Gerald not only sings the vocals, he lives the vocals. I've been a big fan of MCR for quite awhile now, and I never fully understood why. Now, listening to this, I do. He doesn't just sing these songs, he breathes life into the songs. I dont think I've ever noticed any other performer who could do this, and I'm a old guy. So I've listened to the like of Freddy Mercury, Prince, Hall & Oats, Night Ranger, and many others live. And again, I've never noticed this before in a artist. I'm sure there are others out there who could do this....I just cant think of them off hand.
MCR’s last live show before 2019 played Helena at the end. The reunion show in December 2019 ended with Welcome To The Black Parade. They welcomed us back.
THE LAST SONG MCR EVER PLAYED LIVE WAS HELENA. SO THE LAST LIVE WORDS THEY EVER SAID TO US WAS SO LONG AND GOODNIGHT. AND I THOUGHT I WAS CRYING BEFORE.
Originality Is Hard yesss I thought I got over it when I saw my old playlist and clicked on it and I was like "NOOOOO HOW COULD I DO THIS" **cries tears of joy** I actually missed it
Everyone’s talking about the “so long and goodnight,” but nobody’s mentioned “can we pretend to leave and then we’ll meet again” and I felt the need to point that out EDIT: spelling
For the first (roughly) twenty seconds, when it was all quiet and whispery, all I could imagine was Gerard sitting up late at night, remembering all the good times he had in MCR, and singing one of their greatest songs to himself while trying not to cry, and now I'M the one trying not to cry.
@@BooPedro in the music videos actually was since this song was dedicated to his grandma that passed away. He said that she was the reason that he got into singing and was the reason that they are where they are today
This was probably made with a vocal isolation program. They're not 100% perfect, and that's why you might be able to still hear the instrumental. That, or your brain is playing the instrumental in your head because you're a former emo and listened to this song on repeat in 2011
For some reason this feels like something you'd hear in a musical. That's all I could imagine while listening to this; just Gerard alone on a theater stage, singing his heart out.
it’s 5 in the morning and my mom just came in my room to tell me to shut the hell up😗 i’m currently sobbing while screaming every lyric with so much emotion.
This really hit me. I don't know why, but The minute Gerard started singing louder, I sobbed. My friend and I just hung up from a conversation about her depression, and this song was the first thing into my head. I'm glad I listened. I needed this.
Guys....Don't think about that at MCRs last concert the last song they played was Helena which means the last lines ever sung by MCR was "So long and Goodnight"
I love how far he pushes that last high during the final chorus. I wonder how many takes it took to get that beautiful yell. Fucking brilliant singer >.>
Cat Goes Meow The guys name is usually spelled where I come from like Gearld. So yeah that explains that. Comedic Beans I get you were joking it's pretty fucking obvious, but you tried making a joke about something you don't even know what your talking about so it wasn't funny in the end. Even if they were your joke wasn't very funny.
You can’t tell me that Gerard has no talent...have you heard this? Really listened to this? Took this in? It’s absolutely flawless...so keep your bad vibes out of my cornflakes...smh
double tracking meaning???? guitars are almost ALWAYS double tracked to make it sound thicker, the vocals ( at least from this) are single layer, except the harmonies
@@cazza710 It always depends. I meant more with how certain lines in this song are doubled to make it sound fuller, and not the whole song like some records. The technique of layering is well used, and not overdone, which is one of the reasons why I’ve always praised this record production wise.
so I was listening to this on a Playlist and when it came on I fell out my bed. I forgot Gee was so talented, his vocals are so powerful. I know he never thought they'd make it this far but he did and I'm so proud of him. (this is pointless why are you reading this I used to live near them so..)
Encripta Wolf they did, a small amount. that was admitted to, and is very evident if you listen to jetset life (the bridge and stuff) however, gerard’s voice is beautiful nonetheless.
"Helena" Long ago Just like the hearse, you die to get in again We are so far from you Burning on just like a match you strike to incinerate The lives of everyone you know And what's the worst you take (worst you take) From every heart you break (heart you break) And like the blade you stain (blade you stain) Well, I've been holding on tonight What's the worst that I can say? Things are better if I stay So long and goodnight So long not goodnight Came a time When every star fall brought you to tears again We are the very hurt you sold And what's the worst you take (worst you take) From every heart you break (heart you break) And like the blade you stain (blade you stain) Well, I've been holding on tonight What's the worst that I can say? Things are better if I stay So long and goodnight So long not goodnight Well if you carry on this way Things are better if I stay So long and goodnight So long not goodnight Can you hear me? Are you near me? Can we pretend To leave and then We'll meet again When both our cars collide What's the worst that I can say? Things are better if I stay So long and goodnight So long not goodnight Well if you carry on this way Things are better if I stay So long and goodnight So long not goodnight
I love how you can hear all the emotion and passion in his voice. I love how personal this song is to Mikey and Gerard. Gerard was going through such a hard time when this song came about, and just knowing what it really means to him and why he wrote it is heartbreaking. I can’t even imagine losing someone that you love so dearly, and the regret of not being with them during their final moments. I just absolutely love everything about this song. It has to be one of my favorites. The vocals are beautiful, the instrumentation is beautiful, and the lyrics are just beyond beautiful, especially the bridge. I just love this song. And I love MCR.
Emily Simmons I think so... it's just that I don't know *what* to upload, I mean, what artist or music... (I don't have ALL artist and/or musics, though...).
***** I don't think it'll work, I'm affraid... I assume you have the 'normal musics' that anyone could download from the internet, right? If so, those are not the 'musics' I was mentioning...
