My best lap time (PB) during the recent Nugget Nationals event.
This is a 'mostly' standard NA MX-5 with NB drive-line swap. It runs all stock NB parts, including the OEM ecu, exhaust intake, wiring, dash etc.
Car specs:
NB VVT 1.8 engine
NB 6 speed gearbox
NB brakes
NB Torsen LSD
15x9 Wheels with Hankook RS3

Thanks for this! Going to Winton Tuesday the ND2. It’s her first time there. Been binge watching all MX5 onboards and playing iRacing. Hoping to get low 1:40s. Got new Shockworks coilovers, Advan AD09, performance pads/fluid braided lines, Goodwin exhaust, RaceChrono, OBD2 and GoPro. All that means nothing if the talent runs out LOL If you’re there I’ll come say hi. Mines the red GTRS RF 😅

@@greghill6117 As a kid I'd walk home from school, and often wandered past a house that had a 928 in the driveway. I always thought it was a cool car. Hopefully someday I can add another Porsche to my garage that has a few more cylinders than the 944!

I could only get a 1:45. I see you’re a lot braver (and talented) than me in the sweeper. I still think a 1:40 is possible in my ND2…well that’s my goal 😅

Hahaha you look so relaxed, almost bored, in a slower MX-5. I love it. Is your digital dash display just running off a bluetooth OBDII scanner or something?

That thing points and rotates extremely precisely, at least judging from a chair. You're not putting in a lot of work to 'wrestle' it. That's a solid setup!

It's a fairly mild car, really just the shocks and springs are fairly heavy/firm for the car... but man do they make the car nicer at the track.

@@Bbeavis Smallest things really do make the biggest difference! You're pretty close to Tsukuba (comparatively speaking). You ever consider taknig it out there?

@@thatautomotiveblog I'd love to visit Tsukuba some day, but mailing an MX-5 overseas would be very costly - if anything just visiting as a spectator is the best I can expect I think.

I'm looking to start racing at nugget nationals so I'm not familiar with the regulations at all. I thought cars have to be under 1.5l and 5k total including modifications? =/

Yes, I attended their event as more of a 'visitor'... my car does not comply to their rules, and my car is not part of their competition.

What are you using for data logging?

Bluethooth OBD2 dongle hooks into the headunit, with an app called Torque. Then I use an Android phone for the gps data with an app called RaceChrono.
