👍Excellent video! 👍One of the best ones so far on the Tech side. One of the tips Wayngo taught me, in the bush in my younger years, was to take clean business card, not glossy and wipe the point clean after filing and or use electrical contact cleaner on them to make sure all the dust is out of the contacts from filing. Air works when your in the shop👍

I actually enjoy points I learned about Tdc and rota bugs on a 62 Chevy 283 trouble is now thay don't make good replacement points anymore guess it's a lost art try to keep your old ones working as long as you can half burn ones last longer than brand new ones now ,keep the videos coming good stuff

Finally a guide that gives us an idea on what the hell is going on with points ignition coil!! Thx! Does this apply to other saws as well? im not talking about the space between contacts but where to set the piston in order to start the adjustments.

Thank you very much! That is super helpful! Is that gap the same for most models? Or would each saw be different. Growing up, the gap was always the thickness of a cigarette package! LOL! Is that even close? Love the videos too Mr Bell! Have a great day

On my husky 180s I could turn the points plate, it has slotted mounting holes. I guess that is for advancing or retarding the timing.

Any tips on fixing a sheared flywheel key? I have a 1971 10-10A that sheared the key and enlarged the keyway slightly on the crankshaft. Any way to fix that or is the crankshaft toast? I tried using a good key from another 10-10 I have and it's sits in the slot pretty loose..
@bellhoppersaws
@bellhoppersaws 4 года назад
If you get it in and torque it it will probally stay but i would probally swap out the crank if it was me buddy

I just finished the setting of the points but now I have a air leak .. I hope I did t damage the seals any putting them in & I used permatex Motoseal on the case. Where the biggest chance for a air leak ? I have a NOS Intake but didnt add any sealant to it.. do you pressure ,vac test to find your air leaks ?

@jimknowlton342
@jimknowlton342 8 месяцев назад
Boy I tried this, I had weak spark. Put in a new plug, still weak spark. Opened it up and found the points to be very dirty. I did not adjust the points, I did open them up and clean them with a cheap nail file from the wife's stockpile. Now no spark. Very sad! I don't know what I did wrong but the thing is deader than a door nail.
@jimknowlton342
@jimknowlton342 8 месяцев назад
I got this thing running, I needed to use 220 grit sand paper, wash the points off with some 91% alcohol, set the gap which was way too large, so large it wouldn't close properly, then reassemble to 0.015" points gap and set the armature gap to 0.006". Vroom vroom.
