I have epilepsy and been on all prescribed drugs. Marijuana holds back the frequency of seizures & side effects. Since 1994 at 17. In '96 voted to legalize it in CA prop. 215. Epilepsy is one of 3 conditions that marijuana can combat and not addicting like Rx
Just grow the plant… I knew of weed all my life. Stopped smoking like an ass with a bunch idiots in NA in 02. Seizures started in 08. 2 job losses bc of seizures. Went back to school and it was the young students that taught me about medicinal cannabis. Only 1 seizure since 2016. None since 2019. Drs and their meds r not in the equation anymore .
Without cannabis, my uncontrollable seizures would take over my life. I ised to have 20 or so seizures a day. Now, i have just a couple. I'm part of group of people with similar diagnosis. We all used cannabis in different forms. It presents itself differently in everyone, but it helps our conditions.
Saying that "it presents itself differently" seems to be a good way of putting it. I would say for me that it is the most effective at keeping my stress levels from going off the charts and keeping my appetite decently running. I understand how it could make one lazy, but if anything, it gives me personally, another reason to stay physically active. Improved lung-function seems to reduce the amount I even need to consume!
@@DrOmarDanoun Some people I think here were saying that Marijuana made their seizures worse. However, CBD oil which is different but from that plant, can help with seizures and is not Marijuana. I know that it is in Epidiolex and is like the main ingredient. But in relation to Marijuana, also known as THC as you know, I heard that there is only a little bit in the Epidiolex that cannot make a person high. So I would imagine that Epidiolex cannot make a person high as long as they take it properly. If this is not correct, please let us know because taking Marijuana is bad and changes the brain however if this little bit of THC cannot do that, then this may be a good epilepsy medicine. I don't know why THC is part of this medicine as I wish there was a medicine that is just CBD oil but will stop the seizures however being that this little bit of THC cannot make a person high, then maybe it is still okay to have.
I’ve met a few epileptics who said they only have seizures when they stop smoking marijuana. Yes, it’s illegal in my state, but they said it’s worth the risk.
Yes, that has happened to me too. I started taking weed, only edible and my seizures were greatly reduced. But the last 2 seizures came when I was thinking that I might reduce the marijuana a little bit, like take some days off. I guess I won't do that again.
I am from Canada and have a legal medical license to grow my own medical cannabis. I smoke about 4 grams a day and it makes it so I can make it through the day. Lamotragine is what controls my epilepsy and the cannabis helps with depression and pain. The thc does not make you necessarily high as you get used to it.
Thank you again, one question,I am on Dilantin for 25 years now and my seizures are under control thank God🙏 but which antihistamine can I take that wont interfere with Dilantin?
See with me and myou seizures, when I went to smoke a joint I all of a sudden got the the worst seizures of my life. 2 back to back that lasted about 10 minutes. Stiff as a bored. Shaking so bad and I became so strong with grip. I was not coherent. But I could still hear what they were saying in the back ground. This one was very weird...
What is your personal opinion on Epidyolex if you don’t mind sharing? I was hoping to get it for my epilepsy but it’s been only approved for certain children’s types epilepsy in the UK unfortunately. Also I’d be interested whether Epidyolex can be substituted by over the counter CBD oils (not as a medical advice but for educational purposes - I’m just trying to figure out why is Epidyolex so expensive). Thanks Doc
I would have to say that one of the things cannabis use seems to help me with is dealing with the side effects of Keppra! I should be a little more diligent about keeping track of the ratios of THC to CBD in products I do use though.
I usta take keppra and Dilantin when I was 18years of age then in some/same time picked up smoking, heavily.(also started jogging, running, stretching picking up a few weights, 3lbs“I'm not going for bulk, I'm going for tone.” 😆 -Micheal Scott) then when 20age🤔, without consulting with a doctor I decided I didn’t want to take them pills anymore.. didn’t not have a seizure or ever felt I would have one, or even thought about them ..
@@johnO21 I've definitely increased physical activity, feeling kinda obligated to do so lol not even to say that I wouldn't be exercising, it just makes it feel like something I need to get done rather than something I'm doing out of choice 😂
@@user-gf7xz1pd9u lol I finally got off of it, I had to ask my neurologist. I just calmly showed him my shaky hand and told him that one of my leg muscles still feels tight af even though I've been riding a bike literally 100 miles or more every week for the past year and a half. I just consume cannabis products generally like dabs/flower which helps with quite a few things.
Hi Dr, you are all saying anti seizer medication is not good.. It will worse... So what is the exact treatment of epilepsy??? Evry doctor give valparin chrono, lamictal, keppra, some like medicine. Also said not miss any dose, also dr said these are all medication get worse... So that which treatment is good for seizures? Is doesn't go away once it affected?????
Hello i been smoking marijuana since high-school I'm 31 now... Four year's ago I've been having seizures every 1-4months I'm starting to think my neurologist is right to stop smoking😢😢
Here’s my story.. I started smoking weed way before it was illegal when I was 13, when I finally quit around 27 at before the birth of my first child.. Was in the first week and wrecked my wife’s car because of the first seizure of my life.. then was arrested because I didn’t know what happened where I had more then eventually got diagnosed with epilepsy.. and have been smoking ever since.. I don’t try to miss my pills but I can go a week without them and nothing but if I go a day without smoking or getting some sort of thc in my system I’ll convulse.. went to long without smoking or too much stress and had a bad one the day after my second child was born a few months ago.. Before I watch this video no one will ever tell me medical marijuana is bad for me
I haven’t had seizures in 16 years and on my 18 birthday they came back had I been smoking weed when since like 8th grade but they don’t know why mine came back but I’m on 2 different seizures medications and but it do helps now how keppra makes you feel
I have epilepsy and I used to dab and smoke lots of high THC weed. It always kept my seizures controlled even smoking the next day after a long night of drinking. I will say this though my seizures got way worse after I quit smoking weed.
True story when I was in high school I smoked Marijuana, no sezures....I stopped after high school and I started again , although they changed to just losing consciousness no aches, muscle pain biting tongue all gone, but I still have hyperclonic jerks in morning . Maybe I should have kept smoking dope😂
How are you now after stopping smoking for a while? Have you needed to change medications increase dosage? I’m an epileptic have been smoking for a while took a T break one time for 3 days and had a full seizure, so im so stressed to stop now, looking for advice
@@qween3013I'm no doctor, but when I used to smoke weed no seizures until I quit I had a doc talk me into getting laser brain surgery. Honestly keep smoking if it helps you. A seizure will damage the brain more than weed. It's not worth taking the risk. I regret quitting and might start using THC again
@@MountaCo are you on any medications? Have you started smoking again? I want to connect with more people dealing with the same issues. Do you have an insta or fb we can talk more in-depth please??
I had a medical marijuana card in my young twenties but I never really used it because I found that weed made my seizures worse or it cause seizures. Does that mean epidiolex will not be beneficial to me? I’m asking because I want to try it.
From my experienced THC would stop my seizures right away and every time I tried CBD it caused me to have a seizure right after. I'm not saying THC is good for you, but Also the long term effects that pharmaceutical drugs have aren't good for your body in the long term but can help. Im no doctor but, i do think THC should be looked at more and also possible even psychedelic mushrooms.
What do you recommend I am currently on 3 med but they seem to not help. I have asked my nueroaligist abd cbd or tch and she does not to do it. What do you recommend, a second opinion, also is the thc and cbd smoked for temporary use only while at home.
I don't have epilepsy. I have been having a few ideopathic seizures over the past couple of years. I'm not entirely sure Keppra would be necessary for me. Any opinions anyone?
my son weight is 65 kg he is on Eptoin 300 mg in aday, lacosamide 200 mg in a day, Tab Lamitor DT 400 mg in aday, Tab cloba15 mg at night , Tab Risnia 5mg at night convulsions are still coming twice in a month
I tell i am alleric to pot because i had anaphylaxis im a room full of vollege students smoking it ehile i was in college. Buy I also have epilepsy. So, I gess its a doublr need for me.
I was diagnosed with MS at 20, I took tons of meds to treat side effects of MS, was in a coma in and out for years and dealing with the effects of treatments, then i diangnosed with epileptic seizure since i was getting a seizure every week, because of the treament and meds i stopped my marijuana use which i thought was the reason of my seizures..im 30 now able to wallk fine and pain free becaus im smoking my medical indica weed.
I have been on keppra for 10 years, but had breakthrough absence seizures every few days. I was talking about this to an old guy on a train. He recommended palmitoylethanolamide (PEA). I’ve been taking 1600mg per day and haven’t had a breakthrough seizure for 26 months. And it’s cheaper than CBD.

I just started using CBD oil a couple of days ago topically on my inner elbow, face and neck, hopefully it will help. My recent seizure was on 19 November 2023.

Hello Doctor is there any data you know of, if not full on studies, maybe even any known observed patterns of of how people with epilepsy have been affected by THC use? The only thing I've found is that "results are mixed", or else talking about CBD treatment and not THC. For example, is there any known data showing benefit from THC use? @@DrOmarDanoun
I've been using tinctures and edibles lately and I've only had 1-2 smaller seizures since.. I was getting them multiple times a day before that. There are still days where I have to take lorazepam, but those are only the really bad days and those don't happen near as often now.
