Little bit of an epic video...apologies in advance. While waiting on lumber, we realized that a mechanical room under the house would be ideal for mechanical things like solar batteries and equipment, furnace and other controls. A small space that can be temperature controlled so our lithium-ion server batteries could still charge when the weather goes cold.

Good video and job really nice work better than most pro,s if you oil the molds it's easier to get block out. If all the rock were gold you could buy whole country. Both of you take care be safe and well.

John, thank you for watching our videos. We value your feedback. Maybe to a pro, it is just a job. For us, we set our own results. Any blame falls on us. The forms were oiled. Maybe the sharp corners and mound design were the problem? That and a reluctance to be too rough with green concrete. One clip I kept picking up a pry bar while my mind said “don’t use a pry bar”. Funny how the mind works. You also enjoy good health.

Great project/building! I started watching your channel way back when you were building your sawmill, a project I still haven't started. In that series of videos I was impressed with the engineering and thought you put into every detail on that project, you have to be a retired engineer...? Now I am mezmerized with ALL your projects and the thought process you go through on each one of them. Like you guys, I do many things that I am not an expert in just to prove to myself that I don't have to be. It feels so good to know that I am not the only person in the world that loves to take on a task in which I have no qualification and still can get a result that rivals what a professional could produce. Thanks for continuing to bring us along!

Hey, thank you for following along! Our viewers are what make the videos happen. Maybe the most important thing I have learned in life is that doing things is simply a matter of creating a solution to a problem. Often an initial solution can be broken down into a simpler one. People have accomplished amazing things by creating a solution to a goal. I am not an engineer, but have life experience and a interest to learn about things that create solutions to my projects. A search across RU-vid on any topic will show that you are not alone in your desire to create. In fact you have achieved the gift of believing in yourself and can achieve anything you set your mind to accomplish. Thank you for your comment and thank you for watching, it really means a lot to us!

You place too much value on formal education. Most engineers can barely change a lightbulb.

@@bobweiram6321 I have worked with engineers. Interestingly enough, they are mostly number crunchers and those numbers don’t always produce desired results. Nonetheless and understanding of some amount of engineering is needed for many projects and a good understanding of material properties is required for successful project success.

@@SpencersMountain Exactly! A lot of engineers I've worked with just turn everything into a math problem with no understanding of the underlying principles. Their answer is usually correct, but the problem is wrong. My son graduated from a top US engineering school in EE with a 3.8GPA. In his four years, they covered lots of math, sciences, and core engineering classes. They weren't required to work on a project. To my shock and horror, I discovered he didn't know how to troubleshoot a basic circuit, nor did he understand the purpose of the most basic discrete components! An engineering buddy of mine remarked that it doesn't matter because the field is extremely specialized and myopic. Most EE's in the US become sales representative or technicians. The product development is usually done by a US engineer who gathers specifications and articulates them to overseas engineers who do the actual design and prototyping. He said the real innovation is done by hobbyists and polymaths such as yourself. America took a real nosedive!

Peekaboo Debby. Did you two leak a preview of your plan for the build yet? I’m curious… 😂🛖 love the utility bunker!

We have progress pictures on Facebook. Maybe that has some people still scratching their head? When you want to add sparky and hot stuff to the underside of your house, concrete seemed a good choice.
