I did my waiver and my recruiters ghosted me. A year and a half later a different recruiter hit me up and I’m now in the process of enlisting. Don’t take no for an answer and if you really want it go get it

I have a RE-3 honorable from the Army. I have contacted every Marine Recruiter in my area and far beyond my area and none of them are willing to look at my paper work, however i am not giving up!

@ Paige Burton Forget them. You can try Army National Guard and tell them your situation and see what the Army National Guard Recruiter says. Don't take no for an answer.

Roughly 3 Years ago, I was medically disqualified during recruit training at MCRD San Diego. Diagnosis was Bronchiectasis. By all definitions, I shouldn't be allowed back into the military across all branches, however not too long afterwards, a National Guard recruiter shot me one of those emails given to deadbeat college students. He wasn't the first recruiter I tried talking with, but he was the first to take a chance with me. My case wasn't easy, even he stumbled a bit but at least he didn't completely give up on me. The process took two and a half years until one day during March, I went to MEPS and enlisted, 22 days later I was at the 95th AG and left Fort Sill about 16 weeks later after firing 4 HE rounds.

One of the reasons why I like the Army National Guard a lot. To a certain degree, the Army National Guard does give people a chance instead of automatically assuming they don't have a chance to join at all the moment the applicant tells them their medical history unique to their situation.

I just turned 32 Monday. I wanted to enlist in high school but I was way too big. I ballooned to 430lbs afterwards, and since have lost 150lbs, and am still dropping to try and reach bmi/weight requirements. The issue is that I developed type 2 diabetes (which has since been all but eliminated due to exercise and diet). I took a practice asvab and got a 99 but at this point I’m so disheartened bc of everything I’ve seen about diabetes idk if it’s worth trying.

Get the weight down. Be stable off medication for 12mo and obtain a all clear letter from your doctor sharing your journey. If you can become stable without medication and remain stable for 12mo, you might qualify for a medical waiver request. Even if you don’t join… you’re my hero! Continue this lifestyle change and journey to being healthy. Your life depends on it and the ones you’re closest to will love to have you around longer. Stay blessed and keep up the grind!

I got an 82 on my ASVAB now I’m freaking out about the Physical because I really want to enlist into the Air Force but when I caught Covid like 6ish months ago my health declined because I started having back problems (sciatica like problems) and I had been given an inhaler as well. I don’t use the inhaler anymore and I’m pretty physically fit again. I’m just worried my back problem, which has been proven to be a slight bulging disc, will prevent me from getting in, even though I know it’s able to heal. It just kinda sucks because I was literally 100% healthy before Covid.

Hey there! im a kid from Portugal, i turned 18 in November, unfortunately because i get anxious, with that anxiety comes nausea i was medically disqualified because of that, in the 14th of this month i will talk with a psychologist i think i dont need medication because i don't have panic attacks or random anxiety attacks it only happens in the first days of school or when i go to some parties (not all) for example, i hope i can still make it, it's my dream to serve!! pray for me!

It took the Air Force almost 2 years to finally deny my son’s medical waiver. Then it took the Army 2 months to get his medical waiver approved and he ships on April 11th.

Ain't that about a B about the Air Force? The Air Force is hard to join. That's why I'm glad I chose Army. To a certain degree, the Army understands that no applicant is medically perfect. Realistically speaking, most applicants, not all, have a few smudges in their medical history. An applicant with a clean bill of health is a rare find for many military recruiters.

@ Chris C Yeah. Some Air Force recruiters tend to be mean when it comes to applicants wanting to join. When I was younger, I tried to join the Air Force but was immediately turned off by the standoffish unapproachable vibe the recruiter gave me on the phone like I inconvenienced him or something. I was like "F**k the Air Force. I'm going Army." That Air Force recruiter was a B***h. I walked in an Army National Guard recruiting office and was welcomed with open arms. Choosing Army was the best decision I made and I do not regret it. And I never looked back at wanting to go Air Force again.

I was recently discharged from the Navy in boot camp for anxiety and depression and I still wanna serve in the military so I called up a Air Force recruiter he said as of right now we can’t do anything we can submit a waiver but with me coming back home so soon the chances are next to zero so I will come back to him in 3 years where I can get a waiver at it’s easiest and hopefully re enlist

I just got back from MEPS. Took my Picat confirmation. Scored a 61, did all my physicals. All came back great, but came interrogation from a doctor. I denied having any medical problems (because i dont currently) and anything worth noting, i told him i couldnt recall that moment. Long story short, i need waivers for autism because i had special ed classes in elementary and middle school. But I've been good throughout highschool and many believe it was a misdiagnosis. I need a waiver for astigmatism, and some waivers because i had stomach problems that were cancerous a few months ago. But are all good and negative. Im worried i can't get in, considering this is all i want in life currently.

Currently getting my medical requirements done - 1. I’m allergic to cats but I’m not on medication 2. A letter from dentist saying I have finished my Invisalign 3. Dislocated shoulder when I was 6 I’m 28 now 4. I had bronchitis infection in April and was prescribed inhaler, but I don’t use it Went to meps already so just waiting now for Air Force higher ups to approve me or not!

1) If someone qualifies for a medical waiver for a shoulder/back/ knee injury, what are they exempt from, if enlisted? Is one exempt from*Boot camp/ basic training?*Any/all running/ swimming? 2) If enlisted with a waiver, what roles/jobs can they serve in as a civilian? 3) Which branch would most likely enlist someone with a medical waiver, btwn the Navy, Air Force, and Marines? Waivers can be entertained in all branches and sometimes what one branch denies, another can possibly approve. If the medical waiver isn’t approved, you won’t be authorized for enlistment. There’s 159 different MOS’s within the Army and most are translatable to the civilian sector. Checkout GoArmy and NationalGuard official websites for each MOS and the website will mention ways it translates to the civilian sector. I’m anemic and I can’t join the navy or the Air Force , the want a 13.5 hemoglobin level and I’m a 13.1 and a 12.8 , shit is crazy I passed every test asvab good everthing good . But I can’t joing the military.

Take over the counter iron supplement and eat iron enriched foods. Do that for a couple of months and redo blood work. Once you have the readings needed. Do this monthly for 6+ months to show consistency without using medication. Once you have proven you’re stable, anemia free for 6+ months and have normal blood work… then resubmit your waiver to appeal the waiver denial. If it’s not a common authorized MEPS option for a free consultation, yes… the applicant is responsible to do what they need to do to obtain the necessary evals and documentation to support their waiver request requirements. What are my chances my medical wavier being approved for a kidney stone I had this year back in February which was a 5.3mm and I passed it on the same day and on the full report saying there was no other issues and I was all good.

I didn't know you could appeal a dq. My recruiter told me to submit any mri records records I had because I used to have migraines as a child.(my mris were old btw) took 2 months to tell me I'm disqualified, no explanation why. I had a neurologist ready to do a full examination/letter for me too.

Hi I have a question for you I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease when I was about 10 years old. I’ve been taking medication since then now I’m 20 years old I recently got off my medication I had a very light condition of Crohn’s and my doctor said basically that I do not need to take medication anymore and I am healthy, will I be able to get a waiver to join the US Army?

In 2023 I went to the hospital and the doctor said I had radial nerve damage in my left arm and smash my tendon’s in my hand (tendinitis) do you think I would get disqualified

@@TEAMSWARTZ I failed a pft with a 69 my change was 1% over it was a 16% change then i passed a pft scored in the 80s with 4% change meps said I cheated because my number improved so much then today I took a methacholine challenge and I think I failed I got below negative 20%

I was told I'm medically cleared to join the Marine Corps and when I went to MEPS to enlist, they 'changed their minds' last second and I was told "under no circumstances can you ever be a Marine"

@@TEAMSWARTZ I had kidney stones growing up due to some genetic thing from my mother. I also used to go to therapy and used to have a vitamin D deficiency. Lastly, i had a doctor who put 'hypogonadism' in my medical records to try and get more money out of me. It was a disqualifier and even though that doctor is now in prison for tons of counts of medical malpractice, the marine corps just wouldn't believe me even though I provided hormone tests and other documents proving I don't have hypogonadism. My recruiters fought tooth and nail to get me in, sent every request for a waiver possible, would respond to me within minutes if I ever had questions, and tried as hard as they could to get me in. Im truly grateful for them but ultimately I was permanently disqualified.

Hello Sir, (20) (army) (Kidneystone) Great video! I've been trying to join the Army for a minute now (1yr). I went to M.E.P.S and it was brought to my attention that i had a 8mm kidney stone in my kidney. I was able to pass it.....painfully....but it came out. Since then i have been drinking plenty of water and cut out anything thay could risk me getting another stone. I haven't felt any pain since then or experinced symptoms (Sept 2023). I have seen my doctor for it and he cleared me of having any stones at all but meps still want me to see a specialist. I've tried getting a consult from meps due to my location and funds but was denied. I've kept my head up not giving up and i'm currently looking for a urologist to clear me and finally be able to serve. Do you have any insight on why meps couldn't accept a doctors clearance? And the likelihood of me being disqualified from joining the military in general? THANK YOU!

Your doctor is a primary care physician, not a specialist in the field of the Kidneys… if MEPS can’t do it, you’ll have to pay out of pocket if it worth obtaining a medical waiver or get insurance to get the referral to a specialist to get the updated testing and evaluation and the all clear letter. Yeah unfortunately you can’t be on medication for that. Once your doctor determines you no longer need the neuron and you’ve been off it for at least 6-8 weeks, get retested, evaluated and submit those results for a medical waiver and try again. Hello, I went to do the physical, but meps desqualified me. I have a history of having two nephritic colics due to kidney stones, but I always expel them, since 2019 I have not had any and right now I have a 1 mm stone and meps does not let me enter the army for that reason. What do you recommend me to do from your experience? I feel fine, I have never undergone surgery for this reason and it is the only thing I suffer from.

Unfortunately the only thing you can do is go to the highest specialist in the field of this issue for any extensive tests and evaluations. Any and all that you can. I answered a similar question of not the same question to this example within a week I believe. I’d say 3 consecutive months of monthly testing/bloodwork would be the bare minimum but for a guarantee favorable response from the waiver appeal request, I’d highly recommend 6mo which with show more consistency of stability. Is mild sleep apnea a disqualification? I got prescribed a cpap but I never use it and I’m pretty sure my sleep doc would say it’s not totally necessary because it’s mild, can I get a waiver for this?

It’s in our DODI document that’s not for civilians eyes. You can request a waiver but likely to get denied. It’s not so much about the now. It’s the future potential risk of disability rating. Is the cost to compensate you for the rest of your life worth you serving. That condition can worsen and the medical expenses can be pretty hefty. So if I got depressed when my dad died and when my boyfriend killed himself n front of me I have anxiety and depression don’t really take the meds at all cuz I’m fine!! I’m 36 now that was when I was 27and 20 so all my paper work has anxiety and depression on it !! What about substance abuse or legal issues

Hey I was in the FT Hamilton yesterday in New York to do my physical test but at the very end I got too eager and said yes to Peanut allergy and was Put in the Process for getting a waiver. Well until they call me in to do the peanut testing, but from what my Sergeant told me it could be 1week or 2 or even 3months and I'm disappointed in myself for choking at the very end, I'm Enlisting into the National Guard to army mos12w hopefully and I was wondering if with just a small peanut allergy if they'll really give me a waiver soon within this month of April, my Sergeant said to not lose my motivation and to have hope, but I just wanna know that they'll really call me for the allergy waiver soon. My Sergeant said that I don't have to redo any of the physical or asvab stuff I just need to wait and hopefully get a appointment from them. I'm very nervous 😅😢

Once you obtain the blood pressure readings in accordance to the MEPS request when you’re disqualified for it and they’re within normal range, a waiver is almost always approved providing they’re good readings. Get an evaluation done by a psychiatrist and a behavioral health specialist to obtain all clear letters. Hey brother since you served I wanted to know if it’s a possibility for me to serve any military branch with hypothyroidism? I’ve talked to three different recruiters and two sorta gave me the same answer saying their policy changes every month on allowing people with hyperthyroidism to enlist but I want to know if it’s worth getting a medical waiver? I take meds daily once a day and my thyroid does not prevent me from being physically active at all I just need my meds and it’s under control.

Yes there’s a strong possibility you can: HYPOTHYROIDISM You need current lab results (or within 6mo) for TSH, T3, and T4 to submit to MEPS. If your levels are w/in the acceptable range, you’ll be good to go! No waiver required if approved and you can join with that medication. Im a bit worried myself I tried marines first recruiter was just gonna leave it second said they’ll ask and let me know no response old classmate asked me if i was interested in enlisting i said I think im dq’d so he left me alone year and some change later i am talking to a national guard recruiter he thinks we can get a waiver even with it and still send me to meps one mental “disability” label thats 50/50 on if the dod accepts it brings this whole situation ive been working without accommodation at an automotive shop for over a year got off a 504 years ago and was in a votech my jr and sr year of hs plus boyscouts really just hoping i get this waiver I am decently active have been in high stress environments with no accommodation

Man i'm stressed out, I always wanted and planned to serve in the Army. Only to realize that my medical condition is an automatic disqualification due to me needing medication daily. However, it doesn't effect my mobility or have common side effects that this condition has. Is it worth it or do they just automatically decline people with chronic illnesses like Hypothyroidism.

Hypothyroidism is allowable if you meet this criteria: You need current lab results (or within 6mo) for TSH, T3, and T4 to submit to MEPS. If your levels are w/in the acceptable range, you’ll be good to go! The best part is no waiver required! Hyperthyroidism is permanently disqualifying and no waiver authorized. I had an applicant that had 40cm of his large intestine removed shortly after birth and he enlisted. Same rule applied then but he went to a gastro doctor or an intestine/digestive expert/specialist. They made him drink some dye or something and conducted extensive testing. I don’t recall the tests completed but I remember the paperwork he gave me was very colorful. Reminded me of a color topography of the eyes. Talk to a specialist and conduct any and all tests. Gather those test results and records. You’re otherwise a health normal person and if you live a healthy/active lifestyle you’ll age/function like a normal person. If there was a surgery involved, they’ll need the pre/post surgery documents, operative report and any related follow up visits. If no records exist any longer the all clear letter needs to be as detailed as possible. I’m sure medication was issued at that time so you’ll need the pharmacy record for that if it exists too. If you aren’t on IEP or any other programs and can obtain all clear letters, pass the ASVAB test with no issues, maybe a waiver can be approved. If you can prove in high school or college that you can function like a normal person unassisted and thrive, then a waiver can be submitted and others like you have been approved. @Matthew Matthew Yes, I can hear fine. It was the first time actually, and I was in shock. I failed on 40db and 60db only on the right ear. I heard all the other db. I was diagnosed as per the MEPS Doctor as moderate to severe asymmetrical hearing loss.

Have a hearing loss. Currently wear hearing aids but that’s recent, due to having kids and to make life easier. Tried getting in back in 2011 but recruiters weren’t willing to attempt getting a waiver. Do you think my chances now are better? Also going the reserves route. Either AF or army. So IBD is disqualifying (Ulcerative Colitis) etc. I have NOT had a flair since diagnosis (EIGHT years ago) and this includes a time in nursing school, while pregnant and during COVID. I have neurofibromatosis ( nf1 ). I was diagnosed when I was 2 but have been off medication for over 10 years. I did HS with little help and got over a 3.0 with no meds, same with 1 college semester and a trade school for railroading. Would it be worth my time to fight for a waiver if needed? Do you by chance know someone with NF1 that's in the military? It's a very slim case.

You may be good to go! HYPOTHYROIDISM You need current lab results (or within 6mo) for TSH, T3, and T4 to submit to MEPS. If your levels are w/in the acceptable range, you’ll be good to go! Good morning I had quick question. A little nervous now dealing with the new genesis system coming up for my MEPS appointment soon. I had a toe arthritis problem due to being overweight. I have lost over 30 pounds I met the weight and height/ body fat %. I also was cleared by my physician for the weight being the problem to it. I think if you no longer have those symptoms due to losing the weight would provide you the best consideration but in the end, if it’s minor it still stands a favorable consideration. I had one applicant enlist a few years ago and a few days later called back to meps to be informed he tested positive for HIV. As a result, he was discharged. Man my recruiter told me you couldn’t appeal it he submitted no evidence when he did the wavier I submitted evidence with another branch and was approved but navy life ain’t for me I can’t be stuck on a boat ima see if can get another recruiter willing to appeal it

im as of now trying to enlist into the marines, infantry specifically, but i have a slew of issues like ACL reconstruction, dental problems, and ADHD medications just to name the main ones, but I'm really determined to get in and i hope that i can. this video gives me a lot of hope, i wish there were recruiters like you in my area.

Hard to say but be prepared to be extremely patient and get extensive evaluations and testing done. The lingers it’s been since you’ve been clear the better. Then the hardest part is finding a recruiter willing to do the work. Well, Genesis will more than likely see it. Can’t join with any current medications other than birth control, hypothyroidism or hormone therapy for transgender applicants. So the medical marinuana card will count against you and then the signs, symptoms or issues that prompted the diagnosis to prescribe the medical marijuana card will certainly count against you. I got glaucoma but the military needs a smart person like me so i guess thats a loss on both sides. This is why I’m running for president in the near future but if kanye lost then I definitely have no chance because I’m black and unimportant so i guess i might just have to die a civilian. I know the real world but people treat me like i was slow growing up and I’m probably stuck with a basic life with chronic depression.
