I still have the Album on cassette. Not sure if Sultry Funk went to number one, but it should have. I'm still trying to sing VMF's first flow 😂without getting tongue-tied 😂
yes true facts wilkins canario what you say. mc hammer is pioneer hip hop and legend . mc hammer make music since 1987. the best mc hammer songs are - u can't touch this 1990, keep on 1995, turn this mutha out 1988, dont stop 1994, lets get it started 1987, sultry funk 1995 . best mc hammer album is inside out 1995
Hammer is that dude, a lot of people tried to clown him for dancing, but he brought so much to the game it’s crazy that he don’t get his props , his music is timeless, and he wanted everybody to win.
In hindsight, this shit is actually dope. Wrote Hammer off as a "sellout" back then, and thought tracks like this and the Funky Head Hunter songs were beyond corny. Now listening with fresh ears, this slaps. Plus I just miss g-funk and tracks that sounded like this.
@@gaylordfocker7990 chill out. VSOP is a classic. This song by Hammer jams also. Stop hating on Hammer. Above The Law,Hammer&many others all played a part in rap/hip hop.
Stanley Burrell has always been an amazing preacher and an amazing rapper, Definitely underrated, probably because he wouldn't wear a dress or kiss another man on stage is why BET won't give this man his props.
Yes! I agree with all y'all who are saying MC is a badass. Remember, Disco was awesome in the late '70s, I remember I was a kid then, then it faded out people want to tease it, shoot, it's back. Anyhow, back to Burrell aka MC... He was pumping this stuff out before 1984, the year I was with him for a couple months. He had been doing, working on his dancing in clubs, anywhere he could get noticed. He was already honing his skills by the time I was with him, so we might as well call it as early as 83, probably 82. I'm 61 now, and he's probably 62. Go check out his social stuff, he looks awesome! I don't know how anybody can put any of his tracks on, especially this one, and just not groove to it!
If someone knows the name of the guy starting at 2:38 and again on 2:55 and finally the masterpiece of the end on 3:26 ... pls let me know, he reminds me of Mr. X with his soulful voice on g-funk beats... thanks in advance and much luv from Germany! That's the Sultry Funk 💣💥🥃🌃🎲🎭🎱
I've always found this chapter in Hammer's music career interesting. I'm purely speculating here, but he likely saw how easy it would be for the label to throw him into the mainstream Pop category after the success of "Please Hammer, Don't Hurt 'Em" & went deeper in his bag. That 3rd album blew up at a time when the whole "sell out" stigma was easily attached & Hammer, not trying to be pegged as a novelty Pop act, was competing with the edgier shift toward gangsta rap music & artists That said, I still find Pumps and a Bump HILARIOUS 😂 (he clearly went overboard), but this cut found a nice balance between a more mature sound while maintaining what we initially loved about him: that energy to entertain & that choreography! Go, Hammer! 🕺🏿2 Smooth!
@N I never said it was a bad song, lol, but you're absolutely right. The video totally overshadowed the music. I remember when it premiered on BET 👴🏿...didn't they make two versions tho?
Yeah it’s from the 90s album dropped after his funky headhunter album but no one cared about this album and I don’t think it sold well this is where he turned gospel but still made dance songs but it was too late and this song didn’t revive his career the album is ok
That’s what’s up. Rappers got to acknowledge. He changed the game in Hiphop. They called him a sell out. Not true. He puts on show & is real trying to help his people. Stay alive, Bro.✊🏾
The Hammer was underrated ...... Yes to Hell with the Hateraders!!!!! Like Hammer ? I'm Still Standing ....... Hammer With That' Brilliance & Sultry Funk !!!!!! Someone Said Lifetime Grammy Achievement Award ????? He Well Deserves It .... ✌🏿❤️
Hammer still looks very youthful, with his rhythmic flamboyant moves. He's probably old enough to be the other performers father, who stands out as he stylishly incorporates his own impressive flavor. Not everyone is as fortunate!
As someone who was in the last few years of my clubbing days when Hammer exploded onto the scene with Turn This Mutha Out, I liked the energy he brought. But other MCs hated him: EC MCs because he was from the West Coast; WC and EC MCs because of the theatrics. But he put on a hellava show.
