Dear doctor, my son has Strug-Weber syndrome. He is now 3.5 years old, he does not have glaucoma, he walks normally, eats and everything else. We also visited a neurosurgeon who said that it is not very serious for him. At the age of 3, he was diagnosed with epilepsy. He had strange introductions to the first attack, mouth movements, pain in the stomach. In the first phase, the doctor prescribed carbizepam, the drug Tegretol, after a few days he started nodding his head, usually in the evening around 7 p.m., like an atonic attack. Can he have this? cause aggravation. He is now drinking Kepra, and we are discarding this first drug. Can these atonic attacks be controlled with drugs, or is there a possibility of controlling epilepsy in this disease. I would be grateful for your answer. Thank you

Stress is my #1 trigger for focal seizures (Right TLE). I gave up drinking alcohol entirely, almost 3 years ago, so thankfully that's no concern for me. I HIGHLY recommend getting blackout shades for your bedroom. I used to wake up several times per night before I installed proper blinds, but ever since I've had blackout blinds, I've slept 8-10 hours straight through. Also, no caffeine after 12 noon, no beverages 3 hours before bedtime, go to bed at the SAME TIME EVERY NIGHT, and no computer or smart phone at least 1 hour before bedtime. I pray the Lord's blessings on all who have epilepsy, and for all who care for spouse, child, friends with epilepsy.

Update: I'm still experiencing seizures (tonic clonic, focal, and I recently experienced a status seizure that lasted almost 30 minutes!). I have no fear, even in my struggle with epilepsy, though it can be very frightening at times, and though I have no medical advice for others, nor would I presume to offer any, I do have compassion for all who live with epilepsy, and if you are not a Christian then I want to share something with you. Jesus Christ, God's own Son, came to redeem the human race from sin. And because all people are born in sin, and thus at enmity with God and deserving of the penalty for that sin, which is death, He sent His only Son to pay the price for all sin, and to reconcile all who would turn from sin and place their faith in Jesus Christ, who suffered the wrath of God on the cross, died to pay the sin debt of all, was buried in a tomb for three days and then rose from the pit of death, thus defeating death's hold, and is now alive and seated at God's right hand to intercede for those who've believed, there is great hope, joy, and freedom in this life, and forever after in the life to come. If you will pray and ask God to reveal the Truth to you, and turn from sin, and believe in Jesus Christ, you will be saved. God bless you all!

When I heard trigger #2 I dropped what I was doing and took my medication. Thank you Doctor Danoun!! For me, it is easy to become complacent when I haven’t had an episode for a while (months) and I stupidly start treating taking my medication (twice a day) as an annoyance instead of a necessity to live a “normal” life. Then I’m “reminded” when my wife gives me that look of disappointment because my last memory is of me going to bed, but she has a whole list of things that happened I simply don’t recall. Your videos are awesome Doctor! Thank you!

Dr. Danoun definitely gave us an awesome delivery when dissecting the most negative on how seizures trigger. In memory of how mine would come about just _have_ to stem from those nights of either overnight gaming or allowing my depression to overpower in those moments only for my episodes of binge eating can only worsen. A perfect kickstarter when either seeing another or tapping into them yourself every time. Thanks buddy.

They can’t affect it in certain places in your brain and stop seizures in certain part of your brain. ~set alarms for meds ~ Lack of sleep. ~ stress ~ sicknesses can trigger seizures ~ hormonal problems I’m women/ that time of the month ~ drinking ~ Drugs ~ Skipping meals/ being dehydrated Triggers: Caffeine, missing medication, flashing lights.

Doctor thanks a lot for such an educational video. My seizure triggers are lack of sleep, stress, junk food, physical exhausation and finally menstruation. I started taking nonepileptic seizure medicine but it got worst. Then I stopped. I try to maintain a very simple easy life with simple food regular sleep. My seziure does not come to test and thus doctor think I have mental issue and even suggested me all sorts of medicine associates to mental health. My seizures replicate the symtoms of epilepsy however Doctor said it is non epileptic.

Ok, so I have epilepsy and my husband died from covid a little over a year. I now am both parents to three kids. I work hard. I recently had three grandmal seizures at work. It caused a stroke one week later, which I had another grandmal, or clonic tonic whatever they call it now, seizures that took me into a stroke. My second by the way. How can I survive, raising three children on my own without stress, hormonal changes, ect. that causes this. I am so lost right now as an epileptic single mom.

@recoveringsoul755
@recoveringsoul755 6 месяцев назад
That sounds awful I'm so sorry for your loss, that's major stress right there. Grief and trying to help your kids, make all the plans. I was wondering why he didn't mention motherhood. New mothers, and any mothers, go through a lot of changes and constant demands. Grandmal can cause a stroke? How do you get to work since you can't drive? Do you have any relatives who live nearby who can check in you? Are your children old enough to call the doctor or ambulance or drive you places? I live alone and money is tight so I've been rationing my meds. Had 4 seizures in the past year and was seizure free for 30 years before that. Nobody here to witness or help me after, tell me what happened. I hate living alone Sometimes it takes a couple of days for my brain to feel almost normal. I keep a cheap composition book that I write in. Date time and record when I take medicine, when and what I eat, anything else so I can read it to try to put the pieces together. I even write as soon as I can after a seizure, a timeline if nothing else. I can never figure out how to charge my phone after one. The plug doesn't fit. So I wrote an After Seizure cheat sheet for myself. Including the code to unlock my phone and other stuff I forget like how to turn on my tablet I forget how to cook or where the food is even. After one I was hungry and I knew how to boil water, like to make ramen, or reheat food already made, but not actually cooking something. My cupboards are pretty bare. I ended up boiling a couple potatoes to make mashed potatoes because I was out of the instant ones. Nothing in the freezer. So I try to keep something I can reheat. Make a big pot of beans, or rice. Just to have easy food

My special needs client is 25 and has had epilepsy since he was a kid. He's on the max dose of anti seizure meds but still gets seizures often. With Keppra they were more focal seizures a few times a month, but now with Briviact (not sure how to spell that) he has more grand mal seizures. He had 3 focal seizures last Monday, and this morning in his bed i think he had a grand mal because he had bruise on his forehead, and had a nose bleed when he came wake me up. He always sings a certain song when he's coming out of a tonic clonic seizure , and he was singing it. Epilepsy is scarey. My biggest fear is he will have one and someone wont be there on time to block him hitting his head on something.

3 seizures in 1 day poor fella how horrible for him a good job he’s got you! Have you looked into a ketogenic diet for him it’s a low carb diet which can control seizures he’d have to be weaned into it gradually as a sudden change of diet is not good, I’d look into it for him it’s worth a try but he should always consult his doctor first because it may not suit everybody.

Two years ago, I had a Covid-19 infection. I suffered from a high fever… everything was terrible. I was not able to concentrate and I had a blurry vision. I fell on the ground and my body started shaking so badly (I don’t know what happened exactly, but my siblings witnessed the seizure and described it) .. when I woke up, I went to the hospital seeking medical help because my nose was bleeding. My nose kept bleeding for too long. I went to a doctor after five days, and we found out that my nose was broken💔 I was hurting, physically and emotionally.

Febrile seizures are bad. Your fever caused it. Very scary. 💔

Yes, it’s the reason that caused it. When I fell on the ground, I hit the ground. My face fell strongly on the ground, this is how my nose got broken. 💔☹️ it was really hard because the more I breathed, the more I felt the pain.

I have been diagnosed with presumptive TEA. Was having episodes about 4x/yr. All tests with the neurologist came back normal. My family doctor put me on lamotrigine after I had another episode. I have been on increasing doses for 6 months and am now at 200 mg/daily and have not had another episode. Due to severe tremors, I am back down to 175mg/daily and the tremors have stopped. I haven't been able to find any info with respect to a standard for Lamotrigine. Should I be worried that I am taking 25 mg less per day?

The goal is to find the least amount of medication that control your symptoms. If 175 does the trick then that's all you need. Obviously your neurologist will decide with you

How can I change my medication for Epilepsy seizure
@phunkymind23
@phunkymind23 22 дня назад
The most likely time for me to have a seizure is during my HIIT workouts. Clearly, the stress on the heart must be the root cause. It annoys me because I want to continue to exercise to my best and keep a healthy lifestyle. I had to stop running outdoors because of my seizures, and I've got scars on my knees that will probably never heal because of a seizure on a treadmill. On top of all this, I'm drug-resistant, so I can't imagine my workouts will ever go smoothly. But I learned to take it one day at a time.

I would recommend Encorate chrono 300 tablets. It's the best for acute Tonic clonic seizure episode especially not exceeding 2. It's the best medicine out there with less side effects and also helps in reducing anxiety and mood stabilization. Please only go for it after consulting your doctor. You're welcome

Any advice ?

I am also "annoyed"(😉/😭) by certain sounds and even certain fabric or other materials such as stripes or patterns from the 70s, especially if with strongly contrasting colours, etc. and if by chance I'm a little more tired, even the lines and squares in the notebooks can already cause small contractions, vision of stars or intense light with the beginning of loss of consciousness even if fortunately, only for a few seconds. Otherwise, the classic lack of sleep, alternating lights are my worst enemies ... I also forgot the ignorance and wickedness of many people around me. Greetings from Europe.
