Hey everyone! Today’s video is on our new experiment. Excited for you all to join us on our next adventure as I share this endeavor in this video in hopes to alleviate some cost and possibly a help with a small income. You made the right choice when you picked wheat bran. Just saw a video by someone who gave both to the worms, one substrate on either side of the box, and tipped the worms into the middle. They all went to the wheat bran. Thanks for your video. I'm started a colony but don't have enough to feed my chickens, so I'm going to set them up,in the same drawer system too.

I've got 500 medium worms, 50 Large (should Pupate Soon) and 250 Beetles coming probably Tuesday! I'm an Ant Keeper, I also have 2 Scorpions & 12" Red-Eared Slider as well as my Dad having Chickens So I wanted a head start with helping him feed his Chickens & my Critters too!

Sounds great! We've now completed one full cycle and are about to be in a mess of mealworms every few weeks. Have 10 trays full of mealworms as I started with 3.

I purchased mine at a Michael's craft store but I've seen them at Walmart, Sam's Club, and Amazon as well

Thanks for sharing! Two quick questions. One, do you have a link to the stacking tray system you have? Two, did you spread the worms across multiple tray as part of a strategy, or were there simply too many for one tray? Thanks again!

Thank you for the questions. amzn.to/3QfO6AN is the affiliate link to the 10-drawers system. Originally, I just separated them thinking they needed space for the amount I have and after a year of managing the mealworms it is a good idea to not put too many in one tray. I like to fill up the beetle trays with a good amount but allowing enough room to have some movement as they will produce a lot of eggs. The mealworms if overcrowded, will go through the wheat bran in no time and if they are very young, you will not be able to strain out the Frass as the mealworms will wiggle right through your smallest strainer. So because you can't strain them until they get a decent size you will just have to replenish the wheat bran on top of the mealworms and then sift them out when they are big enough not to fall through the strainers. So it wise to not overload a tray with too many mealworms. Thanks for stopping by and God Bless. I will do a year update video soon and hopefully talk about some of those items.

I’m unsure but I’ve watched the entire video before asking my question. So are the mealworms & bettles used as just a treat or the primary feed for the ducks & chickens? Thanks for sharing. Chico

currently the mealworms and beetles are just treats that are high protein for the ducks and chickens. If ever, something happens to the food industry and aren't able to purchase feed for the animals, then we have a source of food to supplement their grazing to help keep them healthy. Do the beetles or worms ever leave their home into your home?

Started in March and have 3 beetles total make it into the home. I believe they fell out during sifting or hand picking to transfer but have not caused any issues for us. Thanks for the question and stopping by!
