It’s true! Somehow they continue to get better with age, like a fine wine. Which is super rare in the industry. Their last tour had me completely shook and I’ve seen them a decent number of times of the years.
Also, as an OG 2001 MCR fan I noticed he only focused on TBP which had a very distinct singing style for Gerard. Each album, because they tell a story, has a different approach to the vocals. Which is why also the first two albums sound more similar. Revenge was a quasi sequel to Bullets.
I can sing this songs, but it is a little bit hard to do like you said, but it sucks that he doesn't get enough of love for his voice. He's my favorite singer and my chemical romance is my favorite band of all time
i get it for the technique how hard some of these are too sing, but if you're well trained too sing like that you can defo do it rlly well ykwim? i would have liked too see songs up there for reasons other than techniques tho! like skylines and turnstiles for the absolute non-existents of breaks while still being able too push his vocals amazingly yk? this almost applies too alot of the songs from that album too honestly. also should we shout out a song like prison for the pronunciation of his words alone? either way it is insane what gerard can do with his voice and that's totally why he is THE person i look up too the most.
That is also technique, it's stamina and sustain which is all controlled through breath control. This is just a singles list, doesn't really highlight Gerard's best feats at all. Black Parade is genuinely a bit of a beast to sing tho, I'll give him that.
can confirm these songs are crazy hard in terms or breath support and sound - I still get sore singing them even as an alto with a strong belt right in this range
I agree his range is great but I feel like the video focuses a little too much on pitch when he has great screams and other techniques which really make him stand out
ive seen mcr live 5 times since 2007 and famous last words is always an incredible and magical experience. its had such a grip on me for so long it inspired my first tattoo haha :-) gerard really is an astounding vocalist and lead, they have such a commanding presence on stage
gerard way is a totally underrated singer! he has such a nice voice, and his screams are amazing as well. this video was released the day before my 14th birthday, which was during the end of my very short lived gerard way/mcr hyperfix, and i was so excited to watch it when it came out. best birthday gift i got lol
As someone who has tried nearly all MCR songs, I made my vocal cords bleed when singing like Gee. So, I just did it in my own way. Thankfully I reach them now.
I have a really wide range so all these songs are pretty well sung for me, I think he should have looked at the very 1st mcr album and said try screaming that much in a healthy way.
I almost guessed all the songs because some of them were hard for me to sing just because of the high notes and my voice just disappeared, but I would also add the jetset life is gonna kill you, desert song, scarecrow, save yourself, I'll hold them back, hang em high, I can list for a long time😅
See this is crazy bc I love Gerard Way but all these qualities you speak of are qualities I share with him. I can go into my head voice while sounding like I’m in my chest voice. And it’s funny bc you named some of my best mcr songs to sing!

I imagine he did it this way to avoid running into usage problems(?), but I reeeeally would have gotten more out of this video with just a biiiit more of the song/note examples. I’m left with the feeling of having lost a sneeze that is lingering haha.
The part in how i disapear when he sing «and i cant hurt you anymore. And i cant hurt you any moooooopoooooorrre» i personly find Harder than this songs
He is very hard for me as well. In this c#5 notes I actually use Scream phaser like Steve Tyler ... Great singer it's very nice to analyse that sometimes he distorces and then he doesn't for example, in teenager becaseu the DRUGS neVER WORK.
