In the recent past, we’ve reported on a $44,000 version of the Mercedes A 220 4MATIC Sedan; and a $38,000 Mazda 3 Sport GT Turbo with AWD.
Both machines represent two solid ways to get around in the inclement winter conditions of Northern Ontario. Both are upscale, both are fun to drive, and both flaunt similarly sporty and athletic characters that makes them refreshingly responsive and engaging to drive, across all weather conditions - including those found on the nastiest winter days in Northern Ontario.
By the way, for the money, both of these machines offer some of the highest-performing lighting systems you'll find for the dollar. But which has the better cabin overall?

I think the flat look of the Benz gauge cluster looks a bit cheap. The actual analogue physical gauges of the Mazda have depth and more of a luxurious appearance.

Between the chinese tablets glued together on the dash, vents with disco party LEDs inside them and the gear selector that's actually hollow plastic, I just can't decide which aspect of the Mercedes is worse. I was a big fan of the german cars from the early 2000s but since I switched to japanese manufacturers I know I'm not going back.

The Benz interior looks more techie, but feels cheap in areas. The Mazda interior just feels more classy, luxurious, & more well put together

Why won’t car consumer place Mazda in the premium sector instead of the mainstream. Most people consider Mazda to be one and choose it over a typical luxury car

$6000 difference is for the badge for all intents and purposes for most luxury minded car buyers. It’s all about the badge and there’s no rationale behind the purchase of the A220 over the Mazda 3 GT.

I prefer the elegant and simple approach of Mazda. The Benz looks cluttered and almost over done. I've driven both (turbo Mazda) that's where I was sold. The Mazda felt more like a driver's car to me.

Mercedes is fantastic but sadly it has a contender that offers a better price and better material feel. The Mercedes hands down beats Mazda in tech. But Mazda beats the Merc because of its price and realibility.

I like the Mazda 3 infotainment. Couple buttons, done. The Mercedes has doubles of every button so there’s lots of options. It’s to much information initially, I can imagine getting use to it but I’m a fan of simplicity. Zoom Zoom

That Mercedes on the inside, at night, looks like a lit up pin mall machine. Super tacky IMHO. The Mazda is super sporty and classy. Mazda did that interior just right. Also, the front end of that Mazda has a nice sleek and aggressive look. Thanks for posting! ✌🏻👍🏻✌🏻

Yeah it‘s just a gimmick BUT it‘s gamification and fun. I drove both cars recently and I‘d never thought that the possibility to change interieur lights could be a thing. But it is.

I remember a girl saying to me that the new Mazda 3 is ugly. Got the latest Mazda with sports kit. Instantly wowed her. And she drives a merc.

Mazda 3 gt sport are very comfortable, fun to drive and cheaper to maintain. The mercedes A class are overrated, the seats are not comfortable and the reverse camera are very poor compare to Mazda 3.
