I'm so confused. I removed the other drives I had plugged in, just in case, I setup a partition, BCD shows on it, it's active - but now I have zero other drives except Disk 0 and I'm still getting the error. It should, by all seeming rights, be working. 2021-10-14 02:18:49, Info MBR2GPT was explicitly asked to run in full OS mode. 2021-10-14 02:18:49, Info MBR2GPT: Attempting to validate disk 0 2021-10-14 02:18:49, Info MBR2GPT: Retrieving layout of disk 2021-10-14 02:18:49, Info MBR2GPT: Initial partition information 2021-10-14 02:18:49, Info =========================================================== 2021-10-14 02:18:49, Info Partition layout for disk: 0 2021-10-14 02:18:49, Info Partition style : MBR 2021-10-14 02:18:49, Info MBR signature: 3120339896 2021-10-14 02:18:49, Info Number of partitions : 2 2021-10-14 02:18:49, Info ===================PARTITION=============================== 2021-10-14 02:18:49, Info Number: 1 2021-10-14 02:18:49, Info Type: 7 2021-10-14 02:18:49, Info Boot: No 2021-10-14 02:18:49, Info Recognized: Yes 2021-10-14 02:18:49, Info Style: 0 2021-10-14 02:18:49, Info Offset: 1048576 2021-10-14 02:18:49, Info Length: 999128301568 2021-10-14 02:18:49, Info Volume: \\?\Volume{#}\ 2021-10-14 02:18:49, Info Drive: C:\ 2021-10-14 02:18:49, Info NT Path: \Device\HardDisk0\Partition1 2021-10-14 02:18:49, Info ===================PARTITION=============================== 2021-10-14 02:18:49, Info Number: 2 2021-10-14 02:18:49, Info Type: 7 2021-10-14 02:18:49, Info Boot: No 2021-10-14 02:18:49, Info Recognized: Yes 2021-10-14 02:18:49, Info Style: 0 2021-10-14 02:18:49, Info Offset: 999129350144 2021-10-14 02:18:49, Info Length: 1072693248 2021-10-14 02:18:49, Info Volume: \\?\Volume{#}\ 2021-10-14 02:18:49, Info Drive: None 2021-10-14 02:18:49, Info NT Path: \Device\HardDisk0\Partition2 2021-10-14 02:18:49, Info =========================================================== 2021-10-14 02:18:49, Info ESP partition size will be 104857600 2021-10-14 02:18:49, Info MBR2GPT: Validating layout, disk sector size is: 512 bytes 2021-10-14 02:18:49, Error ValidateLayout: Wrong boot partition count, expected 1 but found 0. 2021-10-14 02:18:49, Error Disk layout validation failed for disk 0
Thanks for the simple explanations. Thousands of other articles, none have this detail. I'm in a situation like your first scenario. Question (I'm hoping you can help with): Could I shrink the existing partition on the data disk, create a boot partition on it, convert and then revert my boot partition back? Without a restart, preferably?
AMAZING i was loosing my mind going through so many videos and realised you had the answer for me within the first few seconds of the video, i was starting to be convinced i would not be able to convert my disk, thanks bro
What happend for the 100mb efi and 50mb? Can update windows 11 for those 2 partition or if I update my os to win11 automatically direct to drive C all my files? Thanks and respect for beginners.. 🥺
Hi, I was shrinking my C volume and halfway I had power outage so my laptop went off. When power came back ON I started my computer, everything seemed normal and my C drive showed same memory space available as it had before I tried shrinking it the first time but when I tried to continue shrinking my C volume I got this error "There is not enough space available to complete this operation." I have 416GB available and I want to shrink out 120GB
Thank you! I do have one question. After I have made the system partition file and inactivated the older one, will this affect booting into Windows? Do I need to change anything in the BIOS for it to successfully boot after the restart or will it boot into Windows like normal?
Hi, I only have 1 HDD in my pc and this what happens when i tried to shrink it, i dont know if it's safe to proceed "The operation you selected will convert the selected basic disk..."
Dear please help..when we right click on desktop and go into new, there's no excel shortcut there just like new folder, text, word etc... How to fix this.. I tried so many videos to edit regedit but nothing worked...will resetting the registry resolve the issue and how to reset this??
I've been looking for this for 2 days! Thank you so much my issue was the boot and system were on two different drives. This worked great. No more errors!
Great video, couldn't thank you enough! One small thing for the second method: In my case, I also needed to set the newly created partition E as active, which was as simple as right-clicking it and then selecting "Mark Partition as Active"
thank a ton for the fix ! one question, i now have a system reserved partition that has appeared, is it safe to remove? it's not empty but i can't see anything inside, it also belongs to the disk without the OS installation (disk 0)
i'm converting my system disk with a third party application from mbr to gpt, it's said that the operation 100% successful, then I changed the bios to uefi mode. but when I reboot the laptop, it won't start the windows. please help me what to do
Hi I did all your instructions and everything worked perfectly. Now I have some questions, how do you delete de boot partition we created to run mbr2gpt? do we have to clear it first? and secondly, do we have to reactivate the partition using diskpart? what would be the command for it? thanks!
