McKinley Presidential Library and Museum + William McKinley Tomb 

You are one of the first YT vloggers who avidly researched the tomb and the design it was based on. For just a hint more, there used to be a gazebo behind the monument towards the road that ADA visitors and maintenance can take instead of the stairs. That gazebo was the pommel of the sword. The water formed the blade for the sword. The entire configuration was the Matyr configuration for the masonic imagery due to Wm. being a 32 level mason. He founded the local lodge which is also in his name, and his sister who was a school teacher was honored by the high school just two down from the lodge (McKinley High School) though not many realize it wasn't him. Many of us in Canton are very proud of the monument and we take picnics there and the kids slide down the sides though it can be rough (know from experience). I myself would prefer Canton be visited for our many locations around Stark County (including the Troll Hole in Alliance which is my favorite tourist destination because of how wacky and fun it is). Instead we get the da**ed Pro Football Hall of Fame visitors who are football nuts and don't realize how rich we are with history. I mean we even have Frankenstein's grave just snuggled in the cemetery beside the monument in Westlawn! (I could go down a deep dark ranting hole about the HOF so I'll hold back on that) I love going to the museum and seeing the exhibits when they swap them out, but the Timken ball bearing tea cup is my favorite thing in the museum as is the Street of Shops and the zone in the basement you didn't get a chance to portray based on physics experiments for kids. There's even a planetarium. During Christmas time the entire museum decorates and it's gorgeous. Also side comment--the McKinley's DO work and did not long after your visit if I go by the 50's kitchen you did get a chance to share; their downtime must have been short and you just got a bad time for them. Ida is creepy though when she talks. All in all, thank you for coming to Canton and sharing the video about our favorite son. He might not have been born here, but he lived here, practiced law here, and we claim him as our own. Additional facts for commenters that read this far. Ida's parents were the owners of our still published newspaper the (Canton) Repository and her First Lady's museum is downtown just a block from it (or so). That tiara was purchased by fund raisers because we Cantonians couldn't bear to have it not be in the museum where it belonged. Each 4th of July, people gather with lawn chairs and coolers and wait for dark for the epic fireworks display behind the monument complete with cannons from the Civil War. We'd love for anyone to come and VIST CANTON (Google it) and see everything we have to offer. --Just a general citizen and mom who was born and raised here in Canton/Stark County. :) Your video is awesome.

I grew up going here a lot as a kid in the late 2000s/early 2010s (mostly for the lower floor with the dinosaur and science stuff but I still loved the history stuff upstairs) but some stuff you mentioned I had never even noticed! The animatronics still work, but I guess they were just turned off while you were there! They usually do a little audio show talking to you like a guest and telling you about their luves and what life was like then!

If you haven't gone already, President Garfield is buried around 45 minutes north of here in Cleveland! There isn't much in the monument, but it's still a great place to go if you want to visit presidential monuments.

I only realized now that McKinley wasn't just from the region of Ohio that my family made their first American home in, but he was also likely the president at the time they arrived there or not long before/after they did. Imagine moving somewhere and learning that the president was from your new town? Likely how it was for us.

Those wax figure bots actually work now…I went there for my 21st birthday about 5 months back with my mom and sister and we pressed the button for them to talk and they worked just fine.

This doesn’t look like a traditional presidential library or museum. Usually they’re about the president’s life & political legacy. But this one feels more like a time warp than anything.

I started out to go to each presidents resting places Started on a whim -I went to the homes that were still standing and the grave sites - all this before you tube. Also went to the sites where they died some are still there and some are gone or replaced by a marker I got about a little over have done then I got cancer and had to stop
