Mazda quietly pull together an idea and then they stick with it which is why we now have a rotary engine in the MX30 that generates enough electricity to run the battery that runs the car!

You sound fine to me, best of luck with your recovery. And I love the car, I ordered one a couple of weeks ago - can’t wait to get it (couple of weeks time)

Any news about updates for the 2025 model? So much older tech from the original MX-30 BEV inside...needs a facelift.

So, a 2024 variation on the original 2014 BMW i3 Rex theme then, just with a smaller traction battery? Hmmm.... Btw, central government policy as implemented by local authorities in the planning system dictates that all new developments have narrow roads, narrow junctions etc - all under the principle of prioritising pedestrians and cyclists over cars. Ditto measures to discourage parking. Its the new reality in Ireland.

Wanted to love the MX-30 BEV ... But those doors! If Mazda stuck this powertrain into the almost identically sized CX-30 body then I think that they'd do a lot better with it

It's my favourite car these days. Question: On a long trip, what percentage of the time is the rotary engine running?
@NunoLima1337
@NunoLima1337 16 дней назад
Let's say you start the trip with 90% charge. That should be good for to 40+ miles. If you leave the drive mode in default and are so careful that you accelerate slowly, the ICE will only work to stop the charge from going below 40%. Therefore, you might have next to 0% of ICE use for the first 25 miles, then 100% for the rest of the trip. Add some regenerative braking action and careful selection of EV-only mode when there is start&stop traffic, and the % of ICE use will vary wildly from one driver to the next. :)

Good car, I like mazda tries to develop engenering solutions and create something different. Can they remain financially viable and longtherm stay in business..? The interior space means that this model has a niche segment in a car type that is already narrow these days. Increase sales figures with a 15 cm. extended version maybe?.

You're doing a great job Bob and sound great best of luck with the recovery . I'm glad to see I'm not the only "old man who shouts at clouds" on that road. The swing people need to take coming out of the carpark and petrol station as they cannot see where those bollards are is mad. Only reason they were installed was to stop GAA parkers I would say. As for the car the MX30 EV itself really impressed me on a small spin I had with it. But the small range scared me! This would be perfect, but the price is nuts. What's the efficiency like? Would be concerned with the longevity of the rotary motor

The stubby suicide doors were an RX8 feature , but that was a "2 and a bit" seater rather than the 4 seats here. I love that Mazda took a leap of faith on this powerplant, it just feels that the execution falls short of the plan.

Door design is a strange decision on a 4 door but at least it’s something a bit different, especially if you’re not using the back seats a lot.
