I live in Ireland, we had an economic boom in 2000s and we ended up with so many ugly McMansions and there was so many cases where floors and stuff were poorly did etc. Thank god since the recession, they tend to be more tasteful now.
Wow, that's super interesting! I've always wanted to go to Ireland, so maybe I'll get to look at some of those McMansions one day lol. I think here in the states the same thing kind of happened during the real estate bubble, right before the 2008 crash. Then after the crash, there were tons of abandoned housing developments full of McMansions!
I guess in the fast-food sense these mansions would be like McDonalds starts selling slopy joes and someone gets a "to go bag" full of them and eats in the car in the parking lot and the dog gets into the bag while the person goes in McDonalds to buy more fries and an ice cream.
My parents live in a large red brick house that is tasteful and full gable roof. It’s a large house but not a McMansion. I hope that all McMansions all get demoed out and replaced with tastefully done large houses or better yet divvy up the lots and build 2 to 4 craftsman bungalows or jubilees in each of their places.
I guess the biggest argument there is that the roof makes the house look like a cut, fold and glue project. Just collect your happy meal boxes each having various house prints to make a house for your little happy meal toys.
@@ElyzaHalpern I just watched House Hunters on Saturday Night Live! First time in many years I have really been able to laugh naturally due to depression. That part about the windows caught me off guard. And I just loved the neat little gas stove idea. I don't want to give any spoilers. The part about the cat on the roof had me mystified. That was my favorite house. The towel rack setup in the bathroom is sure to make the whole block envious. 🤣
Mcmansion haters are just jealous they cant afford a house that big. Why are you hating on someone who doesnt want a basic box shape house under 3000sq feet?
Uuuummmmm the DC, MD, VA area you mean? Delaware is not included in the DMV 😂😂😂 but I'll agree that it is the McMansion Capitol and I cant wait to get mine 😂🤣😂🤣😂
I lived in MD most of my life and thought it was Delaware lolol (I went to Delaware a lot when I was young so maybe that’s how I got that impression?) I hope you get your McMansion! While some of these houses don’t look great I’m sure they’re actually super fun to live in
Useful to know the alternate meaning of "DMV" in case I go there. Just like how if I'm in Silicon Valley and someone says "EPA" they're probably not referring to a government agency :)
Lol what does EPA mean in Silicon Valley? Also some people mean "D.C., Maryland, Virginia" when they say DMV! I just say Delaware because I spent a lot of time there growing up!
