fun. Also needs 50mph 6gear auto shift like the cx7 has, but I suspect its too far down on power.

Oh and that boot cover he complained about - this is the only car on which I DIDN"T remove it right away, since it is attached to the boot door and rolls upward along with it like a curtain. Genius. Side notes: cloth seats are much more comfortable than leather seats and if you don't get Bose sound, you get some extra boot space. Petrol does need some revs if you wanna use all those horses.

Hey Mat. I am Big fan! Love your vids. I have a Hyundai Tucson and a Seat Ateca. Just want to share my findings with people considering the Tucson if you don't mind. These points are basically neat picking but you need to do it when selecting which car to commit to, for the next 10 years of your life. I will be comparing my 2 cars on certain points because at the moment my SEAT is a similarly price car, it's also SUV purchased within the same year hence same era cars. Similar size boot, similar size. So here it goes. My top Hyundai Tucson negative things. Mind you, these are not by order of importance. 1) The position of the sun glasses holder on the roof of the car, is right next to the center mirror and in the way when looking in the mirror. On my other car that is a bit further back hence not in the way. 2) No mood lightning. On my other car it comes as standard. 3) The light under the side mirrors is just a regular lamp. On my other car there is a stencil on the light which displays the name of the car and an outline of it's shape.Really cool imho. 4) Multimedia System has the radio button which is the most used on the left (far from the driver). They use this screen from the left hand drive cars and didn't switch them to the other side where the driver is i guess cause manufacturers want to save money i guess. On my other car they did the same mistake. 5) RDS rarely works, and if it works, it takes ages on the radio for RDS info to appear on the screen. Usually it says "No artist info" even when at the same time on my other car the same station does display RDS info. 6) No radio station logo recognition on the Hyundai. On my other car it actually downloads the logo image of every station and makes station selection a piece of cake. 7) Very mono chromatic multimedia system at least when you are in radio mode. Looks dated. 8) My upgraded Krell audio system is barely "ok". The original audio system was horrible. On my other car sounds better with the standard audio system. 9) The Arm rest in the Tucson is static. On my other car it moves forward and adjusts up/down with many positions for you to pick just the right one. 10) The back seats don't have a ski door and only tilt back. They don't slide back and forth. 11) The Tucson boot hook is placed too low so you cannot actually hang anything there. 12) The boot floor of the Tucson floor cannot be lowered unless you remove the spare wheel. On my other car floor can be lowered without removing the spare. 13) The turning radius is quite big. On my other car i make a 3 point but on the Tucson i need a 5-point. 14) The Tucson in my region doesn't have an economy mode. Must Standard and Sport. The Tucson in Australia (don't know about UK) does in fact have an economy mode. 15) First gear in the standard mode is so short, that i am in danger while exiting from crossing, or entering roundabouts due to the small pause in response right after you hit the throttle while changing gear. 16) Fuel Consumption is dreadful. 10L/100km in the city while driving carefully... This is double than what the consumption figures were advertised 17) Suspension is too soft and car leans/tilts on turns too much to the point where rear passengers get dizzy... On my other car no such problem. very good handling 18) On speed bumps the Tucson literally jumps over them and things in the boot (primarily my baby stroller) actually jumps off the boot floor in the air so you can hear it banging on every speed bump. On my other car i don't have such problem with the same speed. 19) The doors... have a portion which is outside the car exposed to the elements... On my other car the doors go all the way to the bottom of the car, so when you climb our, your pants don't get dirty as that part that your rub against while climbing out the car is permanently protected inside the car. 20) The seats of the Tucson are too wide. When i am turning, i tend to slide out of them. On my other car the seat hugs you so nicely that its a much more comfortable feeling. Thank you

Also I noticed that windshield is very reflective at night , do you have the same issue? They have very thirsty awd , which you probably not using. @philippsladek99
@philippsladek99 5 лет назад
Of course they won't sell well in most of Europe, since many people try to either drive german cars or alternatively another European manufactured car. If someone is looking for a cheaper car they aren't the first brand to look at either. So it makes sense that they don't sell that well. But I gotta say for such a small manufacturer they are doing alright anyway

@Dictator_Sheikh_Salman Nothing against Mazda, I actually love them. Also a lot of people seemed to like the current Mazda's but when it comes to the buyers they usually end up with a different brand. I think it's a shame cause Mazda has so many things going for them. Maybe because most of their cars are less roomy than others and the lack of a stationwagon (but a small car brand won't make one for just a small market; West-Europe)

You use the word "odd" a LOT!! and that tells me nothing! What exactly does "odd" mean to you? Pick a more descriptive word. Plus you did not mention the major differences in the OPTIONS that you can get for the prices of these vehicles. You can load out the Tucson (Ultimate) with every feature imaginable for thousands less $$$$ than the CX-5. Ventilated seats for example are a major help in the HOT summers in the USA. The only reason to get the CX-5 is for the extra "pep" of the engine....IF that is what you want, then buy a sports car. Otherwise the best value for the money is the Tucson which gives you everything for a much cheaper price... PLUS a 7 year warrantee bumper to bumper!!
