To some of these comments “If you can’t take a little bloody nose, maybe it’s time to go back under your bed and hide” If you’re worried about a little ouch here and there go buy a knife with squishy grips. I’ve worked the MDV/MDV-F on various mediums… the point of impact on my hand is negligible compared to the damage the blade itself is doing with force behind it or light jabs. There’s a logical order of thinking behind the concept of the design. Learn it and work it. Great commentary gentlemen

Mike I am glad you touched on your mindset in fighting. I feel and acted same way in my younger days. My Uncle would teach me with paint stirring stick but he would use a kitchen knife. He could switch from blade to back . of it. He taught ww2 marine's hand to hand combat on the ships going over to the pacific. He instilled in me the mind set you have to take some to give some. Hey Craig its Rich here.

I love the trainer as it allows me to accurately apply techniques in a safe manner. I’m not sparring knife on knife (that’s another form of training) with is trainer. But the MDV trainer allows a safe application of techniques one can work on with a training partner.

I appreciate the video. I’m on board with being willing to endure pain to defend myself/loved ones, but i don’t take that on voluntarily if I don’t have to. I think you mentioned a purpose that the handle horn serves; what is it?

There are a few purposes for the “horn”. I’ll try to cover some of them here. 1. Point of Manipulation - It serves as a manipulation point for various goals. It can be used for body manipulation on an opponent from both grips. If it were rounded, it wouldn’t be useful to me in the grappling range. 1.1 When holding in an ice pick grip with the Rhino Sheath, the horn allows you to quickly spin the MDV around so the hook on the sheath can be used against the opponent to unsheathe the blade. 1.2 Another example is holding it in an ice ick grip with a three or four finger grip, it allows you to spin the cutting edge of the knife to face towards the back of your hand, this allows you a safer pistol draw or allows you to use the same hand to grab something without the cutting edge facing forward. Three finger grip when in your strong hand, and four finger when in your weak…. Depending on the size of your hands. 2. Striking - whether its in a hammer grip or ice pick grip, with or with a sheath on, any strike with that area of the MDV should be focused on the point. Much more damage would be created when all the force is focused into a small point vs a rounded area. 3. Control Tactics - the horn can be used as a point to drive into the body during control techniques whether for pain compliance, which I don’t usually advocate for, or using the MDV in a similar fashion as a kubotan. Theres more but this is getting long. Whether you use the horn for the purposes stated or not, the design has those features built in. My response to the topic was to point out that even though it may hurt your hand, it doesn’t stop you from using this knife in a punch grip. I could have rounded that part for a better feel, but I would have taken away other features that I feel overcome the slight discomfort. In our virtual training course, we cover a lot about the design, mindset, and purpose of the blade along with its features. I wanted to make sure that anyone that really wanted to know had access to the information. It has 16 hours of content for the MDV and a good portion of that will not be uploaded to RU-vid. If you really want to know about the blade consider checking the VTC out. Link: vimeo.com/ondemand/mdvplusone -MDv

Remember folks, don’t spend life in prison for going to the blade in a bar fight.

Decent advice that should be common sense. No one is advocating to use a knife when it’s not necessary.

I would like to know more about how it attaches to the belt. I really want one but I don't want to lose it.. Also do you ship to France? 🙂
@Skallywagtactical
@Skallywagtactical Год назад
Derek, Its designed to be carried in the pocket, if you want to carry it on your belt you will take away the ability to deploy as a less then lethal, part of the design of the knife. We of course want you to make it yours but to carry properly on a belt or other attachment point you would want to have a retention sheath made. We do ship worldwide, its up to you to know what is legal to import. We do have a German Dealer called Knifeaddict that does carry the knife, i am sure shipping from Germany would be the way to go. www.knifeaddict.de/

With the idea of control.. I always think of a mama crocodile She can of course rip apart flesh with her jaws and teeth.. and with those same teeth and jaws, carry her offspring in her mouth so gently. Control
