Star Trek the Motion Picture was the tie in to the Happy Meal. I remember because my sister got one, and I wanted one because of Star Trek, but I didn't want to seem like a little kid so I didn't get one, so I stole the box later on.
I can remember getting my first Happy Meal at McDonalds when they first came out. It seems like yesterday but its been many many years ago. Lol I was the first one of my friends to get one and I thought I was really cool. 😂😂 Seeing this ad brings back so many wonderful memories of my childhood.💕
I was in McDonald's recently for a light meal, and the order taker convinced me to buy a Happy Meal, because all of what I ordered was in it, but it was cheaper. I said OK, although I was kind of embarrassed eating a Happy Meal. I forgot what I did with my toy. :(
+JEH78 It's how products aimed for children (and cartoons) have to portrait it. The child can never be shown in doubt, questioning or double-taking in a shot. The child knows it all, the parents are stupid, out of fashion, silly yet content. They had to stress out the mystery part of the prize and give it more value, but they could not have the children asking the question.
@@JavierSanchez-dq8ie Thanks but it's just one of the tricks marketing have, if you work in the business you'll know what to look for. There are also some nuances on how female character are portrait in advertisement. It's quite interesting.
I'm an 80's kid & I yearn for those listless days when my biggest worry was whether I'd get the McDonaldland or the choc. chip cookies. Those days are LONG gone!
The "Happy Meal" concept was originally test-run in metro Phoenix (and a few other cities) a year earlier, in 1978. I remember that the original logo was the words "HAPPY MeAL" (with the "e" beinng lowercase); when the name was displayed on screen at the end, the "e" would start laughing.
I remember buying my first happy meal when I was 6. But that's when it was back in either 1998 or 1999. I was so very happy when I saw a happy meal ad from McDonalds. I thought that's when the happy meal came out. But after watching I learned that It actually came out i the late 70s. Boy I was very wrong.
I always loved the Happy Meals! As a kid in the 1980s I collected a score of toys, including the transforming McDonalds meals, the Berenstein Bears, Bambi. I even remember calling local McDonalds to track down one that still had a Sister Berenstein Bear because I had the other three and the others ran out of Sister (I got it!). Plus I worked at McDonalds in the late 90s when they had Babe Pig in the City dolls (the summer of the Arch Deluxe). Good memories. :)
I worked at McD's in the late-90's as well. Back then they were doing the "made to order" crap instead of the heat tray they had just a few years prior, so everyone had to wait to make an order, and then got screamed at if it wasn't made right, because the idiots up front didn't punch it in right. I still have my grease burn scars from when some nuggets rolled into the fryer, and the manager was like- put some ice on it, and get back to work! I don't miss those days at all, let me tell you!!
lava bite maybe they want to stick with healthy options in their happy meals. I stopped having them in 2013 but still liked the toys inside of them though.
I remember when getting a Happy Meal on Friday night made my whole weekend. I used to keep the box and watch Saturday morning cartoons with it.Then we'd get married with the ceremony officiated by the Hamburglar, and then we'd make mad passionate love by the fire. Oh the memories. Don't judge me.
Christopher Sobieniak Yes, apple slices seem to be healthier choices. Unfortunately, obesity rates here in America are ridiculously higher than they used to be then. My definition of obesity is when people let unhealthy food take control of their rights. I don't judge people by what they weigh, but it isn't okay for people to let unhealthy food take over their lives.
When I was a little kid my grandfather was smart; he bought me the cheeseburger, the fries, and the Coke instead of the Happy Meal and then I never nagged him about eating at crappy McDonalds again and we could eat good food when I'd go spend the weekend at my grandparents.
boy do i remember this commercial, I was 5 yrs old in 1979, us kids would eat the greasy fries, burger & cookie & shake & we'd never get fat from it, we moved around & worked it off. Today they give the poor kids apples with a happy meal.....boring.
Back in the day! When You could buy one of these complete for about $1.40 It was more for your Money's worth! I miss those Ronald McDonaldland Cookies so very much! Sad! That they Discontinued them!
That's not right, because in St Louis we had them back around 1977, because I remember being around 3 and getting them. So, we either had them test marketed here, or they were around before 1979, but either way, they were around before 1979.
now I don't remember when the happy meals first came out since that was before my time but I remember my Aunt saying she had a happy meal once when she was a kid but that was only once so yeah
40 years celebrating the Happy Meal, from USA to Puerto Rico to Worldwide. It's good to find the roster of the Happy Meal during this 40th Anniversary. Celebrando los 40 años de la Cajita Feliz desde Estados Unidos, Puerto Rico y a nivel mundial. Estaria bueno buscar toda la informacion acerca de la Cajita Feliz durante este Aniversario 40.
the happy meal in 1979. i remember getting the happy meal in 1978.my aunt would pick me and my brother up after school on Friday to spend the weekend at her house and the first place we would go to was McDonald's and she would buy us happy meals.me and my brother thought we we're royalty .cause my mother would never buy them for us
I didn't see the commercial of the happy meal in 1979 because I was not born in 1979 i was only born on August 8 2005 and now I have a peter rabbit movie happy meal and did know that happy meal is now 38 years old . The happy meal is turning 39 years old in June of 2018
I remember getting one of these first happy meals. But I remember getting a prize of a monkey shaped eraser, or something like that. I also remember them offering a trial size of toothpaste in later meals.
Willy Wonka: Try some more. The strawberries taste like strawberries, and the snozzberries taste like snozzberries. Veruca Salt: Snozzberries? Who ever heard of a snozzberry? Willy Wonka: [grabbing Veruca's mouth and pinching it a bit to hold it open] *We* are the music makers... and *we* are the dreamers of dreams. 😌
From this success of McDonald's extendend the Happy Meal part of the kids menu of McDonald's from 1979 to right now. So what toys McDonald's created from 1979 to 2018? The next year celebrates the 30th Anniversary
Unless you live in Northern California where they are banned, but that's McDonald's own fault for not having McBalls to say "No, you can't tell us what to do!"
there was nothing better then happy meal when I was kid or just McDonald for that matter...but now that im an adult who buy some Mickie Dee's at my leisure it's lost it's novelty...but im not tellin you guys something you dont already know...
