The Center for Practical Bioethics celebrated its 40th year of service at The Firehouse in Kansas City, Mo., with a lively discussion of bioethics and the use of artificial intelligence in healthcare. Discussing these topics were:
• Ryan Pferdehirt, D.Bioethics, HEC-C, Vice President of Ethics Services at the Center for Practical Bioethics
• Lindsey Jarrett, PhD, Vice President of Ethical AI for the Ethical AI Initiative at the Center for Practical Bioethics
This wide-ranging discussion took place before an audience of healthcare providers and executives, clinicians, Center board members and staff, and other interested professional and volunteer leaders.
Pferdehirt discussed his role as an ethical consultant in healthcare and case studies where ethics consulting made a measurable impact. Jarrett discussed the emerging use of artificial intelligence in healthcare technology, its promise and dangers to be mitigated.
