I played this single player campaign on Hard Difficulty, and with enemy indicators (stars) turned off. I'm also playing with Valve Index and Knuckles Controllers.
This is a blind playthrough.

Freaks out when he hears the Garand ping, and then when the npc says "lucky shot" hes like "shut up you" and waves the rifle in his face

Thanks. I wanted to get the most out of the experience, and to me medium looked a bit too easy (less enemies and so on).

I can't get past the resistance any tips i play on hard like you -

Yeah, that fight was weirdly hard compared to most of the other early game. Make sure you have health syringes, and stay behind the house if you can. The machine gun like enemies can kill you easily from the distance, but you might be able to get them with the blast damage from Panzerfaust 60. Make sure your guns are loaded, and remember that you can pick weapons from your enemies for ammo. I did die like close to ten times on this part too.
