This is a quick video to show how to put a Mazda Skyactiv transmission into initialization mode. This clears all the shift adapts and learned clutch values. Unhooking the negative battery cable will not do this! This needs to be done if you have replaced the transmission or internal components. It is also useful to relearn the transmission if it has picked up "bad" behaviors.
Perform the following steps with the brake pedal depressed:
you need to ugga dugga the brake pedal, not enough pressure and it will NOT work
a. Shift the selector from the P to N position, press the push-button start one time and stop the engine.
b. Shift the selector from the N position to M(-) position. Press the push button start one time while holding the lever in the M(-) position. Wait for 5 seconds or more (ignition switch ON /engine off.
C. Shift the selector from M(-) to N position. Press the push-button start one time to start the engine.
d. Shift the selector lever from N position to M(+) position and wait for 5 seconds or more while holding the lever in the M(+) position.
e. Shift the selector lever from M(+) position to M(-) position and wait for 5 seconds or more while holding the lever in the M(-) position.
f. When idle increase starts, shift the selector lever to the M position (manual position), and verify that M1 is displayed after the shift position indicator light flashes two times. Watch carefully because the light flashes only one time.
