Hello Fishtank, yes - McIntosh has processes that nobody else does. Watching the black glass faceplates being made is so cool. I first saw that in 1981, and the memory is still with me.
Hi Mr. , not actually added before the transformer is placed. The hot tar is poured into the housing in a liquid state, and seeps underneath the transformer, as well as all around it. Then it cools to seal the connections and it slightly contracts vs its heated state.
