Finally someone decided to use an appropriate camera, put it in the appropriate position and remove all the useless garbage from the screen while performing a run for the Nordschleife record. Thank you very much for this brilliant video.

This car is so fast, it STILL holds this record at the Ring almost 5 YEARS later. Even with the error at 1:48 and having to lift at 6:32 to dodge a random car, Kenny and the P1 LM still set an insane lap time. Brilliant work Kenny, Lanzante, and McLaren!

this is the most stable and undramatic flying laps ive ever seen. the driver seemed very confident in the car which is probably why the lap time is so fast

I love this camera angle. You can appreciate a lot better the driver's skills and speed which usually isn't near to what is being physically inside. It helps a lot

OK, This is coming from a guy who finished high school in 1965. I bought my first car in 1967 while in the USAF, a lightly used 1965 Pontiac GTO tri-power. After Vietnam a Cuda. I've driven other stuff. 1970 Boss 302 and it's brother a 1970 Cougar 428. Even a 1970 Dodge with the police package 440, which I topped out at 127 mph. So by now you realize I'm one of those 60's guys who is very adolescent about cars. This course in Germany has become the industry standard, a proving ground for anything you want to earn bragging rights with. I've watched the Corvettes and the Kawasakis crank some good laps with on-board cameras. This P1 guy immediately threw me back to the first day I pinned myself to the seat in my GTO and cornered a Boss 302 so well I could turn understeer into instant oversteer with one punch of the throttle. This is the best hot rod in the world right now, 200+, effortless breaking, not a squeal from the tires in any corner, and a shocking lap time. In my well-seasoned age of 70 I have a soft spot in my heart for the Aston Martins. I love them. But this is the beast that has earned #one and I don't see it getting knocked off the mountain any time soon.

I've never seen a video that shows so well how the track goes up and down the hills ... and the bumpy-ness of the road.

Holy hell! That was insane. There were a few little wobbles around 3.30ish when he was doing 160 - 180mph!! I've had that at about 70 and it's terrifying at that speed. I just can't imagine having to hold a car together at those kinds of speeds. Although the only other option is a fiery death so I understand his motivation. Absolutely incredible driving.

Worth noting they are using the 2 different start/finish lines, while cars like the Zonda R used a single start/finish line. That's worth about 3 seconds, but he also lost a good 2 seconds at 1:49.

I don't understand why people compare this to the EP9 when both cars finish at the start line, but the mclaren starts its clock ticking like 200m further down the track than the Nio. How is it a fair comparison when the mclaren gets a 3 second head start?

OK, at risk of some abuse, Mr Bellof's 6 minutes, 11.13 seconds set back in 1983 (Yes, that's 34 years ago) is a tad faster. And before somebody rabbits on about production cars, I would argue they made a lot more 956's than this P1LM's.

It's funny that to normal people this video is a very skilled driver in an amazing piece of machinery driving on a dangerous track. But to car guys this is literally the shit we think about 24/7. When we get in our cars to go to work, when we day dream, when we hop on RU-vid and see videos like this we experience temporary nirvana. That twin turbo v8, that blow off valve, the occasional hint of turbo spool, and the orgasmic downshifts. All things car guys know, love, and live for.

Lap times don't matter to me, I'd take the P1 over any other car because of it's sheer ferocity and power. Id want my multi-million dollar hyper to be a monster, not easy to drive.

It is not road legal in Germany so it doesnt count actually. The fastest road legal car is the GT2 RS. And this Porsche is allowed to Drive on german roads. And of course it isnt a production car.
