I don't at all mean to be rude with this question, but - how do you actually bring yourself to drive the car amidst the nearly-constant string of orgasms it must cause?
im here wondering about force feedback, project cars with g27 and 100% is hard for my hands, is it really true what they say that like at 200-300kph the steering is very hard, like 200% in game?`like going into corner at 3 or 4th gear @ 130kps the steering wheel wants to turn hard back? if yes racing is very hard.
DNA Zef1yyy varies from car to car. Ferraris are usually quite light on the steering. the P1 GTR still light, but not as light as the P1 GTR, the Mclaren 650GT3 is less light, but no in general it is not the steering that makes you tired. it is the heat in the car, the intensity of your brain activity ;0, and braking effort on cars with no servos or very little (F1, GT3). The aircon in the P1 GTR and FXX K is so good that you hardly break a sweat
I just checked: at the apex of T6 at 2:00 the dash shows 121 km/h, which is 75 mph. I've personally done 76.8 mph in a 205 hp Subaru BRZ with no aero and 260 TW tires with budget coilovers. You can see the onboard on my channel, and I've just separately checked my GPS data log. I think the P1 can do a lot faster than that in T6 :)
well that is not a very fair comparison but, GTR and FXX-K would be first, followed by the 599xx as they have slicks, Vulcan possibly 4th, and then the road cars, at Laguna my guess is hte 918 wins of the Koenigsegg. but any GT3 car would beat the whole lot.
Not sure tbh. we havent seen an egg actually being able to turn yet.... a lowly 675LT is faster around Spa than the one:1... and that is a track that should really play into the hands of the egg. They make very cool cars, but havent proven anything besides being able to go fast in a straight line yet.
I love just one thing of this video ... the driver, an great driver that try to taken under full controll the one tons and half of this beast. The car is just a car, learn to drive in this way while required to dedicate the life at the races .
1:27 lap. amazing the difference between a hypercar and a real race car. GTD class, which is similar to GT3 spec, in IMSA just qualified here in 1:25. they have about half the horsepower of the P1. even GTLM did it in 1:21. still only about 650hp.
yeah, a GT3 car is always quicker than the FXXK/P1GTR type of car. in my defense at Laguna, first day ever driving the track and it was pretty slippery. with some testing and a dry track it would be closer.
I would suggest a track like COTA in Austin,Texas where all looks much safer with this kind of power. Seeing most driving aren't pros would be a better situation. Leguna just doesn't leave much room for mistakes.
Jordan Imrie first time I've driven there, figured a double apex would get me a quicker exit and with a bigger pair later braking into the corner....;)
My bad they are slicks, I thought so. Good lap. The ACR Viper holds the lap record set 10 months ago. It was a 1.28. something. But that was with production tires, basically straight out of the showroom. This is a viper track, not a lot of long straights. Randy coming off the corkscreww hit 2.0 g's.
Just a question, do you own all these cars? Because the P1 GTR has your last name on it :D If you do, well done mate, you are living the dream and actually use the money you earn to do something fun, unlike most people with a lot of money. And thanks for sharing the experience with us :)
Alexander West Wow... You should get an F1 GTR ;) A question only an owner can anwser, do you prefer a P1 GTR over the FXXK? You know, because I am interested in buying one, as a HotWheels.
Silly question, but why is this as slow as it is? I mean, awesome AWESOME car and all, but I would have thought at this cost and with this much HP, (and stripped) that lap times would be around the 1:10 mark, (about the time of a ARX-01b). What is holding it back?
Davey Johnson absolutely nothing is holding that car back it's just he's got turns he's had to make so he keeps his speed lower..... you put this car in a straight away and you're hit the KERS system and the DRS system at the same time you'll be going well over 200mph
Is the speedo in KPH or MPH? I feel like KPH, but if I'm wrong let me know. I can't remember the last time I saw a car accelerate that quickly in the 200s, hence me asking
Out of curiosity I saw you getting on the gray button on the top left of the steering wheel in many of the straight aways. What is that guy activating/used for?
+Ernie Vaughan DRS button (Drag Reduction System). straightens the wing for less downforce/faster top speed. ONLY to be used on straights ;). every little bit helps, makes more of a difference on a track like Barcelona where the top speed is much higher. at Laguna you dont really go much faster than 150mph, vs 190+ at tracks like Barcelona
you mean shifting down to 2nd or shifting up to 4th just after the corkscrew? 2nd on entering and it is was slippery after rain and i had never driven the track before this. short shift up to fourth out of it as it is easier to get on the power through a corner in a higher gear
By 'superbikes' I meant middleweights, like 600cc or sometimes sub 400cc pocket rockets (KTM rc390 is just wicked). I don't think my pair is big enough to ride a 1000cc RR around it..
totally agree, my only excuses would be that that it had been raining, i've never driven the track before, it is a blind crest and car went very light over that crest. just didnt want to have an accident misjudging the track. but you are completely right
+Julian Church waste gates for the turbos, in order to control boost pressure it has to release the exhaust gases, especially when you stop accelerating...
+Alexander West Nice. Great car. Awesome lap anyway mate. looked pretty bang on at times! If you do more track days, make sure you bring a cam and upload it. you made my day :)
The Tesla Model S Plaid 3 Motor is only 4 seconds behind this, and Tesla think they can improve it by 5 seconds. That remains to be seen, but amazing for a 5 seater 4 door sedan with 500 miles of range. The future is electric.
and pigs fly. if you believe that that car was a car you can buy and legally drive on the road then you have to wonder why it will take another 14 months (at least) for any deliveries. oh and that was my first day ever driving that track after it had rained. there was several seconds to be had
15 years (virtual) driving experience; your second lap was better, you took though T3, T5 &T10 a later apex and gained one to two tenths on the following straight. You were up 2 tenths from your first timed lap, but lost it at the last hairpin by braking too early. I would've taken T1 more from the outside, but I fully realise driving such a high value car on one of the most challenging tracks is hard enough. Jealous, cheers
+addictedtopiano As a fellow simracer, I agree with the evaluation, but if I were driving that car (and I venture to say the both of us), even allowing for plenty of adjustment from virtual to RL, I'd probably look a lot worse and I'd be a lot more conservative too. Laguna looks like needs a bit of repairs here and there, I was there a couple (maybe 3) years ago,m and it looked a lot better. I'd be terrified to put a wheel on a curb and have this expensive piece of real estate get unsettled and get anywhere near any barrier. Heck, anywhere near the dirt would make me want to shoot myself. Can you imagine the repair bill for just bending anything on this car? Ans I don't care how much money you have. What's his name, the actor that has been racing and just lately "retired", raced a LMP2 car at laguna and he cracked some of the body work, it cost him $40k. Just for the part.
+Mario Strada I think there is a second to shave off with some more practice, probably lost 3/10 in corner 3 because of the Water and so on. it was wet off track, and as you pointed out, the track is in horrible shape so you really don't want to go off track. also no amount of sim training can prepare you for the elevation changes and camber of this circuit. I absolutely loved it after getting used to it, but it took a while. with only one day of testing you aren't going to hit the limit of what you or the car can do on a track like this
IT WAS DONE WITH SLICKS, DID YOU NOT READ HIS POST?? RECORDS ARE WITH STOCK TIRES, Showroom stock. HIS car is not street legal. The ACR Viper has the lap record.
you have a habbit of staying too close to the inside entering the hairpin bends. i noticed that at Spa as well. kudos to you for going out there and going for it tho!
Not sure which corners you are talking about, but on tight corners, inside is shorter and less distance is a lot of time quicker. and in a number of corners you take a double apex approach. so inside in the beginning, let it drift out a little bit and then hit the second apex on the way out.
Alexander West of course the double apex approach is easier. But even that you can still take a wider line and more entry speed. Having aero makes that even more important. Certainly taking the corner tighter you don't lose too much time but if you took the corner wider you can also brake later. Randy Pobst usually trail-brakes into that hairpin and reaches min speed much later after the first apex, turns and accelerates before the 2nd apex. The time he spends at minimum corner speed is at an absolute minimum.
If you go to the "MRLS Best lap times" His name is all over the board in all sorts of different cars, having driven the track so many times kind of made him part of the track's "spirit".. BTW awesome driving Mr West! Big fan of your 2008 F1 videos!
at 2:47, obvs u are the pro, but i cant get around my head why you arent you not taking a larger angle into corner instead of coming in hot into the first turn
fair point. first time driving the track, it had been raining. at that speed the car goes pretty light over the crest and i just prefered to keep it on the track rather than misjudging the turn, would be my excuses/explanations. still think it is a corner you probably want to V and take it as a double apex corner
No. This was a horrible day just after it had rained a lot so on a nice warm sunny day, there might be 1-2 seconds for me. Then add 1-2 seconds for a pro
