How does the MC2300 compare to todays McIntosh amps. Specifically, Power, clean reproduced Sound. Are todays MAC's better? the MC2300 with those 4 humongous cap's appear superior. I like the super appearance of the MC2300. But if I'll get more Bang for my Buck with a Modern MAC amp that's what I'll purchase. ??

Mc2300 is all pure solid state components, and if any components are damaged it is very easy to find on the market. and if you have buck better look for the latest from mcintosh. in terms of quality is almost the same, because it has a lower total harmonic distortion.

I've used the MC2300 for years, for heavy use almost always at its rated power. It's a solid machine. However it has its own sound, for example it seems to me "slower" than modern amps. The bass is also very round. "slower" in the sense that songs appear to have a lower bpm or tempo. However, these are machines that need a restoration, you need to at least change the electrolytic capacitors and the thermal paste and check the state of wear of the power resistors.

@@RickB3n Ok. I got the mssge. Based on the cmmnts, I'm gonna purchase a New model McIntosh amp. I don't want to go thru Restore process. Save myself time.
